Salt Lake City - I 80 highway in Utah
Interstate 80 (I-80) is a part of the Interstate Highway System that runs from San Francisco, California, to Teaneck, New Jersey. The portion of the highway in the U.S. state of Utah is 196.35-mile-long (315.99 km), through the northern part of the state. From west to east, I-80 crosses the state line from Nevada in Tooele County and traverses the Bonneville Salt Flats—which are a part of the larger Great Salt Lake Desert. It continues alongside the Wendover Cut-off—the corridor of the former Victory Highway—U.S. Route 40 (US-40) and the Western Pacific Railroad Feather River Route.
While traversing the neck, views can be had from I-80 of the Lake and Antelope Island. After passing the neck, the road forks, with I-80 proceeding towards the north end of Salt Lake City and SR-201 proceeding towards the south end.Historically, this intersection was the separation of US-40 and US-50. After the intersection, the freeway corridor is again bottlenecked with the Great Salt Lake to the north and the Kennecott Copper smelter and tailings pond to the south. The Kennecott's Bingham Canyon Mine, which was once considered to be the largest open-pit copper mine, can be seen in the distance.[18] The 1,215-foot-tall (370 m) Kennecott Smokestack is one of the tallest freestanding structures in the United States.Along this portion, the freeway passes the historical site of the Saltair Resort.
The freeway enters the Salt Lake Valley on the former alignment of North Temple Street until it passes the Salt Lake City International Airport, where the freeway veers slightly south and leaves the North Temple Street corridor which leads to Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City. The Green Line of the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) TRAX system briefly parallels I-80 before traveling down the center of North Temple Street. I-80 becomes concurrent with I-15 after interchanges with SR-58 and 600 South and continues south for about three miles (4.8 km), passing along the western and southern edges of downtown Salt Lake City. The southern interchange with I-15, which also includes SR-201 (21st South Freeway) and marks the end of the concurrency, is known as the Spaghetti Bowl,.In the southwestern corner of the Spaghetti Bowl is another portion of the UTA TRAX Green Line as it travels towards West Valley City. After separating from I-15, the freeway continues easterly through South Salt Lake, loosely following an alignment just south of 2100 South and the UTA S Line streetcar through the Sugar House neighborhood and past Sugar House Park—once the home of the Sugar House Prison towards the clockwise terminus of the I-215 270° belt route around Salt Lake. It continues through Parley's Canyon, where the freeway joins the historical route of the Lincoln Highway.Between the mouth of the canyon and the Summit county line, the route re-enters the Wasatch National Forest.

An Exclusive Look Inside the Compound Warren Jeffs Shared With 79 'Sister Wives'
It looks like a motel off the beaten path, but a property in a remote area of Utah was actually the home of notorious polygamist Warren Jeffs with his 79 wives. Brielle Decker, who was wife number 65, gave Inside Edition a tour of the compound where Jeffs and his so-called sister wives lived. The rambling compound is located in Hildale, the headquarters of the radical polygamist sect run by Jeffs, who is currently serving life in prison for sexually assaulting two teenage girls.

700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human.
This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn't take long to find out that the STORY behind it... was fake, just another hoax.
While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle
Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it's skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved.
This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it's misery and buried it.
It's sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was.
I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook

Just south of Colorado Springs is one of the most famous military bases in the world, but you can’t see it. It sits one mile inside of the granite Cheyenne Mountain, 2,000 feet down from the surface.

Warren Jeffs' polygamous sect, FLDS, in 'sacred land' standoff
For the past century, the community of Short Creek, on the border between Utah and Arizona, has been the stronghold of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They’re known for practicing polygamy and following the prophet Warren Jeffs, currently serving a life sentence for pedophilia. Most of the land in Short Creek belongs to a trust founded by the FLDS church, but now managed by former FLDS members. Since current members won’t cooperate with the new secular management of the trust, many FLDS homes are facing eviction.

