Lily Pad Lake, Silverthorne, Colorado
2.5 miles round trip hike taken in August 2013
Conquering Colorado Lily Pad lake
Some friends and I went on a nice hike to Lily Pad lake in Silverthorne, Co. Enjoy!!
A fantastic hike for both young and old, Lily pad truly offers something for everyone. Keep on the lookout for beaver ponds and wildlife!
Directions: Exit I-70 at exit 205 and take Colorado 9 north (about a block) to the traffic light at Wendy's. Turn left onto Wildernest Rd., just in front of the 7-11, and continue 3.5 miles to the final loop at the end of the road. (Wildernest Rd. turns into Ryan Gulch Road)
At the top of the loop you will see a parking area on your left. A dirt road across from the parking area leads up the hill to the trailhead. The trail of 1.6 miles leads to two lakes - Lower Lily Pad Lake and Upper Lily Pad Lake.
This is a great nature walk for hikers of all ages and a perfect place to introduce youngsters to the beaver ponds that dot the area and the numerous yellow pond lilies that cover Lower Lily Pad by mid-summer.
The trail is a well marked path of gentle ups and downs that can be marshy in spots so some mosquito repellant is a good idea if you make the trek during the warmer season. Be on the lookout for wildlife that abounds - elk and moose have been spotted from this trail in recent years so keep the kids close!
You follow in the footsteps of early 19th century fur trappers as you proceed through the aspen and pine forests so the ghosts of Summit County may also be encountered in this historic place A fun hike for the whole family!

Keystone Gulch Road climbs gradually along a lively stream near the base of Keystone Mountain. This route offers other trail options farther up the drainage, including a challenging climb to North Peak and a loop combining abandoned logging roads and the West Ridge section of the Colorado Trail. Colorado Cycling Keystone to Dillon Bike Path
Colorado Cycling Keystone to Dillon Bike Path -
This is one of my favorite stretches of the Summit County Rec Path.
This paved bike and hike path stretches from Breckenridge to Keystone, Copper Mountain, Frisco, Dillon, and Vail. I'm still new to exploring it and have not seen all of the paths yet.
One of the many great things about Summit County, and specifically Breckenridge is that the public transit and bike paths are so wonderful that a car is absolutely unnecessary here.
I have been injured and unable to get too adventurous since February, 2015. I hope to start on some single-track in the next month or two. First I have to focus on just learning to walk again though.
There are plenty of hardcore bicycling activities in Summit County, from downhill mountain biking that is supported by ski lifts and gondolas to skate parks and dirt jump tracks.
Make sure to visit our youtube channel and website often for more amazing mountain videos!

Frisco Peninsula Trail System, Frisco CO
For many Summit County residents the peninsula trail system is the first place to go when the snow melts in the spring. Typically the first to thaw out, it’s a great place to warm up for the season, get used to the altitude or just enjoy a trail quick trail ride next to Lake Dillon at any time during the summer. The network includes a number of short interconnected trails, so get out there and explore. Find more bike trails at
