Well it was my birthday and time to celebrate. But where? What about that nice little restaurant I went to a couple of weeks ago? The food is good, and the prices modest. And I love al fresco dining. Perfect. So off we go.
Only one small problem - the rain was pissing down. And then the wind started to blow. The rain was sweeping in - in fact a small flood of water swept under the table. No problem, the waiter gave me a foot stool - so I put my feet up and kept eating! (NOTHING was going to get in the way of eating my boeuf bourguignon).
And after 20 minutes of deluge the flimsy thatched roof started to buckle under the weight of water. Leaks appeared and soon my pungent red wine sauce was being seriously diluted by a flurry of rather large rain drops. That said this intrepid gourmand finished the meal (in record time), then moved to a drier area, waiting for the chocolate mousse to arrive. Ahh, the laptop lifestyle - always an adventure.
