Legazpi City Albay - Hiking in Ligñon Hill Nature Park | Ziggy Travel Bicol
The 156-meter high Ligñon Hill Nature Park is one of Legazpi City's most famous landmarks. For years, Ligñon Hill is known only for the PHIVOLCS observatory located in its flanks and an old lighthouse on its summit.
Today, it has become one of the city’s prime destinations for sightseers, adventurers and even fitness buffs.
The new Ligñon Hill Nature Park offers sights and activities for all types of visitors.
Ligñon Hill is known as the city’s proctector. It lies in the middle of Mayon Volcano and the city where approximately 183,000 people reside. During the times of the volcano’s eruption and heavy rains, Lignon Hills has blocked the flow of lava and lahar protecting the city from unimaginable destruction.
Entrance fee is 25 pesos in the main gate and with just a few minute drive, you are already on top of the hill. Above, they have in the center souvenir stores where you can buy handicrafts, keychains, bags and ref magnets. Activities here include sight seeing, zip lining, hanging bridge crossing, and relaxing.
Once you get to Albay or Bicol Region, seeing the beauty of Mayon is a must. And once you’ve witnessed it, you’ll surely want some more.
How to Get to Ligñon Hill Nature Park
Once you’re in Legazpi, ride the Legazpi-Daraga loop 1 jeepney to take you directly at the foot of the hill.
From Daraga: Take a tricycle from to Tagas and ask the drive to drop you off at the tennis court. It’s just a quick hike to the Lignon Hill.

Lignon Hill Nature Park Another prominent Tourist attraction in Legazpi, Albay, Philippines Located behind the Legazpi Airport with its Elevated lookout & recreational park featuring views of the Mayon Volcano in addition to this is a cave resided by the Japanese Imperial Army during the World War II and used as an arsenal with around 40 meters long and 7-8 deep.
