Kaldurg Fort is a hill Fort located near Waghoba Temple of Palghar District in Maharashtra, India. Kaldurg fort is part of Sahyadri Mountain range.
Kaldurg fort provides excellent view Kohoj fort, Surya river, Ashwa Fort. Kaldurg fort was used as watchtower to keep watch on surrounding hills and Arebian Sea.
Waghoba Temple is the base of Kaldurg Fort which is about 8km from Palghar railway station.

KALDURG FORT | PALGHAR | TREKS IN MAHARASHTRA |SURBHI
Went to kaldurg fort this weekend and it's a short and simple trek which you can complete in half day! Kaldurg is in palghar. After getting down at palghar station you will get ST bus or even rickshaws from there to go to waghoba and from there the trek starts. Kaldurg is approximately 1600m high.
I would highly recommend you guys to try this trek!!

Kaldurg Fort is situated to the east of Palghar, Maharashtra, India in the Sahyadri mountain range of northern Konkan. It is strategically situated at a height of at least 475 meters above sea level, giving views of the Arabian Sea and the industrial town of Palghar to the west, as well as views of the Surya River to the east.
This rectangular shape of the fort can easily be located from a distance. There is no specific historic sign available except fort structure. Some populations of poor tribes also live on the fort and hill area. The fort is divided in the upper part and lower part due to a rectangular rock. There are two to three steps which separate these two parts.
How To Reach:
Get into a Dahanu local train on the Western line. You can also get in Virar Local train and then Local train going toward Dahanu Road.
Get down at Palghar Station and move to ST Depot in the west. Look for ST buses going towards MANOR. You can easily get an auto from there for Waghoba Khind.
From Waghoba Khind it takes 1.30-2 hrs to reach the top of Kaldurg Fort.

Location - Kaldurg Fort, Palghar, Mumbai, Maharashtra - 401404.
Trek overview - It serves good adventures place for nature lovers.
Height - 475m above the sea level.
Difficulty - Easy.
It usually takes 1hr 30min to reach the top. Once u reach the top the view is amazing with picturesque landscape, lake, and clouds....
Carry enough amount of water because there is no availability of water till u reach the top or finish the trek. Be aware from monkeys..

BEST PLACE EVER | KALDURG | FORT | TREKKING | PALGHAR | MUMBAI | MAHARASHTRA
Kaldurg is a hill-fort which serves a good adventurous oneday trek for naturelovers,weekend travellers and wanderers around Mumbai.It is at a height of 1547 feet above sea level. It takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hrs to reach the top.One has to take a Manor tumtum rickshaw(8 seater) from palghar station westside.Get down at Waghoba devasthan temple.Here we are welcomed by the monkeys.
Waghoba temple is dedicated to a local deity and also shelters a Shivling in it.There is a handpump behind the temple from where one can see the stairs to the fort.These steps are roughly made up of stones and mud.We have to follow these steps untill we reach the top.At places where you see two ways.. just take the one which goes UPWARDS.There are two massive rock structures on the top..no fortification or walls as such.Only three water storage tanks which is the only sign of the fort .We get a great view of Palghar from here..especially of Surya river.
Though history doesn't offer much information about this fort..we can atleast assume its importance as it overlooks the routes towards Wada,Manor,Palghar,Mahim-kelva.And also it is situated amidts the network of forts like Asheri,Taldulwadi,Kohoj,Vikramgad(hillforts) and kelva,Shirgaon(seaforts).
If you are around rainy season you can have a great time under the waterfall just besides the hill.
Best season: winter,monsoon.avoid while its lightening.
Suggestion: carry food and ample of water.There is a single shop at the base where snacks and tea is available.Avoid trekking alone as there are few cases where locals have misled and robbed the trekkers.So avoid entertaining strangers.You may get a tumtum rickshaw or a S.t bus to the station from the Waghoba temple.Try to return before its dark.

Western Route: Churchgate/Dadar to Boisar & Get down at Palghar
Central Route: Via Dombivli/Kopar Only 5.37 am train available in Morning,If you miss this train then you have two option travel by bus either train
If you want to travel by train so go to dadar and catch boisar train from dadar
Via BUS ; Catch bus from Thane for Boisar or Palghar.

Kaldurg Fort!
Kaldurg is located in the sub-range of the Sahyadris that runs parallel to the coast from Saphale to Boisar. The trek starts at a temple located on the Palghar-Manor road. The trek can be completed in 1 to 2 hours. There is only one stretch of rock patch where one has to be careful during the monsoon. The rest of the path is well marked and easy to find without any guide. If you are lucky and there is no fog or clouds, the views from Kaldurg are fantastic! There are two water tanks located on the fort. One of them is on the small plateau at the top. The water is not potable but can be used for a nice wash after a sweaty trek. Carry more drinking water for the trek as the water in tanks is not suitable for drinking.

TREK TO KALDURG FORT, PALGHAR MAHARASHTRA
Kaldurg fort : Its one of those not so famous treks which can be done in one day. It lies on Palghar - Manor road. The starting point of the trek starts from famous Waghoba temple on Manor road. It comes under easy category and it takes only around 1hr 30min to go up and around 1hr to come down. Kaldurg is around 1547 feet above sea level. The fort doesn't have any fortification but there are two water cisterns to collect water at the top. Not much is known about its history but 360deg view of surrounding region one gets from the top surely points to strategic importance of this fort.
Kaldurg fort is an easy trek and probably a half a day gateway away from Mumbai. Definitely worth a visit.

By Public transport:
Reach Palghar station by Local train in Mumbai, walk to the bus stand for 15 min and hop into any bus going towards Manor or Wada and get down at Waghobaa Khind.
By Private Vehicle:
You have to take the the Nh 48 Highway towards Manor from Mumbai and turn Left from Manor towards Palghar and stop at waghoba khind which is 13Km away.
Food and stay arrangement:
You need to bring your own food and arrange stay on your own. Yeah you can camp here on the top.
Water availability:
Throughout the Year in the tanks available at the fort.
Things you need to carry:
2 litre water.
Snacks like pan cake, biscuits, ready to eat food.

To sum up the cost of trek:
Dadar to Palghar return Ticket(Indian Railways)=Rs 50.

Fruits Consume before starting the Trek= Rs 30.
So the total expense of the trek was Rs. 100 Only.
