Etna Tour | Sicily
Me and two of my mates had the opportunity to visit Mount Etna on Thursday 22nd December with a tour. After Etna, our tour guide took us to an interesting cave just 5 minutes away and finished with a completed lunch! We had so much fun and with the amount of videos I shot, I ended up editing this video as a memory of this lovely trip to Catania.

Catania, Toarmina, Marzememi, Siracuse Sicily Vlog 2017
CATANIA, SICILY
DATES TRAVELED: 15TH FEB 2017 - 18TH FEB 2017
WEATHER: VERY SUNNY- 17-18°C IN TEMPERATURE
Our tour started from Catania. We rented a car from the airport and drove to a few places. We didn't have a long stay here so wanted to make the most of it.
DAY 1..Arrived at our hotel Miro B&B. Spent the evening in the Catania area.
DAY 2.. Drove to Mount Etna 30-40 min by car from Catania. Got to try some specialties from around this area pistachio nuts and honey. The honey known as 'Gold Etna' is amazing and comes in a variety of flavours such as lemon, strawberry and hazelnut. We then got a cable cart this cost us 30 euros each and just went half way. After this we drove to Toarmina which was about 1-2 hrs. drive from Mount Etna. Places we visited here were Castle Mola and Theatre Greco.
DAY 3..On the third day we drove to a fishing village called Marzamemi which is the southern most point of Sicily. It was originally called Mars? al-hammam by the Arabs in the 10th century. After a short visit here we drove to Siracuse. In this town we visited Castle Maniace, Cathedral in Duomo di Siracuse and Tempo di Apollo. Whist here we got try the local delicacies Pasta Alla Norma which is the most iconic dish. You will find that most of the foods have an influence of Greek, Spanish, French and Arab origin.
DAY 4..Our last and final day in Catania. In the morning we headed straight to Orta Botanica, a garden growing a wide variety of cactuses'. The place itself was ok, we only went there for something to do. we then went to the main plaza Piazza Duomo which also has a shopping district next to it. So we managed to garb some last minutes souvenirs before making our way to the airport.

SICILY STREET FOOD | BEST STREET FOOD TOUR in PALERMO, SICILY
We're in Palermo, Sicily! In this 3 part series we're hunting down the best Sicilian food and Sicilian street food. Palermo has a thriving street food culture that's big on offal and punchy, bold flavours.
This is our second video from Palermo and it's all about Sicilian street food! We start the day with one of Palermo's most popular street foods pani ca meusa or spleen sandwich. A sesame covered roll is stuffed with chopped spleens and lungs of veal and if you want ricotta or caciocavallo cheese.
Next up we sample a sandwich stuffed with pane e panella and crocche- chickpea fritters and potato croquettes- reflective of Palermo's diverse food culture which has been influenced by its historical invaders. Then it's onto one of Sicily's most delicious treats- gelato in brioche which is often eaten for breakfast!
We then head to a bakery outside the historic centre of Palermo to find sfincione- this region's version of pizza. The Sicilians have been baking sfincione since the mid 1800's and you'll see it all over town. However we highly recommend this bakery- the sfincione was out of this world! We end with stigghiola at Vucciria Market- lamb intestines cooked over the grill.

STREET FOOD in ITALY | SICILIAN street food in PALERMO, SICILY
We're in Palermo, Sicily! In this 3 part series we're exploring Palermo to hunt down the best Sicilian food. Palermo has a thriving street food culture that's big on offal and punchy, bold flavours.
This is our first video from Palermo and it's all about Sicilian street food and traditional Sicilian food! We start the day at one of Palermo's most popular local markets- Ballaro Market. Ballaro Market is packed with fresh produce, meat and seafood and has an abundance of ready to eat street foods to sample. Some of Palermo's most beloved street foods are here so we start with frittula. Frittula is a snack you won't find elsewhere in Italy it's made up of leftover scraps from a calf carcass that are boiled and then fried in lard. Next up it's time for some seafood- pulpo or octopus simply boiled and served with a squeeze of lemon and sardine rolled and stuffed with breadcrumbs, pine nuts, parsley and raisins. Before leaving the market we eat some snails- babalucci which are cooked in garlic and parsley. They're mouthwatering! We head for more food at one of our favourite trattoria's which is close to the market for some seafood pastas- swordfish and eggplant spaghetti for Thomas and cuttlefish and cuttlefish ink spaghetti for Sheena. Finally, we head to a famous local bakery to sample some Sicilian sweets for which the island is well known. #streetfooditaly #sicilianfood #sicilyfood

Bicycle journey around Sicily (Italy) Part 2
This is second part of bicycle journey around Sicilia.
First part:
That was wonderful journey on my bicycle around Sicilia. First days I was thinking that it would be worst trip in whole my life because of pouring rain. But in third day came sunny weather. I was riding and looking around. I was among mountains, rivers and see, among forests, fields and fruits gardens. Sometimes I climbed over a wall to take some oranges and lemon. I slept in tent, cooked on side of road and met a lot of good people! Thank you very much Sicilia !!
Thank you for everybody for your help!!!

Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Scenario: Lemon Hill
The last 15 minutes or so of a single player mission I played the other week. I played as the Italian forces in Sicily moving towards Allied forces in Gela. Italian TO&E is quite different to play than any of the other factions in the Combat Mission series. They are perhaps the weakest and most difficult force due to poor equipment for the troops and the lack of good command and control. That makes for some nail-biting moments when trying to push your troops into combat.
Things to do in Sicily, Italy
In this travel video we couldn't be featuring a better destination that Sicily, Italy. The food, culture, and people, pretty much everything aside from the unbearable heat, were exactly what we were looking for.
We started in Syracuse with the most incredible panino (Italian sandwich) we had ever laid eyes upon. Caseificio Borderi is the name of the little shop with the large line, and it may very well serve the best panino in Sicily!
Next up was Palermo for a taste of a traditional cannolo made with sweetened sheep's milk ricotta cheese and a trip to the Capo market where we spotted a frittola (mystery meat) stand, but didn't have the courage to partake. Instead we headed straight for the fresh fish stands and procured some ingredients for a late-night feast.
After all the time we spent in the busy streets of Palermo we definitely need to relax, so we checked out the island of Favignana. On a couple of beat-up bikes we found a quick wine lesson, a dip in the ocean, and a delicious lemon and ice beverage called granita limone. Afterwards, we took the ferry back to the mainland of Trapani for one of the most gargantuan and delicious pizzas we've had to fortune to taste.
Finally, our trip to Sicily came to an end back in Syracuse with an Italian language puppet show and a dramatic trek up Mount Etna.
We love all of Italy, but Sicily was a particularly memorable experience for us.
We hope you enjoy our video. Please like and subscribe to follow along with our further adventures. Hopefully we can help you figure out where YOU would like to go next!
Save up. Pack up. Get out and explore!
We're Heather and Matt and we love to travel. We won't be giving you a history lesson or jumping off a cliff while a drone captures the footage, instead we'll try to share with you the experiences we have as we try to avoid tourist traps and make our own adventure.
We shoot our videos with a Canon Rebel t5i and a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens.
