Jakarta is the biggest city in Indonesia with a role as the capital of Indonesia as well as the government center of Indonesia. Jakarta is also one of the 33 provinces in Indonesia, and therefore governed by a governor who reports to the President of Indonesia through the Internal Affairs Minister. Due to the multi role as both a province and the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta then given a status of Special Capital Region (Daerah Khusus Ibukota=DKI).
DKI Jakarta has five municipalities and administrative regency. The five municipalities are North Jakarta (Jakarta Utara), East Jakarta (Jakarta Timur), West Jakarta (Jakarta Barat), South Jakarta (Jakarta Selatan), Central Jakarta (Jakarta Pusat), and Thousand Islands Regency (Kepulauan Seribu). Each municipality headed by a Mayor who assists to prepare the planning of their region. Thousand Island is headed by a Regent who's responsible on the financial matters.

Kota Tua, Jakarta is an area of Dutch colonization inheritance which was well-known as Batavia in the 17th century.
At Kota Tua area you can see old buildings with architecture style influenced by the Dutch or European architecture style, Chinese and even some of them with combination of Dutch and Chinese architecture. Some of the old buildings at Kota Tua area occupied as museums by the governor of DKI Jakarta. Kota Tua is one of a very interesting place or area to visit when you travel to Jakarta since it's a center of historical tourism object in Jakarta.

Jembatan Kota Intan
VOC membangun jembatan ini tahun 1628, sebagai penghubung antara Benteng Belanda dan Benteng Inggris, yang berseberangan dibatasi oleh Kali Besar. Karena itulah jembatan ini disebut Engelse Brug atau Jembatan Inggris. Tak lama usianya, jembatan ini rusak ketika Banten dan Mataram menyerang Benteng Batavia tahun 1628 dan 1629. Setahun kemudian dibangun kembali oleh Belanda, saat itu dikenal dengan nama de Hoenderpasar Brug (Jembatan Pasar Ayam), karena lokasi di sekitarnya jadi tempat perdagangan ayam. Jembatan Kota Intan adalah nama terakhir yang diberikan, karena letaknya dekat dengan salah satu bastion Kastil Batavia yang bernama Bastion Diamant (= Intan). Kastil Batavia yang merupakan kota tua Batavia, disebut juga sebagai Kota Intan.
Dahulu ada banyak jembatan sejenis di Batavia, yang dibangun dengan gaya tradisional Belanda. Banyak kanal dibangun Belanda di Batavia, sebagai pengaturan tata-air maupun untuk transportasi sungai. Akibatnya, banyak pula diperlukan jembatan penghubung. Tahun 1655 jembatan ini kembali diperbaiki karena kerusakan akibat banjir dan korosi air laut, nama pun berganti jadi Het Middelpunt Brug. Pada April 1938 diubah menjadi jembatan gantung, agar dapat diangkat untuk lalu lintas perahu dan mencegah kerusakan akibat banjir, namun bentuk dan gayanya tak pernah diubah. Lalu dinamai Ophalsbrug Juliana atau Juliana Bernhard, karena waktu itu Ratu Juliana yang menjadi Ratu Belanda. Sebelumnya, dinamai Jembatan Wilhelmina (Wilhelmina Brug), ibu dari Juliana. Saat ini, Jembatan Kota Intan merupakan satu-satunya yang tersisa dari jembatan sejenis yang pernah dibangun Belanda.
