Seville, Spain walk in Santa Cruz Old Town
In Seville, Spain the most exciting and popular pedestrian neighborhood is the Old Town — Santa Cruz with the narrow pedestrian streets and lots of shopping and eating. Here we show big walking route through this formerly Jewish district, strolling a couple of miles back in time. It'll take you right through the center including shopping areas, past the Cathedral, Alcazar and the old quarter of Santa Cruz where we're going to focus our attention for this segment.
Be advised many of these little streets in Santa Cruz and the little plazas have been discovered by the tourists, so depending on when you're here the main lanes might get a little crowded but there's always the lovely side lanes that you can find for a more peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. So just follow your nose when you're wandering around in Santa Cruz district, and we will give you some tips here on how to navigate and what to see.
Among Europe’s best neighborhoods for strolling, the main part of this warren is only about six blocks in each direction, enabling you to wander freely and discover it in a couple of hours. Santa Cruz is so magical you should return in the warm atmosphere of early evening to appreciate the soft lighting, and settle into a quaint little tavern for dinner. Once is just not enough for a special district like this, which also has several small hotels that make ideal places to stay.

It is quite possible that Seville's Jewish community is, if not the oldest, certainly one of the oldest in Spain. Híspalis (Seville) was, in fact, a place of unrivalled importance on the Iberian Peninsula, with the Roman general Escipión later making it his capital. The Jews must have been attracted by the great city which gave its name to all Hispania.
Seville was Spain's most populous city, the intellectual capital of the kingdom.
Seville's Jewish community was one of the largest and without doubt the most industrious of all. At that time, Seville not only stood out as a result of its trade links, which flourished due to the importance of its river, but also thanks to its medical schools, where Spain's most eminent doctors came to study, including those from Córdoba, such as the great Averroes.

Sorry there's been such a gap between videos. I've been trying to upload this for weeks and haven't had good enough internet until now. Traveler problems hahahah!
I spent 5 days in Seville at the end of September and had a blast!!! I completely fell in love with this city. I typically don't like big cities as much as the smaller towns, but this is one of those truly magical places that goes totally against that.
My hostel was right on the edge of the famous Barrio Santa Cruz, one of the most popular places in the city for tourists to explore. I took so many walks through the maze like streets and sampled the amazing tapas at so many little restaurants (although I had salmorejo at LEAST once a day!)
In this video, I'm showing the two different tours I took. The first one is more focused on the history of Seville and the major places of interest. The second one takes us into the Bario Santa Cruz itself and teaches us about the history of this important neighborhood as well as some of the legends that surround the city. I loved both! And they were offered free from my hostel. Enjoy!!

And it is gorgeous with the cathedral, palace, gardens, museums, delicious food (esp. the tapas) and good prices.
It was a hot Sunday afternoon with 37 degrees celsius!
