Lafayette Reservoir Run 2015 is October 25, 2015 -
The Lafayette Reservoir Run is the city's most popular family affair, involving kids, parents, grandparents, and hundreds of serious runners from throughout the Bay Area. 2200-2500 participants compete in a 10k, 5k or 2 mile race through the heart of the downtown, around the reservoir and back. Sprinters, walkers, the stroller brigade and many of Lafayette's top four legged residents share the streets on that festive Sunday morning.

Lafayette Reservoir is one of the loveliest hidden jewels in the East Bay area of San Francisco. This is a great place to get away on a summer day or any day. It is tucked away from the hustle and noise of the cities,
and the traffic and crowds of the San Francisco Bay area.
The reservoir is part of the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD). The water at the reservoir comes primarily from the Mokelumne River which is in the Sierra foothills. It is also a nature reserve with 925 acres of sheer unexpected beauty.
This unexpected treasure is nestled in hills in Lafayette, California. If you didn't know it was there, you might drive right by the entrance and be totally unaware that this surprise bit of nature even exists.

Turf War At The Bay Area Largest Water Agency
here's a bit of controversy swirling around the Bay Area's largest water agency.
The East Bay Municipal Utility District is considering extending rebates to customers who install artificial grass, but not everyone is happy.
EBMUD officials are still split on the issue and plan to discuss it again during a meeting next month.
In the meantime, some homeowners are moving ahead with their conversion to fake grass, but not everyone likes the idea of being rewarded for it. Tor Mclean's yard in Lafayette is getting an extreme makeover. He's saying goodbye to dirt and gravel and hello to synthetic turf. This happened to be done at a time when everyone else is doing it. It's going to look pretty. It's going to look good, won't have to spend a lot of money on it, conserve water, he said.
There could be new incentives for EBMUD customers who go synthetic. EBMUD already offers rebates of up to $ 2,500 to customers who switch to drought-tolerant landscapes. Cash rewards may be extended to those who fake it with the artificial turf with a rebate cap of $1,200. The idea being, that if you're going to convert your landscape there should be some natural material to convert it, not all artificial, EBMUD spokesperson Abby Figueroa said.
However, some environmentalists don't like giving rebates for something fake. StopWaste sent a letter to East Bay Mud in protest. This stuff has no place to go after its useful life other than a landfill and people may install it and send it to landfill a few years after the drought is over, Stop Waste spokesperson Gary Wolff said.
Business is booming for the synthetic turf industry. Hayward-based Global Syn-Turf says it is barely keeping up with demand.
Some customers can pay up to $10 a square foot for the look of real grass and a rebate may help defer the cost.

Nicasio Reservoir is a major landmark in Nicasio. It is man made shallow reservoir and covers 845 acres. It is built by constructing Seegar Dam over Nicasio Creek in 1961. The water evaporates quickly because it is broad and shallow and because of Seegar dam it cannot support local coho salmon and steelhead trout. The reservoir is used for boating and recreational fishing.

A homeowner snapped this shot of Jimmie Cox diving into murky water to try and fix the problem. Inside Edition connected Cox with Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs, who commended the plumber for his dedication to his dirty job. St. Francis Dam Disaster
The St. Francis Dam was a curved concrete gravity dam, built to create a large regulating and storage reservoir for the city of Los Angeles, California. The reservoir was an integral part of the city's Los Angeles Aqueduct water supply infrastructure. It was located in San Francisquito Canyon of the Sierra Pelona Mountains, about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Downtown Los Angeles, and approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of the present day city of Santa Clarita.
The dam was designed and built between 1924 and 1926 by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, then named the Bureau of Water Works and Supply. The department was under the direction of its General Manager and Chief Engineer, William Mulholland.
At 11:57 p.m. on March 12, 1928, the dam catastrophically failed, and the resulting flood took the lives of at least an estimated 431 people. The collapse of the St. Francis Dam is considered to be one of the worst American civil engineering disasters of the 20th century and remains the second-greatest loss of life in California's history, after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. The disaster marked the end of ct liability.

Lafayette (formerly, La Fayette) is a city in Contra Costa County, so abide by it's codes as well as California Penal codes.
Let's talk about Lafayette California's knife Ordinances.
Like many other places there is not an overall city Ordinance against knives. There is a specific regulation against Dangerous Weapons in parks. So unless you're in a park in this city the overall state Penal code for knives apply.
So let's start, first in Title 11 called Public Property & Works there is Part 1 called Park Regulations it the name it also states (For the Lafayette Community Park & 711 St. Mary's Road Sports Fields) Okay within that there is a Chapter 11-4 called Prohibitions on use.
Within that chapter there is section 11-409 called Firearms & dangerous instruments. it states Except for those persons listed in Penal Code Section 12031 (b) & 12031 (c), no person may possess in a park a dangerous weapon, device, firearm or destructive device as that term is defined in Section 12301 of the Penal Code
First of Penal code 12031 B &penal code 12031 C have been revoked. So I don't know what they said, however in Penal code 186.22. it does refer to 12031.In sub section (33) Carrying a loaded firearm in violation of Section 12031 until January 1, 2012, &, on or after that date, Section 25850.Now 25850 refers to guns so I will ignore it for the purposes of this Knife video. Now since they don't define what they call a dangerous weapon it's vague enough for Law enforcement to use to charge you with just about anything. So probably best not to wear a knife in parks in this city
Next section 11-415 called Dangerous games & activities. it states It is a violation of this part to do any of the following acts in a park: Jumping to part (e)Possess or discharge a paint gun, spear, bow & arrow, crossbow, slingshot, air or gas weapon, or other dangerous weapon within a park; and there is more but not pertaining to knives
As I said before the Dangerous Weapon isvague, maybe it was created that way for maximum flexibility for law enforcement but it sucks for law abiding Knife carrying citizens. So again I don't recommend you wear a knife in a park in La Fayette city
