LAKE ABANT (Bolu, Turkey)
The Abant Lake Natural Park is located within the borders of Bolu Province Central District in Karadeniz (Blacksea) Region.
The place can be reached by following the Ankara - Istanbul E - 5 State Highway, and than taking the 22 km road at the turn of Ömerler Madensuyu which is at the 203rd km of the E- 5 Highway. The park is 33 km from Bolu, 225 km from Ankara, and 225 km from Istanbul.
The Lake, which is a tectonic structure, shelters a variety of plants in itself and has a great open air recreation potentiality. As a result of these characteristics of the lake, 1150 hectares of the area were given the status of Natural Park in 1988.
The period between May and September is the best times for visiting the park. Some hotels are present in the park. The daily visitors can take walks around the lake or make picnics.
The main plant species in the park are; Scotch Pine, beech tree, larch tree, oak tree, poplar tree, ash tree, horn - beam tree, willow tree, juniper tree, forest rose, tamarisk, hazelnut tree, medlar tree, priest hat, azarole, holly, dog - rose, bracken, blackberry, strawberry, mint, raspberry, ivy, nettle, mare's tail, and a variety of pasture grasses and trees. The main animal species in the park are; pig, deer, roe deer, bear, fox, jackal, rabbit, some birds of prey and singing birds. The endemic species Abantalası in the lake forms the fauna.

Another popular and relaxing resort is Lake Abant Nature Park which is set in lovely alpine surroundings at an altitude of 1500 meters, 34 km southwest of the city centre. Offering many opportunities for visitors to enjoy a perfect day in nature, Lake Abant is charming in all seasons. Picnicking, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and cycling are some of the outdoor recreation activities. A walk around the lake is a great chance for capturing beautiful moments especially in winter when the surrounding pine forests are covered with a snow blanket and the lake is frozen. The summer months are the ideal time to explore the endemic species of the park area while the spring time heralds the blossoming of the yellow and white lotus flowers on the lake.
The breathtakingly beautiful Yedigöller (Seven Lakes) National Park is one of the gifts of nature to Bolu. Lying 42 km north of the city centre, the Park is named after seven large and small lakes formed by landslides. The lakes and the surrounding green area is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Nature lovers can enjoy the tranquillity of the view of the monumental trees, bubbling waterfalls, hiking trails and picnic areas. The mesmerizing beauty of its nature and the rich flora and fauna makes the park a heaven for photography lovers.

Lake Abant (Turkish: Abant Gölü) is a freshwater lake in Turkey's Bolu Province in northwest Anatolia, formed as a result of a great landslide. The lake lies at an altitude of 1,328 m (4,357 ft) at a distance of 32 km (20 mi) from the provincial seat of Bolu city. It is a favorite vacation and excursion spot for both Turkish and foreign travellers thanks to the natural beauty of its surroundings, which are covered with dense forests, and easy access by car (it is served by a 21 km (13 mi) road leaving from the İstanbul-Ankara motorway or the highway D-100 at the level of Mount Bolu, three hours' drive from these two largest cities of Turkey). Lake Abant is a natural park.

Kartalkaya ski resort, with the total area of 70 kilometers (43 miles) and 25 different tracks, lies at Koroglu Mountains in northern Black Sea region of Bolu province.
The resort -- which is located at around 45 kilometers (28 miles) from the city center of Bolu, 186 kilometers (115 miles) from the capital Ankara and 263 kilometers (163 miles) from Istanbul -- is in the summit of Koroglu Mountains, with an elevation of 2,200 meters (7,218 feet).In addition, tourists can participate in the evening entertainment provided by the hotels.
Holiday-goers who enjoyed skiing during the day can also relax and end their day in a spa as there are 30 thermal springs in the Bolu province’s Seben, Goynuk, Mudurnu, Karacasu and Taskesti districts, and the heat of the spring water is between 20 centigrade (68 Fahrenheit) and 90 centigrade degree (194 F).
The thermal facilities of the city, which has a total capacity of 5,300 beds, serve for those who want to stay or want to spend the day in the spa.

تعد بحيرة گولجك من أجمل البحيرات الطبيعية في العالم، توجد في محافظة بولو (Bolu) الواقعة شمال غرب الأناضول وتبعد عن إسطنبول مسافة 280 كم تقريبا. يبلغ ارتفاعها حوالي ألف وثلاثمئة وثمانية وعشرين متر وتبعد مسافة اثنين وثلاثين كيلومتر عن مركز محافظة بولو. تُغطي البحيرة مساحة 1.28 كيلومتر مربع ويصل عمق أعمق بقعة فيها إلى ثمانية عشر متر، وتعد المكان المفضل والمنتزه المحبب لقضاء عطل نهاية الأسبوع بالنسبة للأتراك والسياح الأجانب على حد سواء لما تتمتع به طبيعتها المتكاملة من سحر وجمال وقمة في الروعة، حيث توجد فيها أشجار الفراولة والصنوبر والسنديان والبندق والصفصاف، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة من الحيوانات كالغزلان والأرانب وغيرها الكثير لتكون المنطقة أشبه بمحمية طبيعية وفرصة رائعة للاسترخاء والهدوء.
