Der eigentlichen Aufgabe eines Museums, nämlich ein Ort für Kunstwerke zu sein und ein Ort für Menschen, die diesen Kunstwerken in Ruhe begegnen möchten, hat sich der Schweizer Architekt Peter Zumthor nach eigenen Worten mit seinem Entwurf für das Kunsthaus Bregenz verpflichtet.

Carsten Höller: Carrousel at the Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria, presents five interrelated works of the internationally renowned German artist Carsten Höller (born 1961 in Brussels, Belgium; lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden). For Bregenz, Carsten Höller staged his most comprehensive solo exhibition in Austria to date. The show involves five works of rotating and repeating elements. On the ground floor the Kunsthaus Bregenz shows Carsten Höller’s huge carrousel “R B Ride” (2007). On the first floor, visitors experience an overwhelming light space, which creates the impression of the room itself rotating. The second floor is optically divided diagonally, one side with mirrored walls. For the third floor, Carsten Höller has constructed the “Drehendes Hotelzimmer”, a revolving hotel room. Interested visitors can book the room for one night on Fridays or Saturdays. And then there’s a view out of the hotel room created by a projection screen. In the projection’s foreground, the “Fliegende Stadt” can be seen with its rotating towers, a transparent construction based upon Russian architect Georgi Krutikow’s 1928 thesis, whose utopian vision was of a flying city, where people would live and work, returning to earth only for recreation.

The American artist Richard Prince is mainly known for his photographs of iconic pictures from pop culture and his text images of chauvinist jokes. The exhibition It's a Free Concert at Kunsthaus Bregenz is the first large-scale solo show by Richard Prince in an Austrian institution. On display are works that revolve around rock and pop music, sex, and American car culture. In this video, we attend the opening reception of the exhibition on July 18, 2014.

| The Kunsthaus in Bregenz / Austria explores the architectural work of Ai Weiwei with a solo show titled Art / Architecture. On the three levels of architect Peter Zumthor's Kunsthaus building, the exhibitions focuses on Ai Weiwei's collaborative architecture projects such as the Beijing National Stadium (colloquially known as the Bird's Nest) developed in collaboration with the architects Herzog and de Meuron, but also numerous projects with lesser known architects. The Kunsthaus in Bregenz / Austria explores the architectural work of Ai Weiwei with a solo show titled Art / Architecture. While not as widely presented as his artistic oeuvre, Ai Weiwei's work in the field of architecture is extremely important for the artist because of the collaborative -- that is social and political -- aspect of it.
On three floors of architect Peter Zumthor's Kunsthaus building, the exhibition focuses on Ai Weiwei's collaborative architecture projects such as the Beijing National Stadium (colloquially as the Bird's Nest), developed in collaboration with the Pritzker price winning architects Herzog & de Meuron, but also numerous projects with lesser known architects.
This video takes you on a walk through the exhibition. The tour begins on the first floor with architectural models, plans, photographs and video documentations of specific projects, continues on the second floor with Ordos 100 (2011), a piece specifically created for this show, and finally culminates with the most abstract work of the show, Moon Chest (2008).
VernissageTV also met with the director of the Kunsthaus Bregenz, Yilmaz Dziewior, who talks about the idea behind the show, the concept of the exhibition, the significance of Ai Weiwei's architectural work, and the supporting program.

| Antony Gormley currently is in the media because of his work One and Other, a work conceived for the Fourth Plinth on the northwest corner of Trafalgar Square. Antony Gormley invited 2,400 members of the public to spend one hour on the plinth. The project runs 100 consecutive days (until October 14, 2009).
Running concurrently, Kunsthaus Bregenz dedicates Antony Gormley a major solo exhibition. The exhibition at Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria, is a major solo show that presents four key bodies of work: Body and Fruit, Critial Mass, Allotment II and Clearing V. Embedded in the context of Peter Zumthors architecture, they challenge the fine line in the human psyche that marks the mental balance between asserting oneself as an individual and blending into the masses. Bregenz is the capital of Vorarlberg, the westernmost federal state of Austria. The city is located on the eastern shores of Lake Constance, the third-largest freshwater lake in Central Europe, between Switzerland in the west and Germany in the northwest.
