Old Edo Town Kawagoe - Saitama ᴴᴰ ● 川越 埼玉
► Kawagoe is also know as Koedo, (*Little Edo) as some of its streets - featured in the video - preserve the old beautiful castle town from the Edo period in the 16th. century.
It's a great example of old meets new in Japan, with plenty of architecture from bygone days - almost like being on a movie set of some samurai movie, if it wasn't for the cars passing by, breaking the illusion.
The area also hosts a wide range of traditional old shops and restaurants, and if your feet are tired, why not take a tour around the area by rickshaw? Kawagoe is located approx. a 1 hour train ride by Saikyu Line from central Tokyo. - Enjoy!

The rolling stock is the main attraction with trains from all years of the past. Locomotives to carriages, older shinkansens and new ones.
Train simulators are quite popular, there is a history area, kids park and even kids train rides.
This train museum is an amazing place to visit.

I went to Kawagoe without much of a plan. I did not expect the beginning of Kawagoe's spring festival.
The Saitama Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore
At the Saitama Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore, as tree main themes, history, folklore and fine arts in life and culture in Saitama we perform various scientific activity. A characteristic of the our collection is to own beautiful Japanese paintings of genpei wars, and the cultural assets about the samurai. And there is Experiences Plaza, everyone can experience industrial arts and culture of Saitama easily and in earnest. To see this video of our museum, please be interested in the history and culture.
The Saitama Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore was established as the Prefectural Museum in 1971 to mark the 100th anniversary of Saitama, and was reborn as the museum of History and Folklore in 2006. The museum celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011. Tree main themes, history, folklore and fine arts in life and culture in Saitama, are introduced in the 10 permanent exhibitions with occasional renewals. And at the museum, several times a year of the special exhibitions are held. There is also the Yume-Taiken Hiroba (Dreams and Experiences Plaza), everyone can experience industrial arts and culture of Saitama easily and in earnest.

Old Japanese houses from the middle and late Edo Period (1603-1868) 浦和くらしの博物館
Urawa Kurashi no Hakubutsukan, Minka-en is an outdoor museum almost in the center of Minuma rice field in Urawa (Saitama Pref.). Seven traditional buildings from the middle or late Edo period (1603-1868) were removed and rebuilt here by restoring them to the original state. Many objects and tools, representing daily life in those days, are collected and on display as well as many agricultural tools. You can note how the walls were made and the internal and external structure of the roofs. The warehouse is the most modern building dating back to 1920.

Samurai Museum in Shinjuku, Tokyo
A video and photo documentary of my visit to the Samurai Museum in Shinjuku, Tokyo. I was really pleased to see that most of the artifacts on display in this particular museum were authentic and very old. We were even allowed to touch, handle and wear some of these ancient artifacts! Our museum guide was thoroughly impressed with my knowledge of Japanese military history and told me that I should be working there at the museum as a guide, ha! Without a doubt, it is one of the best museums that I've ever visited.
World's Most Beautiful Starbucks ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Where is the world's most beautiful Starbucks? Japan, of course.
In Toyama city's Kansui Park is a shop that has won awards for it's design, but it's also the location that makes it beautiful. Those big windows overlook a lake in a park, the building resting upon grass, surrounded by sakura trees. The fresh air off the sea of Japan and the beautiful sunsets over the nearby Japanese Alps can't be forgotten. I could sip a hot cappuccino all day here.
But wait! Starbucks newest shop in Kyoto (Ninenzaka) is a traditional tea house that looks centuries old! It's hard to tell it's a Starbucks until you see the sign. Inside, it's like going back in time. You definitely feel Kyoto's historical vibe sitting on tatami sipping macha tea ... lattes. This may also be the world's most beautiful shop.
Hakodate in Hokkaido is home to what many consider to be the coziest Starbucks in the world. It's got a fireplace, wide open rooms and stairs, natural hard wood floors and a beautiful deck that overlooks Hakodate Bay. It's super cozy!
Yeah, visiting Starbucks is certainly one attraction for many visitors because it seems more than just a chain coffee shop. To me, it a reflection of the world around us -- and a really good cup of coffee.

Sawara is located in Katori, Chiba, Japan.
Sawara has been settled since prehistoric times, and has numerous remains of Jōmon period shell middens and Kofun period burial mounds. Traditional events were celebrated every year. Early February to late March they celebrate the Hina Doll Tour also known as Girls Day is a festival to pray for the health and safety of daughters by displaying hina dolls on the Peach Day. Sawara Grand Festival celebration is July and October is traditionally believed in Japan that countless gods and deities live in the country. This is because agriculture, including rice faming, has long played a significant role in the lives of Japanese people. Farmers and others held many festivals to have gods grant their wishes. The Sawara Wife Association organizes the Bon Festival in Sawara in mid-August every year. As part of the event, people release lanterns into the Onogawa River, which runs through central Katori City. That is called Yume Toro Nagashi (Dream lantern releasing). The Suigo Omigawa Fireworks Festival One of the greatest fireworks events in the Kanto region, the traditional Suigo Omigawa Fireworks Festival over the Omigawa River has been lighting up the night sky over the riverside region for more than a century. The annual fireworks festival is held on Aug. 1 on the bank of the Tonegawa River near the Omigawa Ohashi Bridge. Of 8,000 fireworks set off in the festival, the spectacular view of the “on-the-water-surface star mine” and Niagara Falls set fireworks has especially won high praise, attracting more than 150,000 spectators each year.
