A Trip to Jolly Buoy – Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India - April 2019
If you are visiting the beautiful Andaman & Nicobar Islands in Bay of Bengal (India), do take a day off and visit the pristine Jolly Buoy Island
Nearest place to stay: Port Blair
How to access: 1-hour ferry ride from Wandoor Beach, which is 30 KM ride from Port Blair (takes around an hour)
Things to do:
Enjoy the clear white water beach, ideal for snorkeling and swimming
Mahatma Gandhi National Park has some of the best Corals in this area. Take a “Glass Bottom” ride to check out the corals
Tips:
Please ensure that you have your permit to the National park ready at least a day in advance (They have very limited tickets)
Start early as it gets very hot in the afternoon
There are not many changing rooms (the one available is in poor shape). Please ensure that you carry enough towels and easy to wear

A jolly trip to Jolly buoy island in South Andaman.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands ,one of the seven union territories of India, are a group of islands at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.
Jolly Buoy Island is one of them.It is a part of Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park. It is very famous for under water corals and the pristine clear beach.
To reach Jolly buoy island people have to come to Wandoor beach.South Andaman.This is located in Mahatma Gandhi National Park. 30 Kms from Port Blair by road. This route is same for visiting Red Skin island also.
Jolly buoy island is very famous for underwater corals and the pristine clear beach. This place is one hour journey from Wandoor beach. Snorkeling and scuba diving are available here.
To reach Jolly buoy island people have to come to Wandoor beach. This is located in Mahatma Gandhi National Park. Wandoor beach is 30 Kms from Port Blair by road. This route is same for visiting Red Skin island also. Both Jolly buoy and Red skin are located at Mahatma Gandhi National park. The normal time leaving to Jolly buoy island at Wandoor beach is 9.00am. Make sure to reach Wandoor beach before 9.00am. All the ships leave at the same time and come back together.
Jolly buoy is a No Plastic zone. Before leaving to Jolly buoy island, people have to submit the list of all plastic items at Wandoor beach. They have to deposit a security amount of INR 100 against each plastic item. They will get the amount back after returning against producing the same items. Additional amount is also to be paid for each still and video camera. In Jolly buoy island nothing is available. Visitors are supposed to carry all items required for them like, food, water etc... At Wandoor beach tender coconuts are available.
Jolly buoy island will not be opened throughout the year as it is protected for live corals. Before planning your Andaman & Nicobar trip, make sure that Jolly buoy island is open for visitors (if you are planning to see this island). When the Jolly buoy island is closed for visitors, usually Red skin island will be opened for visitors. So at any time of the year either of the one island is opened for visitors.

Jolly Bouy Island is one of the most popular destinations in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and a perfect day tour from Port Blair. Jolly Buoy Island and the neighboring Red Skin Island are part of the Mahatma Gandhi National Park. Being a Marine National Park, the whole region is well protected, allowing the native species to thrive without much human interference. This protection has made the surroundings even more beautiful.
