The Sete Cidades Lagoon, situated in the wonderful São Miguel Island, is one of the most famous places in the Azores Archipelago.
This is the biggest fresh-water lake in the Azores, situated in the volcanic craters that form the Island, constituted by two lagoons (the Green Lagoon and the Blue Lagoon) that form a wonderful scenery of great natural beauty, one of the symbolic images of the Archipelago, classified as Protected Landscape.
The Lagoon has a maximum profundity of 33 meters and a length of 4,2km, surrounded by greenish agricultural and wild fields, surrounded by beautiful rocky cliffs that offer an unique bucolic beautiful environment.
Situada na ilha de São Miguel, a Lagoa das Sete Cidades é o maior lago de água doce do Arquipélago dos Açores, com um comprimento de 4,2 Km e uma profundidade que atinge os 33 metros. Declarada uma das 7 Maravilhas Naturais de Portugal, na categoria de Zonas Aquáticas Não Marinhas, é composta por duas lagoas - a Lagoa Verde e a Lagoa Azul - ligadas entre si e envolvidas por um cenário de cortar a respiração.

Lagoa das Sete Cidades (Ilha de Sao Miguel) Açores
Esta lagoa situa-se no concelho de Ponta Delgada, na freguesia das Sete Cidades.
É o maior lago de água doce dos Açores e é também conhecida como Caldeira das Sete Cidades.
Localiza-se na cratera de um vulcão adormecido que tem um diâmetro de 5 Km e uma superfície aproximada de 18 km2,
É uma cratera de abatimento e caracteriza-se por ter um rebordo que apresenta, em sua maior parte, vertentes muito inclinadas sendo o ponto mais alto deste rebordo o Pico da Cruz com 845 m de altitude.
É constituída por dois lagos que se encontram a uma altitude de 260 m; A Lagoa Azul, a norte, e a Lagoa Verde, a sul, ligadas por um canal pouco profundo, atravessado por uma ponte onde passa a estrada de acesso à freguesia das Sete Cidades.
O comprimento máximo da lagoa, no sentido norte-sul, é de 4,2 Km, e por uma largura máxima de cerca de 2 Km, sendo que a lagoa tem uma área aproximada de 4,35 Km2. A profundidade máxima é de 33 metros.

A Lagoa das Sete Cidade é o maior lago de água doce dos Açores e está situada numa das crateras vulcânicas que formaram esta ilha.
O complexo vulcânico onde as lagoas se encontram inclui uma caldeira com cinco quilómetros de diâmetro, lagos, cones vulcânicos, domas de lava e crateras inundadas.
A lagoa é dividida por uma ponte, mas, por ter duas cores diferentes, foram-lhe atribuídos dois nomes: a Lagoa Verde e a Lagoa Azul.
The Lagoon of das Sete Cidades is the largest lake in the Azores fresh water and is located in one of the craters that formed this island.
The volcanic complex where the ponds are includes a boiler with five kilometers in diameter, lakes, volcanic cones, lava domes and flooded craters.
The lagoon is divided by a bridge, but by having two different colors were attributed to him two names: the Green Lagoon and the Blue Lagoon.

Sete cidades. Uma freguesia do concelho de Ponta Delgada que apresenta uma das maravilhas naturais mais emblemáticas de Portugal.
Quem visita os Açores, mais precisamente a ilha de São Miguel, não quer perder a vista sobre o espelho de água da lagoa que tem dois tons, um verde e um azul. Uma obra da natureza que dificilmente encontramos noutros locais e que já deu azo a muitas e variadas lendas.
Neste video podemos ter uma ideia do Miradouro da Vista do Rei, onde se localiza o Hotel abandonado, Monte Palace, o Miradouro da Candelária com uma vista sobre o Oceano. As margens da lagoa e alguns dos animais que ali podemos encontrar, assim como a igreja da freguesia.
