Lake Casitas Recreation Area Campground near Ojai and Ventura California offers full, partial, and primitive (no water, electric, or sewer) hookup RV and tent camping in multiple locations near and adjacent to the recreational lake. A popular weekend and summer destination reservations are recommended. Special rules exist for watercraft so plan appropriately if bringing your own. Home to a newly opened water park the campground is family friendly with an active security presence and guarded gate entrance.
During winter months the park is also home to winter Californians taking advantage of the excellent rates and great weather.
Multiple playgrounds throughout the various camping loops. Sites range from paved pads to dirt tent sites along with varied ambiance depending upon the camping location. Overall a very nice camping spot near Ojai.

Lake Casitas is a lake in Ventura County, California. It was formed by Casitas Dam on Coyote Creek, 3 km before it joins the Ventura River. Santa Ana Creek and North Fork Coyote Creek also flow into the lake. The dam was constructed of earth-fill and was completed in 1959. It is 85 metres tall and was built by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. The lake has a capacity of 313 million cubic metres (3.13 billion hectolitres). The dam was built as part of the Ventura River Project. The project provides drinking water and water for irrigation. A secondary benefit is flood control.
Human contact with the water is prohibited since it is used for drinking water, but fishing, boating and camping are permitted. During the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Lake Casitas hosted the canoeing and rowing events.

This short video shows you what to expect when camping at Lake Casitas. You can see some examples of some of the sites and some panorama views of the gorgeous landscape.
We even caught a sighting of a Bald Eagle. You can tell from it's white tail and head. Amazing!
This particular weekend was extremely hot and this Lake is a 'no swim' lake. Although it doesn't really matter because the water is almost all gone.
Sadly the water level of the lake has fallen 69 ft
at the time of this video, July 2016. It's easy
to see the impact when you look at how much
the banks are exposed. Scientists say that the
lake could run dry in as few as 4 years.
Lets all try to conserve even more than before.
I would recommend visiting in the Fall or Spring, unless you buy tickets the the Casitas Water Adventure and hang out cruising the Lazy River for most of the day. The water park was beautiful and clean. But don't try to compare it to Raging Waters. This is a smaller but still very satisfying attraction. You can visit the water park without camping, so it is a nice place to take the family. So bring your picnic and your shade. Shade is limited.

Camp Comfort Campground in Ojai California offers full hookup RV and tent camping approximately 1 mile from downtown. The San Antonio Creek flows through this beautiful, lush park. There are an ample number of mature shade trees throughout. The campground is ideal for group camping and the spacious, newly renovated clubhouse is perfect for parties, reunions, company picnics, weddings, etc.
The RV campsites are situated on a small loop at the back end of the park (accessed through the main parking lot). Camp Comfort is a well maintained and scenic park. Campsites can accommodate most sized RVs. A camp host is on site year round.

Lake Casitas Campsite Mini Tour C 28
Quick tour of campsite C 28 in lake casitas (Ojai) Came for one day and the spot cost $30. Approx 5 minute drive to the lake for fishing. This campground has a lot of trees and shade around it and some swings. Nice restrooms. There is a small creek that you can hear when it's quiet. Perfect camping site for families, couples, or solo. Creek side. You can hear a lot of birds chirping while camping.

VANLIFE Chevy Roaktrek RV Setup and Camping Trip at Lake Casitas
Three day camping trip with the Roadtrek in SoCal. I ended up meeting up with some friends so there was a group of 6 rigs total. Once everyone arrived we chilled out, relaxed, played, and BBQ. After the setup I didn't get a chance to film much because I was relaxing and just forgot. This campsite was very clean and had some good trails for walks and bikes. I would recommend checking it out.
I have a couple trips coming up and plan on documenting the entire trip in the future.
