Florida Camping at Lake Monroe Park | Fulltime Travel
The second campground that we stayed at while camping in Florida was Lake Monroe Park in Volusia County, Florida. Sorry, I know I said Seminole County in the video! We called it Mosquito Lagoon because at night we kept getting attacked by the Mosquitos. The AT&T service was good enough for me to work so we hung out for a week and then came back for another couple days while we were waiting to go into another park as a filler. Enjoy our video!

Hi, we are Melisa and Ross and along with our kids, we started a whole new journey after purchasing our #Airstream in September of 2017! We knew that it was going to be a long process, but in the end, it will be such a blessing! We are giving it all to God to create a new path like no other. We wanted to record the entire renovation process, along the way I decided to FINALLY start putting together our pictures and videos to create a journal of our #airstream renovation and our #everydayjourney as a #fulltimefamily. This is us in 3 minutes and 40 seconds:
You can check out our day-to-day randomness on Instagram. Leave comments and questions about the renovation or anything else! We’d love to answer and help as we have been reading and watching video from those that came before us!

We stayed at Lake Monroe Campground in DeBary, Florida. When the Florida State Park campgrounds were full, we went to Campendium and found this gem! We really loved the trail which connects it to Gemini Springs and Green Springs! And the Lake is HUGE! We did a campground review while there.

Lake Monroe Wayside Park Boat Ramp Flooding (July 2018), Seminole Country, FL
Seminole, Fla.(July 16, 2018 18:30 p.m.) This is a short news piece covering the flooding of Lake Monroe Wayside Park Boat Ramp in Seminole County, Florida.
The boat ramp had been flooded for several weeks at the time this piece was produced. It shows the current flood levels at the time, and remarkably how little the water dissipated since the flooding.
The flooding resulted from steady rains in the area. Afterward, officials barricaded-off the boat ramp to prevent use of the boat ramp in its hazardous flooded condition.
The water levels of Lake Monroe rose enough to cover the boat ramp's fixed pier platforms. The three floating platforms at the end of each of the three piers, were lifted well above their normal height.
Aerial footage of the flooded boat ramp is shown in the report revealing the extent of the flooding of the boat ramp and surrounding areas.
Archival footage of the boat ramp is shown, demonstrating the use of the boat ramp prior to the flooding.
Overall, the Lake Monroe Wayside Park Boat ramp flooding completely shut down the boat ramp for months until the water level returned to normal. Though the park was still open to the public, where fishing and land-side visits were possible, the boat ramp was kept off limits for use.

Green Springs Park covers 36 acres of pristine nature and has one of Florida’s few green sulfur springs.

History
Green Springs has been an important landmark throughout the history of Volusia County from the time of early Native American settlements to the steamboat era when Enterprise was the final destination on the St. Johns River. Native Americans, including the Mayaca and Seminoles, considered the land sacred because they thought the sulfur water in the springs was healing.
In 1841, Cornelius Taylor built a hotel on top of a once-massive shell mound at the end of the spring run where it enters Lake Monroe. The spring was the main attraction of Taylor’s “hotel for invalids” on the lakefront – one of Florida’s first health spas. The hotel attracted tourists in the mid-1800s who wanted to enjoy the St. Johns River and recuperate from various illnesses.
By 1883, Green Springs was part of the large estate of wine importer and steamboat baron Frederick deBary, who used it to entertain guests from DeBary Hall. Well into the 20th century, the site still attracted tourists who were struck by what one observer called the spring’s “delicate green waters.”
Swimming and fishing
Swimming and fishing are not permitted.
Nature trails
Green Springs Park offers nature trails and scenic overlooks. This park is also a trailhead to both the Spring-to-Spring Trail and the East Central Regional Rail Trail. The East Central Regional Rail Trail begins at Green Springs and travels 5.7 miles to State Road 415 in Osteen. More segments of this trail are in the works.
