Camping in the Redwoods - Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park
We decided to take a road trip to Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park in Northern California.
We stayed two nights at the state park campground. It is highly developed with heated restrooms and warm water showers.
The site is a bit pricey at almost 35 dollars per night.
They also had cabins which were $100 usd per night.
Some friends also joined us on this trip, and although there wasn’t much to see except for the trees, it is definitely a must see and should be on everyone’s bucket list!

Panther Flat Campground & Jedediah State Park, Northern California (more redwoods)
We have a relaxing few days camping by the Smith River at the tranquil Panther Flat Campground in Northern California near the Redwoods National and State Parks.
We take a scenic drive through Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, discover the awesome SeaQuake Brewing at Crescent City, and learn how to cross a river in five ways near our campsite. It was flowing quickly and we could not get across it to the beach on the other side without a series of mishaps. Swimming and cliff jumping was our reward once we did,

Jedediah Smith Campground in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park near Crescent City California offers primitive tent and RV camping in a second growth Redwood Forest. With paved roads and a mix of paved or gravel parking pads all of the sites within this campground are situated in a heavily wooded setting.
Often confused as Redwood National Park the California Coastal Redwoods in extreme Northern California are managed in a joint partnership between the California State Parks and National Park Service. One of the crown jewel camping destinations Jedediah Smith Redwoods Campground offers a special place to stay.
Just across the river from this campground is one of the largest stands of old growth Redwoods in the world and it is those large trees that form the backdrop for the camping experience. Sites have picnic tables, fire rings and bear boxes. Water spigots are dispersed throughout and a dump station is available near the exit.
Easily accessed off US 199 the campground is limited to RVs less than 36' in length and trailers less than 31' in length. These numbers are proper as the campground roads wind through and around very large (and very solid) trees!
Hiking trails, access to the Stout Grove (across the river), and access to the river are popular activities at the park. In addition this campground has a number of cabin rentals available and an onsite visitor center.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park - CA.
07/22/14
A journey at dusk along the 6 mile long dirt Howland Hill Rd. This road takes you through some of the old growth timber in the California Redwood Forest. The rangers at Mill Creek Campground suggested this scenic road as a good place to capture video. Almost all of this was shot with the Go Pro camera so it's not the best quality and doesn't really do it justice. It was quite spectacular actually. It is easily accessed from Humboldt Rd just south of Cresent City off Hwy 101.

Crescent City Redwoods KOA Campground
We loved this campground near Redwoods National Park! The campground has its own 10 acre redwood forest right there on site along with all the typical KOA amenities. I wouldn't say it is big-rig friendly, but our 30' fifth wheel and truck fit perfectly in our full hook up pull thru spot.