MOST Mysterious Ghost Towns in the US

5. Thurmond West Virginia
Once a thriving center of Coal mining in West Virginia, Thurmond was a prosperous place of commerce and businesses along the Ohio Railway. It popped up in the 1880’s in the center of the state and consisted of popular hotels, casinos, banks, schools. It was a fairly well organized city with strict laws on drinking. In 1888 a rail station was built which allowed for tourism in the area and also to carry the coal out of the hills. The population reached a peak of 462 people 1930 but steady downfall would occur not too long after. A popular hotel was burnt to the ground which which had startled much of the population and would finally reach 0 in the year 2000. You can see the contrast between the cities built out in the west and out in the east during this time. There was much more technological advancements and the addition of coal to a city at this period of time would allow them to heat their homes. Surprisingly the city hasn’t received too many vandals and much of it’s past is preserved.
4. Salton Sea
Gallons of water were sent gushing into a dry lake bed after a storm caused an irrigation canal to flood and break in the Colorado River. So the Salton Sea is basically lucky to exist in that sense. A resort town was built near this body of water, which became a popular location for boating. Many people once flocked here to soak up the sun, go jet skiing and drive fancy yachts in the booming 50’s and 60’s. Stars like the Beach Boys and Bono would encore this lake, right in the heart of California’s desert. It’s probably now the last place you’d want to go on vacation unless you enjoy putrid odors and some of those boats are left abandoned on this decaying lake.. Not all good things last forever and this place quickly turned into an ecological nightmare due to pesticides and fertilizers from nearby farms and the irrigation system. It’s seen as one of California’s biggest environmental blunders of all time It became much too polluted to sustain life even for fish. The inhabitants quickly fled once the smell of the water became unbearable. To this day, dead fish litter the once popular beaches, leaving a rotten egg like smell that would be enough to scare off any urban explorer and it’s certainly not good for tourism. The size of the lake continues to shrink even in 2017 and the smell of rotting fish will continue to get worse.
3. St Elmo Colorado
Don’t forget the rockie mountains also have their fair share of gold as well. And where there was once gold, there are abandoned towns. This places is located in the Sawatch Mountains and features well-preserved wooden buildings from the 1880’s after the gold and silver mines sprung up. The town had a general store, a town hall, 5 hotels, dancing halls and saloons during it’s peak around the 1890’s the resources were mined and not much else was left, the railroad was closed so no one kept on coming here. Some residents seemed to stay until 1952 when the postal service was cut off. If you don’t mind high elevation at 9,961 feet, this might be an enjoyable place to visit and it’s our ghost town with the highest elevation on this list.. It’s also one of Colorado’s maintained ghost towns.
2. Virginia City, Nevada
Virginia city grew quickly in the 1850’s and 60’s after the huge discovery of the comstock lode which was a major silver deposit in the sierra nevada mountains,. But once the silver was gone, everyone fled the city. You can actually explore one of our most mysterious ghost towns in the US on google maps. Check out the entire well preserved ghost town of Virginia City, which is also rumored to be one of the most haunted places in the US. Besides some of the modern day vehicles, this place is exactly the way it was over 100 years ago and it’s the most haunted place in Nevada. Some ghost towns are quite as accessible on google maps, and this is one of the more detailed ones we were able to find. Ignore the motorcycles and get a good feel for how historic site would have looked, when miners were sifting the the hills in search of gold. Drop into the Silver Terrace cemetery for a creepy flash from the past!
Enslavement of America
NDAA - On New Years Eve, 2011 (When nobody was paying attention), Nazi Obama passed the NDAA (Nation Defense Authorization Act), a cute little name for the admission of our own military to enact on American soil to detain and/or KILL American citizens, WITHOUT A TRIAL OR REASON!!! This is incredibly unconstitutional, and the very definition of Hitler himself.
When I see arrogant people actually cheering for Obama, I'm royally disgusting at their lack of knowledge and complete arrogance.

TAYLOR RIVER
The Taylor River originates high-up in the Elk Mountains just outside of the Maroon Bells Wilderness and flows along the west side of the Collegiate peaks before entering Taylor Park Reservoir. Taylor Park Dam, located at the south end of the reservoir, serves as the start of the tailwaters. The stretch immediately below the dam contains some of the largest rainbow trout at the statewide level with phenomenal fishing continuing all the way to the confluence of the Gunnison River and beyond. According to the owner, the approximate three-quarter mile stretch of the Taylor flowing through the resort has received a 16x Gold Medal rating from the State of Colorado. This portion of the river is also fed by the Spring Creek and Beaver Creek tributaries that flow down from the mountains to the north and south of the resort. Whitewater rafting and kayaking are also popular activities on the Taylor River. The 2,040-acre Taylor Park Reservoir just to the north offers the lake angler the chance of catching big Lake/Mackinaw, Brown, Rainbow and Cutbow Trout along with Kokanee Salmon and Northern Pike (Colorado Lake Trout record had been held by Taylor Park until 2007).
