Hey Everyone!
Today we're taking public transit from Los Angeles International Airport or LAX to Union Station in Los Angeles, California! Public transit in California is not particularly great but it is possible to get around the city and even the state without a car.
This vlog will take you from LAX Airport to Downtown LA via public transportation. There is a bit of an airport tour of the Tom Bradley Terminal. It was a beautiful day out!

LAX to Hollywood on Union Station Flyaway bus and Red Line 2011-10-08
A trip from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on the Flyaway bus to Union Station downtown, followed by a ride on the Red Line subway to Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood. Note the multiple-terminal pick-up, the freeway traffic downtown, and the detour of the bus through unpacked downtown streets.

Population
A total of 39,480 people lived in Westchester's 10.81 square miles, according to the 2010 U.S. census, and that figure included the uninhabited acreage of the Los Angeles International Airport—resulting in a density of 3,652 people per square mile, among the lowest population densities in the city of Los Angeles but about average for the county. The median age was 35.6, about average for Los Angeles city. The percentage of people from age 19 through 34 was among the county's highest.
In 2010 whites made up 61.1% of the population, blacks were at 14.2%, Asians at 12.0%, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander 0.3%, and others (including two or more races) at 11.9%. Those who identified themselves as Hispanic or Latino (of any race) were 18.2%.
In 2010, the mean family income (dollars) for the area was $135,026 and the median family income (dollars) was $106,302, both numbers high for the city.The percentages of families that earned more than $100,000 a year was 53.5%. Renters occupied 48.2% of the housing units, and homeowners occupied the rest. The average household size was 2.3 people, considered low for the city and county. The percentages of divorced men (8.6%) and divorced women (11.9%) were among the county's highest.
The 2,000 census counted 3,055 military veterans, 9.2% of the population, considered a high percentage for the city of Los Angeles but about average for the county.

This driving tour takes you from Century Blvd, the street that has all major airport hotels and was congested, probably due to lots of people leaving Los Angeles to visit their hometowns for Thanksgiving to Airport Blvd and to W.. 98 street, which is mostly surrounded by the airport parking lots and structures, to the Vicksburg Avenue and to the LAX arrivals, which are on the lower level.
After you exit the Airport, the road takes you to Sepulveda Blvd tunnel which is built under the airplane runway, to the Interstate freeway 105 East.
After about 5 miles, you take Freeway 110 North, which takes you to the Downtown Los Angeles.
The tour ends near the Staples center, home of the local basketball and hockey teams
and a brightly decorated shopping area, called LA Live, which has a giant Christmas tree and the outdoor ice skating ring.

You are watching a driving tour of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
The tour starts at the obsevation point in the city of El Segundo. It's the nice place to watch airplanes land and take off, support vehicles running very fast to bring sipplies.
The Imperial Hill area (also known as Clutter's Park) in El Segundo is a prime location for aircraft spotting, especially for takeoffs.
There are plane hangars on the left, servicing United and American Airliners, control tower and an iconic restaurant.
Then we drive through the tunnel. that takes us right under the runway.
First we by the departures, which are on second floor, then we check out arrivals, then we exit the airport through the little road between the parking structures.
After exiting the LAX through the Sepulveda Tunnel, we take a small ride on Los Angels' newest freeway I-105 East and exit to I-405 North.

Flyaway LAX to Union Station 5/12/2015
Shot with a Sony Alpha 65. This was one of my first attempts at shooting with a DSLR and a flat profile. Unfortunately, the Alpha 65 and its replacement, the Alpha 68, don't have flat presets, so I used a trick I picked up from Youtube where you just turn everything down on the Portrait profile. It's not perfect, but it seems to work all right for me.
The color grading was done in DaVinci Resolve, but when I shot this there wasn't a whole lot I could do with the finished footage afterwards. Live and learn, you know?

Here is a video of Los Angeles International Airport's Tom Bradley International Terminal, or TBIT. The TBIT is a great-looking building, and it's now connected airside to Terminals 4 through 8 via a new walkway. (You can also connect airside from the TBIT to Terminals 2 and 3 using a bus). This video also features the American Eagle regional terminal, along with the bus ride to this terminal. As always, I hope you enjoy!
