Big Island Cliff Fishing - New KastKing Baitcaster - Kiholo Bay Sesh Part 1
Aloha hui!
Today we head down to Big Islands Kiholo Bay for some Hawaii cliff fishing action. We start out getting a little invasive species out of an anchialine pond and make the hike over to the cliff side to get some lines in the water. I got the new KastKing Speed Demon Pro baitcaster reel that needed to get it's first sesh in, and we get it going. After a few fish we head back to the beach for lunch and more!

Kiholo Bay is an off the beaten path hike that will take you to the famous Queens Bath, turquoise water, tide pools, black sand beach, and basking Green Sea Turtles. This area is also full of history and Hawaiian heritage. There are two different routes to the bay. The main one starts at the Kiholo Bay State Park Reserve trailhead. The alternate one starts near mile mark 81, on the side of Highway 18. In this blog, we mainly focus on the main route there.

We journey over to the north westside of the Big Island Hawaii to seek out future camping/fishing spots. We were lucky to stumble across what seems like a hidden hawaii gem of a beach called Kiholo. Kiholo bay area is a well known tourist attraction, fortunately when we arrived, the area was less busy expressing the true nature of this spot. We discovered many different areas to fish from and crazy beautiful designated camping areas that would surely suffice in the many future camping trips we will definitely enjoy!

Kīholo Bay is located in the ahupua`a (historic land division) of Pu`u Wa`awa`a in the North Kona District on the Big Island of Hawaii. the land surrounding the bay is flanked to the South by a lava flow from Mount Hualalai ca. 1801 and another flow from Mauna Loa in 1859. The land surrounding Kīholo Bay is under the authority of Hawai‘i State Parks. Approximately 2 miles long (3.2 km), it is one of the island's largest bays. Kīholo Bay is now a popular site for tourists and nature enthusiasts.

BEACHES OF HAWAII. Kua Bay, Kailua-Kona
Just a little north of the Keahole Airport is one of Kona's most popular beaches; Kua Bay. There are no lifegaurds but there very nice bathrooms with showers. Come early or the parking lot will be full. People park along the access road as well. Beginners need to not go in if the surf is up. I almost missed this road to access Kiholo Bay because there was no sign, so my GPS was very helpful during our traveling in Hawaii. :) This road was not paved with concrete, so we slowly drove on this gravel road toward turquoise blue ocean. We parked a small parking spot and hiked toward the bay. During our walk to Kiholo Bay, we saw a wild small Indian mongoose in a forest very close to the beach.
