Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, Plains GA
The hometown of our 39th President, Plains, Georgia is now a unit of the National Park Service as a National Historic Site. What better gift could the Carters, born and raised and still residents here, give their rural Georgia home? We visited on a busy Saturday and explored the park on our way to Columbus.

President Jimmy Carter and Plains, Georgia
Jimmy Carter was elected the 39th president of the United States in 1976 after launching his campaign from the old train depot in Plains, Georgia, the small southern Georgia town where he was born and raised.
Today Plains celebrates its most famous famous son. The town is home to the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, which preserves many of the sites associated with Carter's life in Plains.
