Sorapiss, also referred to as Sorapis or Punta Sorapiss, is a mountain in the Dolomites within the Veneto region of northern Italy. Situated in the comune of Cortina d'Ampezzo, it has an elevation of 3,205 metres (10,515 ft). In its vicinity is a mountain pass of the same name, as well as Lago di Sorapiss (Sorapiss Lake), at the foot of the mountain.
Sorapiss, with its huge perpendicular faces, forms part of the mountainous backdrop to the resort town of Cortina, situated roughly 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) to the southeast of the town. The limestone dolomite formations, which are irregular, rugged and sharp-edged peaks, are part of the Eastern Alps. The Cristallo group lies to the north past the Passo Tre Croci, and its southern neighbour is the Antelao. A path to Sorapiss starts at Passo Tre Croci and continues along an easy slope, reaching the refuge at the base of the Sorapiss range, close to Lago di Sorapiss, which is at an elevation of 1,923 metres (6,309 ft).
The elevation of Sorapiss is 3,205 metres (10,515 ft). The mountain has three ridges: a central ridge, a southern ridge, which is the part of the mountain that can be seen from Cortina, and, beyond a high pass and little to the west, a northern ridge that culminates in the skiing area of Mount Faloria. There are three glaciers on the mountain's slopes, although these have been melting considerably in recent years. Lago Sorapiss, at the foot of the mountain, is a glacial lake at an elevation 1,925 metres (6,316 ft).

L'ultima avventura del grande viaggio della scorsa Estate ha avuto luogo presso il magnifico lago di Sorapiss, dalle acque turchesi. Un'atmosfera indimenticabile, fiabesca, immersi nel silenzio della natura, a 2000 metri di altitudine. È stata di certo un'escursione piuttosto impegnativa che ha messo a dura prova la nostra resistenza ma che ci ha regalato poi un'enorme soddisfazione.

Lago di Mizurina & Cortina D'ampezzo
Lake Misurina is the largest natural lake of the Cadore and it is 1,754 m above sea level, near Auronzo di Cadore (Belluno).
Lake Misurina is where the speed skating events were held during the 1956 Winter Olympics of Cortina d'Ampezzo – the last time Olympic speed skating events were held on natural ice.
The lake is only abour 30 min away from Tre Cime by bus, so it's a must see if you are visiting the Dolomites.

Day 3 - hike past the Cinque Torri, loop back round to town - 32km
Day 4 - hike up to Lago di Sorapis, then up a mountain, loose the path, have to hike back down - 29km
Day 5 - travel to Lago di Braies, stay in Pragser Wildsee, walk around the lake, drank pints - 11km
Day 6 - travel back to Venice, spend final night drinking more pints
Day 7 - up at 4.30am, make it into work for 9.30am back in London

We passed through these two mountain villages in the Italian Dolomite region on a coach tour primarily of Austria and Switzerland in 2004.
LAKE SORAPISS HIKE, DOLOMITES ITALY
After completing our hike from Rifugio Locatelli, we headed over to Lake Sorapiss.

On our way to Sorapiss, we made a quick stop at Lake Misurina. A Postcard setting, with a small lake surrounded by pine forests and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the background. Dominating its end is The Grand Hotel Misurina. Certainly worth a stop...
We then headed over to Lake Sorapiss. The Hike starts from Passo Tre Croci, and it is 5.2 km (each way), and should take around 2 hours to reach the lake.
The hike is easy to moderate, but there are some very tricky and narrow passages to get past (there are ropes to hold on to and some ladders for easing the hike).
It is not recommended for anyone afraid of heights. Hiking shoes are a must, as some parts are quite sharp and rocky.
Beautiful scenery on the hike up and when you finally get to the lake, it's Breathtakingly stunning. It really has a unreal Tiffany blue color, that has to be seen to be believed.
We took some time to relax, and feel the alpine cold water.
We made a quick stop at Rifugio Vandelli nearby, to grab something to eat before heading back.
We started our hike around 2pm and we were back in the car park by 6pm including lunch stop and picture stops during the day.
I wish we had more time to spend in this area, but it was getting late and we still had to drive to Val di Funes which was our final stop in Dolomites for the next three days.
When we return to the area, we would definitely stay at the Rifugio to experience the lake in late evening and early morning light.

The Tofana area contains a large number of hike and bike trails at every level of difficulty, as well as some of the most spectacular via-ferrata routes in the Dolomites. The ferrata Punta Anna leads towards the very top of the Tofana di Mezzo, while the ferrata Lipella takes excursionists to the summit of the magnificent Tofana di Rozes.
Rock climbing enthusiasts will find a fantastic maze of walls and climbing routes, a testimony to the history of mountaineering in the Dolomites. On the lower reaches of Tofana there is no shortage of mountain bike trails.
From the beginners’ slopes of the lower area you can quickly reach the more technically demanding slopes higher up, such as the Canalone and the famous Schuss. The Freccia nel Cielo cable car takes you to Ra Valles at an altitude of 2.500m.
Take the Olympia Ski Tour to experience the unforgettable slopes of the 1956 Olympic races, which today host the Women’s Ski World Cup. The beautiful and steep Vertigine Bianca slope, for expert skiers only, is one of two slopes in Cortina not prepped, allowing skiers to enjoy fresh snow on an eco-friendly and zero impact run.

SONO STATO IN PARADISO! Ho visto i panorami più belli d'italia
Una settimana da solo con la natura, sono stato in pace tra me e me, percorsi circa 80km con un dislivello di 4436m, non sono molti potevo fare di più ma ho voluto riflettere sul senso della vita.
Ho conosciuto tanta bella gente e incontrato alcuni miei fan :)
Mi piacerebbe tanto tornare a visitare questi posti.
Queste montagne così belle hanno visto tanta sofferenza.
