Sometimes when you least expect it you come across the most beautiful things. I was hurrying out of yet another shrine and temple complex in Kamakura, thinking about navigating to the next one. I walked past a small path that led to a building on the side. It didn't seem ornate or old and it didn't attract me from a distance but as I walked past I thought I shouldn't not look at something as I won't be here again in all likelihood. So I stepped up to the openings in the building and realized it was part of an archery range. What I saw is in the video. Performed in silence, it is a beautiful meditative dance like ritual of a martial art. It is moving and fascinating.
Kamakura Daibutsu (鎌倉大仏, The Great Buddha), Kamakura, Japan
The Great Buddha of Kamakura (鎌倉大仏, Kamakura Daibutsu) is a bronze statue of Amida Buddha, which stands on the grounds of Kotokuin Temple. With a height of 11.4 meters, it is the second tallest bronze Buddha statue in Japan, surpassed only by the statue in Nara's Todaiji Temple.
The statue was cast in 1252 and originally located inside a large temple hall. However, the temple buildings were destroyed multiple times by typhoons and a tidal wave in the 14th and 15th centuries. So, since the late 15th century, the Buddha has been standing in the open air.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Kencho-ji〜
Kenchoji (建長寺, Kenchōji) is the number one of Kamakura's five great Zen temples. The oldest Zen temple in Kamakura, Kenchoji was founded by the ruling regent Hojo Tokiyori in 1253 during the Kencho Era after which it was named. Its first head priest was Rankei Doryu, a Zen priest from China.
Although considerably smaller than during its heydays, Kenchoji still consists of a large number of temple buildings and subtemples, and stretches from the entrance gate at the bottom of the valley far into the forested hills behind. After passing through the Sanmon main gate, visitors will see Kenchoji's temple bell (Bonsho), designated a national treasure, on their right.

Although she is already over seventy year old and still healthy, she doesn’t have enough money for vacation. After a volunteer lady knew her story, that lady made her a Japanese photo album which deeply touched by her thoughtfulness.
Today, I have the idea of doing YOUTUBE, thinking about what kind of channel I should start. As I love to travel, just make a traveling record channel! This idea reminds me the old lady in the home for aged and her story has given me more meaning to do this YOUTUBE channel.

The Great Buddha and Hase Kannon of Kamakura, Japan
