The Artist's House is quiet and peaceful, a house in a neighbourhood that calls back time, a place full of rich history and culture. In this documentary we will be presenting you Thai Puppetry as well as Klong Bang Luang neighbourhood, Artist's House background, the actors background, and some feedbacks from customers. At last, we will know Baan Silapin plans in their future. We also want to persuade new generations to preserve and maintain Thai puppet art or any other Thai arts.
This documentary is a part of sophomore students dedicated to Digital Video Production Class from Digital Communication Design, Silpakorn University International College. Silpakorn University.

Baan Silapin in Klong Bang Luang features centuries-old house which has been turned into an art gallery in Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand.
This traditional art house runs along one of Bangkok's canals, where you will find shops, cafes, local restaurants and more.
It's quite a peaceful neighbourhood, with locals going on about their daily lives.
It is a great place to get away from the city and just chill by the canal, have coffee, admire traditional art works and enjoy the local side of Bangkok.

Baan Silapin (บ้านศิลปิน), also known as Bangkok's Artist's House or Baan Khlong Bang Luang, is a two hundred year old wooden home in the city. It's located across the Chao Phraya river from much of downtown Bangkok, in an area known as Thonburi, right along one of the main canals. Arriving to Baan Silapin (บ้านศิลปิน) is a real throwback in time, it feels like you're far removed from the chaos and clutter of Bangkok and back to how the city was when it first started to be settled and developed. The only reason you know you're still in Bangkok is the obnoxious thundering longtail boats that zoom past every few minutes. The Artist's House is along one of the main tour canals, so it does have a lot of boat traffic - but it's still a great place to visit.
So we arrived to Baan Silapin (บ้านศิลปิน) in the early afternoon and after walking around a few of the shops, we then went straight to Bangkok Artist's House and decided to grab lunch. Khao gaeng, or a variety of Thai curries and prepared dishes was on the menu. I chose a bowl mushroom coconut milk curry, bitter melon stuffed with pork, a fried mackerel fish and omelet served with shrimp paste hot sauce, and a plate of rice topped with a fried egg. Sitting on the side of the house with a view of the canal was a memorable way to enjoy a feast. The food was good and the view was excellent.
At 2 pm each day except Wednesday (and occasional off days when the dancers get hired off site for a private event) there's traditional Thai puppet show. The show is one of the main reasons to visit Baan Silapin (บ้านศิลปิน) in Bangkok. The performance was very well done and the puppets depicted a story from Hanuman. I was impressed and I would highly recommend the show to anyone who visits Bangkok.
After the Thai traditional puppet show, we had a coffee and sat relaxing at Baan Silapin (บ้านศิลปิน) for a few more minutes before heading back to the road and catching a taxi home. Bangkok Artist's House is still an off the beaten track attraction to explore in Bangkok. It's a nicely preserved home and a real fun activity when you visit!

How to get there: If you don't take a longtail boat from the Chao Phraya, the best way to get there is by taking a taxi to Charoen Sanitwong Soi 3. Go all the way to end of the road at the 7-Eleven. Then walk across the footbridge, make a left, and you'll be at Baan Silapin in just a few minutes.

The Artist House is located at Khlong Bang Luang Community. It is far from our Central Old Town Cottage inn 7.5 kilometers. You can get there by taxi within about 17 minuets depend on the traffic. Or you can use MRT or free public boat to get there. (for more detail please visit our website)
“Khlong Bang Luang” is the heritage community since Ayuthaya was capital city. It is located along Bang Luang canal or another name is Bangkok Yai canal. This canal used to be old Chao Phraya river. But the king in the past made the new bypass way, so it became Chao Phraya river since that time instead.
Highlight
– The Artist House, free Traditional Thai Puppet show at 2 pm. only on Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun/ 1 time per day (to make sure, you have to call them to check for a show in advance. Because if they have to show outside in a certain day, they may cancel the show of that particular day. Their phone no. is +66-0-28685279) But if you miss the show, don’t worry! The Artist House museum on 2nd floor have a lot more to see. Suggestion, the show is free but you can give some money to their donation box for support their show and their museum.

Bangkok's Artist's House Baan Silapin is also know as Baan Khlong Bang Luang. It's located in the area of Thonburi, on one of the main canals leading from the Chao Phraya. The Artist's House is over 200 years old and made of wood and in the center of the house is an old Chedi. Every day at 2 pm except Wednesday there's a traditional Thai Puppet show about the story of Hanuman.
You can get some fresh brewed coffee or some food at the Artist's House as well and enjoy the view on the canal.

บ้านศิลปิน Baan Silapin 箜邦龍木偶劇團 Khlong Bang Luang Puppet Show
運河、百年木屋、鯰魚、魚餌、面具、木偶，悠閒的人們...喔不是，這紅人與白人的雕塑，正是藝術家們的創作之一，這裡是位在曼谷昭披耶河西邊一處水上人家的木偶劇院 (Artist's House 藝術家之屋)，每天下午兩點在庭院式的劇場裡，表演泰國傳統孔舞的木偶劇，民眾可自由入座免費觀賞。劇場中還有一座大城王朝時期的12層佛塔遺跡。演出前有解說人員為大家介紹環境以及做木偶劇的說明，接下來進行開演前的參拜，表演即將開始。
泰國孔劇源自400多年前大城王朝的傳統戲劇，主要以舞蹈、音樂的戲劇方式，來演出印度史詩流傳的動人情節，而以木偶形態演出孔劇則已有百年歷史，不過這項傳統技藝逐漸被流行文化取代而有傳承上的危機，因此有15位年輕人，他們接受過戲劇舞蹈學校相關的專業技藝訓練，一起聚集在這裡，努力經營箜邦龍木偶劇團 (Klong Bang Luang Puppet Show)，將泰國的傳統戲劇傳承下去並發揚光大，他們在2012年也曾經獲邀至台北演出。
木偶劇每一齣戲碼的角色不盡相同，男木偶由3位男性木偶師傅操控，女木偶則由3位女性木偶師傅操縱，各角色三位一體注入木偶情感與動作，使得木偶與操控師傅舉手抬腿的動作亦配合得一模一樣，十分生動有趣，而且為了讓觀眾能專注於木偶戲上，師傅們都穿上黑衣，戴上黑面具，也成了這個劇團演出的特色。演出中還會與觀眾幽默互動，零距離的接觸，褪去神秘色彩，更增添幾分親切與溫馨。
