The Leipzig Music Trail
The Leipzig Music Trail connects 23 locations where eminent composers lived or worked, including the Gewandhaus, St. Thomas Church and Mendelssohn House. The project is supported by the Leipzig Music Trail Association and the city of Leipzig and has been submitted to the UNESCO for consideration as a World Heritage Site.
The film opens a window to the city's musical past by illuminating selected stations of the Music Trail. Leading figures describe the Trail and its significance, while the town of Leipzig shows its enthusiasm for classical music.
The film was made by Johannes Ackner and Hein-Godehart Petschulat for BUCHFUNK publishers, who wrote and produced the 58 short audio plays that can be heard along the Music Trail.
To make Leipzig's rich music heritage visible and tangible is the aim of Leipzig's Music Trail Initiative. Therefore a music and guidance system opened on 12 May 2012: Leipziger Notenspur, a 5.1 km long walking trail, will then connect the most significant historic sites in the city centre, marked by curved stainless steel elements which are embedded in the ground. Another walking trail (Leipziger Notenbogen) and a cycle trail (Leipziger Notenrad) are being planned, too. notenspur-leipzig.de

Leipzig - City of Music
