Dawn Flight at Cape Hedo (Kunigami-son)
Cape Hedo (辺戸岬 Hedo-misaki), also known as Hedo Point, is the northernmost point on Okinawa Island, located within Kunigami Village. A cape jutting out north from the island, it faces the South China Sea on the west, and the Pacific Ocean on the east. On a particularly clear day, the island of Yoron (Yoronjima) in Kagoshima Prefecture can be seen on the horizon. The monument erected there is to commemorate the end of US Occupation and return of Okinawa to Japanese sovereignty

Of the many hiking trails on Okinawa this is one of my favorites. The trailhead is about 2 km inland from National Route 58 along the island's western coast on the East China Sea. From there it's approximately 1.7 km along the forest paths, trails, stairs and bridges to get to the waterfall. The sound of the forest is amazing! At one point, maybe half-way of so along the trail we encountered a suspension bridge that was about 80 feet above the riverbed below. A very nice scene. Come on along - let's do this!

The Waya Soba Shop at the Yuiyui Kunigami Road Station 3-2-17
While gallivanting around March 2, 2017 we stopped in at the Yuiyui Kunigami michi no eki (road station) and picked up a bunch of souvenir-type stuff and lots (and lots) of chinsuko! After that we stepped out of the store and to our delight found the Waya Soba Shop. It was DyLon's first taste of Okinawa-made yakisoba in 27 years! Yeah, he thought it was pretty durned tasty!

Yui Yui Kunigami is a roadside rest area located on National Highway 58 in Okuma, Kunigami Village, Kunigami District. The facilities include shops selling local specialty products such as Karagi Tea, restaurants and cafés serving food made from local ingredients, retail outlets selling Kunigami-grown vegetables, a restaurant serving Kunigami’s famous local pork (and wild boar) specialty dishes, a fish paste store selling fish paste made from only the freshest fish, a flower shop, and a tourist information office. There is also a set of children’s play equipment outdoors.
