Travel Venice, Italy - Touring the Canals of Venice
Take a tour of Canals of Venice in Italy -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Italy is a country of many famous sights, foremost of which are the Venice Canals.
Canals are everywhere in Venice. You will not find any automobiles here.
Because of these waterways, Venice has a reputation for being the world's most romantic city.
Nearly as famous as the canals themselves are the gondolas that travel up and down them.
Many of these boats are available to rent for guided tours or romantic voyages.
It's an unreal experience to sail down watery streets between the buildings of Venice.
Venice's mild, Mediterranean climate means that trips on the canals can be enjoyed year round.

How to bring your car to Venice, Italy - practical info | allthegoodies.com
(A) Available for all.
Venice is not the most car friendly city in the world. In fact it is impossible to get around in a car at all. If you are on vacation, your car is propably packed with stuff. And possibly not organized in the best way. So what should you do if you are driving your car to Venice? We came up with two alternatives, the one better than the other, which we present in this video.

Visit the Island of Certosa in Venice Italy
Only one boat stop away from Venice, lies the island of La Certosa. A monastic island under the Venetian Republic, which became a military installation under Napoleonic rule, Certosa is now entirely dedicated to outdoor recreation.
On the island there are a Marina and shipyard, one small hotel with a bar and a restaurant, nature trails, a small beach and a large park.
Certosa can be reached by private boat, water taxi and the public vaporetto line 4.

Venetian Gondola / Italy, Venice
The gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian Lagoon. For centuries gondolas were the chief means of transportation and most common watercraft within Venice. In modern times the iconic boats still have a role in public transport in the city, serving as traghetti (ferries) over the Grand Canal. They are also used in special regattas (rowing races) held amongst gondoliers. It is similar to punting, except it uses an oar to propel it instead of a pole. Their primary role, however, is to carry tourists on rides at established prices (

Venice (Italian: Venezia) is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It is situated on a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. The islands are located in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay that lies between the mouths of the Po and the Piave rivers (more exactly between the Brenta and the Sile). In 2018, 260,897 people resided in the Comune di Venezia, of whom around 55,000 live in the historical city of Venice (Centro Storico).

Take a Walk on the Venice Canals in Los Angeles, CA
We Like L.A. helps you find the best things to do in Los Angeles!
In this video we take a walk on the Venice Canals.
The Venice Canal Historic District is hands-down one of the most unique residential neighborhoods in Los Angeles. The original canals were conceived as part of Abbot Kinney's broader vision for 'Venice of America' which included a auditorium and ship cafe near the pier, gondola tours, and trolley service to/from Santa Monica and Downtown. Even though Venice of America was a big hit when it first opened, popularity waned after Kinney's death in November of 1920. By the end of the decade that followed most or all of the canals had been filled in.
Although the Venice Canal District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, it wasn't until 1992 that a full-on renovation project took place. Renovations included dredging the canals, adding new sidewalks and walls, and the removal of toxic soil. All told it cost around $6 million, but that price tag helped make the canals what they look like today.
If you're planning to go check out the canals for yourself here are a couple tips:
1) It'll get a bit chilly there on cool evenings or during the winter months so you'll definitely want to bring an extra layer if you plan on hanging out there for more than a short while.
2) The closet parking would be in the residential neighborhood along Ocean Blvd. That's where we parked for this shoot, but we were there on a Wednesday at 8 a.m. so parking was a non-issue. On weekends it's going to get crowded, and so you might try your luck at one of the meters on Washington Blvd, limited street parking on Venice Blvd, or in one of the nearby pay lots closer to the beach.
3) The boat parade we mentioned in the video happens annually on the first Saturday of December. The surroundings lights on the bridges are usually up for a good month though. Here's the link:
