The Way Out Wagon to Wigtown es la primera exposición que se realiza en España de Derek Yaniger, el más divertido y aclamado ilustrador de la galaxia del retro-modernismo. La inspiración de Derek nace de lo mejor de la ilustración, el cómic, la animación, y el diseño gráfico de los 50 y los primeros 60, y de todo el optimismo que recorría Estados Unidos en aquellos años reflejándose en la cultura popular: música, cine, arte, y consumo. Los coches tenían aletas gigantescas, en las casas de los barrios residenciales el sótano se convertía en un bar polinésico, la Luna y la conquista espacial se conocían a través de los programas para televisión de Walt Disney (y luego de Los Supersónicos de Hanna-Barbera), Las Vegas era la meca del entretenimiento y el glamur, y el easy-listening y el rock&roll del joven Elvis, los beatniks, los hipsters (originales), y el burlesque eran el pan nuestro de cada día.
DEREK YANIGER. Nacido en el estado sureño de Arkansas en 1960, Derek Yaniger se interesó por el dibujo y la ilustración desde su más tierna infancia. Después de graduarse en Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Georgia trabajó durante tiempo para Marvel Comics y Cartoon Network (dibujando entre otra cosas Spiderman, Transformers, Hellraiser, Supernenas, o Dexter) hasta que un día decidió ser él el que “bailase al ritmo de sus propios bongos”. Desde entonces, inspirado por maestros de la ilustración, la animación, y el diseño de mitad del siglo veinte (Jim Flora, Ward Kimball, Jay Ward, Charlie Harper…) ha expuesto en galerías de varios países, es el diseñador de cabecera de las mejores convenciones “retro modernas” del mundo (como Tiki Oasis), publica asiduamente en prestigiosas revistas de cultura popular como Barracuda, Atomic, Car Kulture, o Tiki Magazine, y acaba de ver publicado su tercer libro.
LA FIAMBRERA ART GALLERY. La Fiambrera es una galería de arte en el corazón del barrio madrileño de Malasaña, que desde 2014 apuesta por el surrealismo pop, el arte low-brow, el arte urbano, y la ilustración, representando a artistas como Shag, Sergio Mora, Roberta Marrero, Derek Yaniger, y otros.

La New gallery se complace en convocar la primera edición de “La New Fair”, que se celebrará en la semana del arte contemporáneo en Madrid, durante los días 20 y 21 de Febrero de 2.014.
Coordinado y comisariado por Semíramis González, La New Fair se presenta como cita experimental para conocer aquellas propuestas de artistas más jóvenes o recién licenciados, españoles o residentes en España (ya sea de manera individual o en equipo, formando un colectivo).
Este programa está dirigido a creadores que no estén dentro del circuito comercial y que sin embargo tengan proyectos de gran calidad que merecen ser expuestos, dando la oportunidad de experimentar la participación en esta particular feria de arte contemporáneo.
El propósito de esta Convocatoria, es celebrar una feria con el objetivo de establecer un nexo de unión real con lo que se está desarrollando en el panorama más emergente y a su vez dar la posibilidad a los artistas de presentar sus propuestas en un ámbito profesional, que les permita y facilite el acercamiento con el público, críticos, comisarios, prensa, coleccionistas, galeristas, etc.
Se pretende que el artista no solo produzca un proyecto artístico para una feria, sino que también se involucre directamente en la promoción, difusión y venta de su obra.
