The Journey - John's Lake Loop - Glacier National Park
For day 3 in Glacier National Park, we hiked the John's Lake Loop. This was supposed to be our short day as we wanted fresh legs for backpacking the next day but ended up being about a 7.5 mile day with the additional hiking of the connector trail plus a couple of short walks up to Apgar Visitor Center as well as Apgar Village. Lots of water features in this one...
Enjoy!

Preview Backpacking Glacier National Park (Part1)- North Circle Route. Montana, August 2019
This is the preview video of a 6 Day, 5 Night backpacking trip in Glacier National Park, Montana.
This video would not be possible without the kind help of Nick Furukawa and his wife, who found my SD cards lying on the trail on day 5 of our trip. Without them, this video would not have been possible.
We did what some call the North Circle Route starting on the East side of the park at the Many Glacier area.
We drove north towards Montana on Sunday August 11th, car camping the first night. The next day we drove into the park and starting backpacking at the Iceberg/Ptarmigan Trailhead.
We hiked up to the Ptarmigan Tunnel cutting through the cliff side and then dropping down to Elizabeth Lake for night 1.
Day 2 we hiked from Elizabeth Lake to Glens Lake Head campground for night #2.
Day 3 we left Glens Lake and headed up very steep and beautiful Stoney Indian Pass, and down to Stoney Indian Lake campground for night #3.
Day 4 we descended from Stoney Indian Lake down into the Waterton Valley, then climbing up to Fifty Mountain to camp for night 4.
Day 5 we left Fifty Mountain and heading towards Granite Park campground. I lost my Micro SD cards on the trail at this point, and following the trip I put in a lost and found for the cards, they were luckily found on the trail and mailed back to me! Night 5 at Granite Park Chalet was very rainy.
Day 6 we left Granite Park campground and headed up Swiftcurrent Pass. We then descended back into the Many Glacier Valley and back to the car.
This trip was absolutely stunning, and it was a treat to be able to get the pictures and videos, nearly a month after the trip concluded. I had little hope that I would ever get a chance to re live the experience, and now you can as well.
I hope you enjoy this part 1 preview video of our trip to Glacier National Park. Enjoy!

Road Tripping Southeast Montana
Last month I partnered with Visit Montana to show off a lesser-known side of the state. Most people have heard of Glacier National Park and Yellowstone in western Montana, but as the 4th largest state in the US, surely there is more to see than these two National Parks. On my recent trip, we planned out an epic week-long Southeast Montana itinerary that included hiking Montana’s badlands, fly fishing Montana’s rivers, driving the unparalleled Beartooth Highway, and more.

Glacier National Park Montana Backcountry Camping
In response to the recent detection of invasive mussel populations in central Montana, Glacier National Park is issuing an interim boating closure within all park waters, in accordance with the park’s Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Action Plan. The closure includes both motorized and hand propelled watercraft. This closure does not impact boating on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, which is outside the park boundary, or the North Fork of the Flathead River which is partially outside the park boundary.
The 2014 plan calls for this immediate closure when invasive mussels are detected within a waterway in the State of Montana, as was announced on November 9 by Montana Fish Wildlife, and Parks.

Glacier National Park Hiking
Hike with my sister Cheryl and Dean. The park encompasses over 1,000,000 acres (4,000 km2) and includes parts of two mountain ranges (sub-ranges of the Rocky Mountains), over 130 named lakes, more than 1,000 different species of plants and hundreds of species of animals. This vast pristine ecosystem is the centerpiece of what has been referred to as the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, a region of protected land encompassing 16,000 square miles (41,000 km2).[3]

SHR - 2, Kearsarge Lakes Heading to Copper Creek Trailhead,
The Sierra High Route - Day 2 - Sept 18 2018
We started this Amazing adventure from the Onion Valley Trailhead over Kearsarge Pass and hiked over to The Copper Creek Trail at Roads End, Kings Canyon National Park, which is the beginning of the Sierra High Route and Ends at Twin Lakes Resort, Mono Village, We Hiked over 240 Miles on this Route. Me and 2 Friends hiked a big portion of The SHR in 2017 but didn't spend nearly the time I would have liked to in such amazing places, so this time I took 3 times as long and took the time to smell all the flowers.
This Route had the most Incredible landscapes I've ever seen in my life and I'm glad I got to share the experience with Mary Poppins,
Happy Trails Everyone.

Mission Outdoors: Glacier National Park
In August 2012, the Sierra Club hosted military veterans on an expedition through Glacier National Park to study climate change. This 12-minute documentary showcases each participant's unique perspective on what it means to protect, preserve, and defend the nation. Read more about the Mission Outdoors program: -
Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to address climate disruption by moving away from the dirty fossil fuels and toward a clean energy economy.
