A must try for SlamDunk fans - Selfie at the famous Anime Locations in Kamakura (Japan)
Kamakura City in Kanagawa is the former capital of Japan. It's famous for old Buddhist Temples, the second largest Buddha statue in Japan, and of course the famous anime locations along the beach facing the Pacific ocean. If you are an avid fan of Slam Dunk like me, we need to go there to witness the hype even to this day. Activities: Eating fresh sushi, surfing, visiting temples, eating in organic restaurants, visiting farmers' and fish market, wearing kimono, riding old trains etc.

Interesting Japanese Street Food And Travel Guide In Kamakura | Kamakura Japan Travel Guide
Japan travel and food guide in Kamakura. Here are 5 of my recommended interesting and unusual Japanese street food to try in Kamakura. Kamakura is only an hour away from Tokyo and makes a great destination for a day trip from Tokyo.
It has many unique and interesting Japanese street food here that you can't get in Tokyo. One of the famous foods here is the whitebait aka shirasu.
Since the ocean is nearby you will see a lot of shops offering the local speciality in their menus. A lot of the street foods here have also incorporated the whitebait into the typical Japanese street foods which gives it a Kamakura twist to it.
All the shops I went to are off the main street - Komachi Street.
Here are the street food I ate and the shops I visited in order:
Chocolate croquette (deep fried mash potato)
Beef croquette (deep fried mash potato)
Street food shop: Torigoya
Inarizushi (sushi wrapped in fried tofu)
Whitebait egg roll
Street food shop: Hannari-Inari
Soy sauce rice cracker (senbei)
Street food shop: Kamakura Ichibanya
Whitebait and Octopus Ball (Takoyaki)
Street food shop: Kamakura J's
Lemonade
Street food shop: Kosode juice bar
Cherry blossom dango (Sakura dango)

My Tokyo Trip(5) – Kamakura, town of history, town of SLAM DUNK
Today I woke up at 6am and took 2 hours’ train to Kamakura. There is only one reason worth me to take so long transport time to Kamakura – “SLAM DUNK”.
Kamakura is at the west coast of Kanagawa Prefecture, with around 1 hour train from the center of Tokyo. Kamakura is only a small town with population around 180K, but it was the
capital of Japan during the Kamakura period (1185-1333). In Kamakura, you may see a lot of history from the Kamakura period.
Furthermore, as Kamakura is at the coast, every summer there are lot of young people having their vacation in the place. It is also the place that many Japan dramas and films take shot. “SLAM DUNK”, super famous animation in Japan, also have a lot of scene and picture of Kamakura.
I woke up at 6am and bought a sandwich in convenient store. Then I started the journey. After taking a long way of 2 hours, I finally arrived Kamakura at 9am. I walked to the beach and saw the big sea. Far away at the right side was Enoshima, also a beautiful island. As it might be too early there were only few people on the beach. ~~I started to imagine young ladies with bikini running and swimming at the beach in the afternoon.~~
Walking along the sea, the left side of the railway track and right side was the sea. It’s the feeling of relaxing. I believed it was the true life of Japanese, the relaxing life in town.
After 10 minutes’ walk, I finally arrived my destination. Do you still remember of MV of the theme song of “SLAM DUNK”? Sakuragi stood in front of the rail track and Haruko said hi to him at another side of the track. That’s the place!
After the great memories of SLAM DUNK, I took the Enoshima Electric Railway to Kamakura station. The railway started operation in 1902, with over 100 years’ history. It is the only electric railway on the ground in Japan now. The tram remained its traditional old style and drove along the sea. Then it go through the residential buildings letting you enjoy the beautiful view in Kamakura.
Arriving Kamakura station, I visited the Komachi-dori Street. It was already a lively street 1000 years ago and now the street is lined with over 250 restaurants, boutiques, fancy cafes and souvenirs stores. And I found a Donguri Republic! The cartoons of Miyazaki Hayao were my best friends when I was in childhood. I like the cartoons of Miyazaki Hayao so much!
Although Kamakura is quite far away from Tokyo center, if you like silence and relax, Kamakura is the best place for you. Next time if I visit Tokyo again, I will probably stay in Kamakura for few days to enjoy the environment.

Shichirigahama Beach in Kamakura Shonan 七里ヶ浜
Shichirigahama is a beach that stretches from Koyurigimisaki Cape, near Fujisawa, to Inamuragasaki Cape, west of Kamakura.Shichirigahama Beach in Shonan can be reached from Tokyo by train. Shichirigahama station is only 5 minutes walk from the beach. This beach has great waves for surfing if a typhoon passes close by.

My Perfect Kamakura Day Trip Itinerary from Tokyo
Kamakura, a small town rich in history and culture, is the perfect day trip from Tokyo. It is especially famous for the Great Buddha statue but has other interesting Buddhist Temples and Shinto Shrines.
It was my 100th visit (okay maybe I exaggerate a bit) and I always have an amazing time. There is so much to see, do, and experience in Kamakura that it is one of the destinations in Japan that you shouldn't miss.

Japan Kamakura Travel Vlog
If you want a one day trip from Tokyo, Kamakura would be a good option. It takes only about an hour to reach there. Kamakura is also a more laid back countryside area, it's different than the big city like Tokyo. We visited several places there :
- Kamakura Kokomae : a place where the anime Slam Dunk took inspiration from
- Shichirigahama : We went to bill's cafe to try out their fluffy ricotta hotcakes
- Gokurakuji Station : got featured in a J drama called Umimachi Diary
- Hasedera temple : a Buddhist temple
- Kamakura Komachi Street : A place where you can find a bunch of Japanese local street food

Baad is a Japanese rock band that formed in 1992 and debuted on February 1993 with the single Donna Toki Demo Hold Me Tight and quickly rose to the top. Their biggest hit came months later with the single Kimi ga Suki da to Sakebitai that was used in the anime series Slam dunk. The main vocalist and lyricist Yamada Kyouji left the band in 1995 and replaced by Hata Hideki as a second vocalist. Following that, the band switched labels from ZAIN Records to Nippon Columbia. The band disbanded in 1999 due to unknown reasons.
