Geology Of Kinver Edge Triassic Sandstone Rock Houses, Kinver, Staffordshire, DY7 6DL, England
I arrived at this amazing geological marvel of West Midlands on my way from a survey of Devonian Sandstone of Shropshire, and that is the reason that I have said in this video the Kinver Edge Sandstone, by mistake, is Devonian. The Sandstone at Kinver Edge is of Triassic age and was deposited when Britain was at the latitude of African Sahara, at about 23.5° N.

Kinver Edge and the Rock Houses
Kinver Edge is a remnant of the Mercian forest, although much planting dates from post-1945. There are two Iron Age hillforts on Kinver Edge the larger one Kinver Edge Hillfort, is at the northern end, while the other is at the southern end, on a promontory known as Drakelow Hill.
The area has been a popular local tourist destination since Edwardian times, when an electric tramway, the Kinver Light Railway, connected Kinver to the Birmingham tram system.
The National Trust was given 198 acres of Kinver Edge in 1917 by the children of Thomas Grosvenor Lee, a Birmingham Solicitor born in Kinver, in memory of Lee and his wife. The Trust acquired a further 85 acres between 1964 and 1980.
Holy Austin Rock Houses
Kinver Edge is home to the last troglodyte dwellings occupied in England, with a set of complete cave-houses excavated into the local sandstone. One of the rocks, Holy Austin, was a hermitage until the Reformation. The Holy Austin rock houses were inhabited until the 1960s. They are now owned by the National Trust and are open for tour. One house has been restored to a Victorian appearance, and the Martindale Caves show what life was like in the 1930s.The cottage gardens and an orchard are being replanted and restored.

එඩ්වඩ් යුගයේ සිටම මෙම ප්රදේශය ජනප්රිය දේශීය සංචාරක ගමනාන්තයක් වී ඇත. විදුලි ට්රෑම් රථයක් වන කිංවර් සැහැල්ලු දුම්රිය කිංවර් බර්මින්හැම් ට්රෑම් රථ පද්ධතියට සම්බන්ධ කර තිබිණි.
ලී සහ ඔහුගේ බිරිඳ සිහි කිරීම සඳහා කිංවර් හි උපත ලැබූ බර්මින්හැම් සොලිසිටර් තෝමස් ග්රොස්වෙනර් ලීගේ දරුවන් විසින් 1917 දී National Trust වෙත කිංවර් එජ් අක්කර 198 ක් ලබා දෙන ලදී. National Trust විසින් 1964 සිට 1980 දක්වා කාලය තුළ තවත් අක්කර 85 ක් අත්පත් කර ගත්තේය.

කිංවර් එජ් යනු එංගලන්තයේ වාඩිලාගෙන සිටින අවසාන ට්රොග්ලොඩයිට් වාසස්ථාන වන අතර, සම්පූර්ණ ගුහා නිවාස සමූහයක් දේශීය වැලි ගලට කැණීම් කර ඇත. එක් පාෂාණයක් වන ශුද්ධ ඔස්ටින් ප්රතිසංස්කරණය තෙක් ආරාමයක් වි තිබිණි. ශුද්ධ ඔස්ටින් පාෂාණ නිවාස 1960 දශකය වන තෙක් ජනාවාස විය. ඒවා දැන් National Trust සතු වන අතර සංචාරය සඳහා විවෘතය. එක් නිවසක් වික්ටෝරියානු පෙනුමකට යථා තත්වයට පත් කර ඇති අතර, 1930 ගණන් වලදී මාටින්ඩේල් ගුහා ජීවිතය කෙබඳු වීද යන්න පෙන්නුම් කරයි. මේ වන විට ගෘහ උද්යාන සහ පළතුරු වතු නැවත වගා කර ප්රතිසංස්කරණය කරමින් පවතී.
