Kojonup Barracks
This video is about Kojonup History. In 1837 Hillman was surveying a track from Albany to the Swan River Settlement. In need a water, he was led to a spring by local indigenous Noongars.The spring with in the township of Kojonup still flows today. A millitary barracks was built for soldiers on the site of the spring in 1837. A more substantial barracks was built in 1845. This barracks remains today. Local historian Arnold Bilney discusses the role of Hillman, Govenor Stirling and the Noongars.
Kojonup Western Australia | Tourist Railway, old buildings and more
Kojonup is a fairly typical Western Australian country town, about 250km south-east of Perth.
The Noongar people are the traditional owners and inhabitants and, specifically, those from this area are descendants of the Kaneang tribe.
The first European in the area was surveyor Alfred Hillman who arrived in 1837 and had been guided to freshwater spring by the Noongar people.
The site was an important staging place on the road to Albany, and in 1837 a military post was established there for the protection of travellers and the mail.
The Kojonup Tourist Railway began in 1993, after concerned locals realising what history and value would be lost should the railway line completely disappear in Kojonup. It's operated by a volunteer organisation that is working towards the preservation of the 12km of line between Kojonup and the Farrar siding.
The train usually runs the first and third Sunday of each month at 11am.
The Kojonup region has hosted some of Australia's earliest biodynamic and organic agriculture endeavours. The Marsh v Baxter case put Kojonup at the epicentre of the battle in Australia of organic versus GMO agriculture.

A COUPLE OF TRUCKIES HAVING A BREAK AT CONDAMINE, QUEENSLAND
I spotted these drivers having a break at Condamine and stopped to have a chat.
Just by talking to them I decided they were a couple of cards. What also stunned me was the fact that the worked for 28 days straight and then went home for a break of 9 days. I'm not sure about you but I was always looking forward to Friday for a couple of days off.

Cephalotus follicularis is Australia's most iconic and unique carnivorous plant species. During my trip in 2014, I found this pitcher plant at many locations between Northcliffe and Two Peoples Bay just east of Albany.
