That's So Eureka: Visiting The Passion Play And Selecting A Campsite
Eureka Springs is much more than beautiful homes, art pieces and quirky roadside festivals. The hills have been home to a unique refuge since well back to the 60's as they have welcomed guests with the open arms of the Christ of the Ozarks, a sculpture like no other standing some 67 feet in height and towering over the mountains. But the grounds, known for their unique statue and play of the depiction of Christ's final days, also is the home of pieces of historical reference including a portion of the Berlin Wall and a bomb shelter from current day Isreal. It is a place of reminders of past while hoping to improve to a better future.
While visiting Eureka, this was my first stop before settling in for the night at my campground and takin a dip in the pool. Check out the full video for campground footage as well as Eureka's unique location which encourages us to better ourselves.

Minnesota and Wisconsin. Two bordering states in these United States. Both in the Upper Midwest. Both get very, very, very, very cold in the winter. And are still pretty cold in early spring and late fall as well. But the summers in both states are nice. Except for the crazy terrorist mosquitoes. But yeah, both have humid continental climates. Wisconsin gets a bit more precipitation, though.
Both are great. And Great Lakes states. Minnesota borders Lake Superior. Ah, but Wisconsin borders Lake Superior AND Lake Michigan, so does that MAKE it superior? But yeah, both states don’t ever have to worry about having enough access to fresh water. Both have similar populations, although Minnesota is growing at a faster rate. Both states are more heavily populated in the southern portion of the state, with large areas of wilderness covering the northern portions. However, Wisconsin’s population is a bit more spread out throughout the state. About 2/3 of the population of Minnesota lives in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.
Both have similar size economies. Minnesota’s GDP per capita is higher than Wisconsin’s though. Since the Great Recession, the economies of the two states have been compared a lot, and while there is a debate about the “why,” there is no doubt Minnesota’s economy has grown more. According to Forbes magazine, Minnesota is a better state for business, but both have similar unemployment rates and projected job growth. Wisconsin’s biggest industries include manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare. And yep, it holds true to its stereotype. It’s the biggest producer of cheese in the country. Boy do they take their cheese seriously. Like, really seriously. There are cheese snobs everywhere man. Anyway, Minnesota’s biggest industries are also manufacturing and agriculture, but also professional and business services.
The biggest religion in both states is...you guessed it...Christianity. Minnesota appears to be a bit more religious than Wisconsin. Both states have low crime compared to the rest of the country. You know, because they’re too cold to commit crime there.
The majority of residents from both states have ancestors from Europe. While humans have lived in both areas for thousands of years, the first Europeans to settle both were the French.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Oconomowoc (#311)
[Latest Airdate: July 20, 2017]
[Original Airdate: March 27, 2014]
As John says, Oconomowoc will make you jealous. Wait until you see the homes and the lakes (and the homes on the lakes) and the Batmobile! No kidding -- Batman and Robin live here, didn't you know? Then maybe you also don't know that in Oconomowoc you'll find: The oldest complete stained glass window at Oakbrook Esser (and the other unbelievable windows that Paul makes); Sacred Indian Lotuses that only exist in the U.S. just off Terry and Dirk's pier in Lac la Belle; A marble dog bathtub in the Marjorie Ward estate; The more than 100 million sq. ft. (not a typo!) Roundy's distribution center; and Brownberry Bread being made at the rate of 180 loaves a minute!
In downtown Oconomowoc, kids can learn to cook, adults can mediate and worship, horses can be outfitted and, of course, everyone can eat. See? John was right -- but don't be jealous, just settle in and enjoy this hard to spell town in the heart of Lake Country. Yes, Oconomowoc already has a lot of O's, but let us add one more: O-utstanding!

Wallace Avery hates his job. His ex-wife and son hate him, and he's blown his one shot at living his dream. Not wanting to face all this, he stages his own death and buys himself a new identity as Arthur Newman. However, Arthur's road trip towards anew life is interrupted by the arrival of the beautiful but fragile Mike, who is also trying to leave her past behind. Drawn to one another, these two damaged souls begin to connect as they break into empty homes and take on the identities of the absent owners: elderly newlyweds, a high-roller and his Russian lady, among others. Through this process, Arthur and Mike discover that what they love most about each other are the identities they left at home, and their real journey, that of healing, begins.
Review:
Like many of the viewers I chose to watch this for the stars, King George VI and Queen Victoria (Firth and Blunt) But I would have given it a pass if I had looked up the reviews before taking it out of my local library . Big mistake.
Never have I seen a film so consistently panned, and never have I thought the critics so consistently mistaken! Both the professional critics and other amateur viewers. To be fair, the latter gave it slightly better ratings, but not much better. Few of either stripe liked it.
Granted, it is not an easy film to watch. Its not a comedy and its not a road movie though it is zany and it does take place on the road. In fact it is in a category all its own, and for anyone who understands Colin Firth's line Family just crushes your heart, doesn't it?, it is a deeply moving observation of what it means to be human. I won't say I came away from the movie feeling good, but I did come away feeling less alone.
These are the last words spoken in the film, before each of the leading characters returns separately from their wild escapade to shoulder their family responsibilities. We see, and feel, them doing this with no words spoken.
Charlotte(Mike) Good bye, Wallace
Wallace(Arthur) Don't worry. I know where to find you!
I give it 10 out of 10 Don't miss it. Written by mirveh.
