Helton Creek Falls | Dahlonega, Ga
Helton Creek Falls located near Blairsville and Dahlonega, GA. It's a great morning hike if you are nearby. The gravel road was in good-great condition and we were able to make it in the Nissan Altima. Take your time and go slowly over the road ripples.
This place would be great during the summer.

Diamond and gemstone hunting at Desoto falls, prospecting in Dahlonega Georgia - Lumpkin county
DeSoto FallsThe DeSoto Falls are located in Lumpkin County in the Chattahoochee National Forest DeSoto Falls Scenic Area. According to legend Spanish armor belonging to the Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto or one of his men was found near here which led many to believe that the expedition passed through this region in 1540 in their attempt to find gold.
Once in Dahlonega head north on GA9 / Morrison Moore Parkway for 13 miles. Turn left onto US-129 for 4 miles. The trails will be on the left.

Frogtown Cellars - Dahlonega GA
#frogtowncellars #georgiavineyards #georgiawine There are a number of vineyards throughout Georgia. Several have been a staple for the area and Frogtown Cellars is one of these. Entering this well established winemaker, you are struck by the beauty of both the vast vineyards as well as its amazing tasting room and restaurant. You can't help but notice the mature vineyards as they stretch throughout the rolling hills with the mountain peaks in the distance. You just walk outside in one of those wow moments. Then you step inside the tasting room and just stop. The two-story post and beam structure is just something to behold.
But, we came to taste wine. And Frogtown Cellars has great wine. I'll admit, I was a bit of wine snob for a while, thinking the only wine one should drink should be made from a single grape variety. I was wrong. First visiting Serenity Vineyards another North Georgia wine maker who makes great Italian bends, I realized there's another whole world to wine. Frogtown too is a winemaker who has taken the blending of wines to an art from. My favorite from the day was their 404 5th Reload, a delicious red blend.
One last point about wine tasting and specifically Frogtown Cellars. It should be fun. You want to feel welcome. And equally important, you want to be served by someone who has knowledge about their wines. Frogtown hit all three. Todd made our tasting such an enjoyable experience and shared an abundance about the wine and vineyard.
So treat both your eyes and your taste buds to Frogtown Cellars. Another great North Georgia Vineyard you'll want to add to your travel destinations.

Tiger Creek Trout Fishing in the Rain with Vanessa
Finally after a few failed attempts, Vanessa and I caught some fish together!!! Prior to this trip, we had fished at Bear River Reservoir, Tiger Creek Reservoir, and had also fished the California Delta together...all with no luck!! Determined to break the skunk, we set out to Tiger Creek again on December 23rd, 2019. The forecast was partly cloudy, but as you see, we got rained on!! Shortly into our trip, we hooked into a nice little rainbow trout who couldn't resist a juicy nightcrawler!! As the rain poured down, I hooked into a nice sized brown trout to end the day!! All in all, I enjoy every single moment we spend together fishing, but it definitely is more fun when we catch fish together!!

Ride Log | Feb 8, 2015 | FJR1300 | Suches, GA
I planned to head up to Wolf Pen Gap Store at the junction of SR60 and SR180 up to around 3000ft in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The debate was whether to slab it up on 400N or take the meandering Hwy9 through Dawsonville and joining up with SR60. I was in no hurry so meandering Hwy9 won.
Traffic was a fair amount. Being a nice day after a run of gray cold days, many folks were out and about, more so on the trails and walkways. Leading to Dawsonville and then up to Dahlonega, Hwy9 is a good ride. A ton of left right turns, some long sweeping turns. I had decided to stop at Lake Zwerner for a short break just before hitting the ride up to Suches. The small parking space was packed and I barely found a place to park the Feej. Right next to a shiny chromed Vulcan900. Good looking bike, no doubt. But a Feej it is not! The owner of the bike was out of Canton, GA and bought the Vulcan a few weeks ago. Some repo deal came his way. The break in the weather also got him to ride the SR60, dropping into Blue Ridge and down to Canton. We got talking about the Feej and he seemed disappointed at his choice for the Vulcan towards the end of that conversation! But then it could be my very one sided bias in favor of the FJR, which gave me that impression! I had meant to take a couple of pictures with the bikes and the rider. His phone intruded and soon after he decided to jump on the Vulcan and shoot off with a quick ‘Bye, see you around’. If anything, the Vulcan announced that it was in the vicinity! Loud pipes saves lives and all that….
