I came with my cousins to do some meditation, prayers, and donations to the spirit of King Rama V. The statue is said to have his spirit present. It is a tradition for Thai people to go to this monument and offer the spirit gifts and foods...while asking for what you want in life. A lot of people's dreams and wishes have come true. My cousin speaks to the spirit of King Rama V every week here....and many things in his life have come true. In the background is the old grand palace.

Statue of Great King
A symbol of freedom of Thailand and a landmark that for all Thais, is located at the plaza in front of the parliarment building. King Rama V is considered the King who abolished the slavery in Thailand and great King to initiated the Thai modern educational system. The area is well maintained and special events are often held here. Great Symbol and landmark worth the stop and take some photos. It is located just around the coner from the Marble Temple.
King Rama V = Chulalongkorn actually mounted a horse at the foundry in France to be modeled for this statue. After it was made the equestrian and his horse were shipped to Bangkok in 1908. During his grand tour of Europe Chulalongkorn observed many statues like this and let it known that he also wanted one.
Chulalongkorn is Siam's big modernizer. He ruled as an absolute monarch, but in many ways was ahead of his time. He saw very clearly that if he wanted to prevent Siam to become a colony of a Western power he had to embrace European technology and accelerate economic development.
Big statue of one of late Thai kings standing directly in front of beautiful Coronation Hall. Plenty of locals come to pay respects to their late king. Worth stopping by and take some photos on the way to more spectacular attractions.

King Taksin, Wang Derm Palace in Bangkok 4K That You've Never Heard of
The Wang Derm Palace located in the Thai Navy's headquarters next to Wat Arun is King Taksin the Great's palace that established the Thonburi kingdom and moved the capital from Ayutthaya to the Bangkok area. After he was succeeded by the current dynasty, you have present day Bangkok with the Grand palace situated across the Chao Phraya River.
They open the palace to the public once a year on King Taksin day here in Thailand but foreigners have to be accompanied by a Thai National so we went with Mo from Way Beyond Pad Thai to explore this little known palace.
We also visit the Taksin and Thonburi exhibit at Icon Siam a short ferry ride down the river and have a little discussion with Mo. Hope you enjoyed the video and hop over to Mo's channel for more content about foods in Thailand :)

Post 1940s Victory Parade. Democracy Monument, Bangkok. ( Seri Thai ? )
Khun Pridi takes the salute at a military parade (Seri Thai??) at Democracy Monument.
He travels up Sanam Luang, past the Rattanokosin Hotel and turns right onto Ratchadamnoen Avenue. Arriving at the monument he hops out of his car in front of one of the four the viewing pavilions - the one that is now a McDonald's burger joint.
In the soundtrack you have jolly happy Thai folk singing about their delight of 24th June 1932 coup. Which wasn't really so much about them getting a constitutional democracy as to having a military based government lumped onto them, one that was intent on state building and getting the folk to ride a tide of 1930s nationalism.
