Limekiln State Park: Historic Kilns & a Waterfall in Big Sur
Limekiln State Park is one of my favorites in the Big Sur area. This park has shaded trails with large redwoods that lead to a waterfall and a historic kiln. It's a great spot to camp or to explore for a few hours.

Easy hike in Limekiln State Park Big Sur California
Decided to visit this state park which was named because Limestone were harvested in this region and were fed into these huge kilns to heat the stone up to use for building materials. The hiking trails around Limekiln state park is easy and at the end of the trail you can see the huge heating kilns they used for the limestone. Nearby is the Limekiln falls. There's also some nice campgrounds at the trailhead and under the bridge facing the ocean. All footage are recorded with an iPhone 5.

Beautiful Trail Hiking: Big Sur State Park (Unreal Views!)
Weekend trip through Big Sur Andrew Molera and Limekiln State Park on 8/3/18 - 8/5/18. Crazy beautiful Highway 1 in California does not disappoint with views around every corner. Hiked Mcway falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park Cruikshank trail near Limekiln (one of the best unknown hikes ive ever done) and Bluff trail near Big Sur. A place I am hopeful to return to and camp at some point.

Highway 1 driving to Limekiln State Park-Vic´s Cali 2010 Tour Day 12
Vic´s Cali 2010 Tour Day 12
And we continue our beautiful journey on Highway 1 going South along the Pacific Coast to reach Limekiln State Park.
There were parts on the highway with road construction due to rock slides so occasionally I had to stop for one lane sections of the highway.
Nevertheless the driving was still pure fun as the weather continued to be very nice and warm.

Big Sur: 8 Things to do on a Highway 1 Road Trip
Big Sur is one of the most amazing places in California and one of the most spectacular coastlines in the United States. I always love getting the chance to explore it and with summer right around the corner, I figured people would be planning their own Big Sur road trip and so I wanted to share a few of my favorite spots.

Big sur california | things to do in big sur
Here are 3 places to stop along the Pacific Coast Highway in Big Sur, California.
Big Sur is a rugged stretch of California’s central coast between Carmel and San Simeon. Bordered to the east by the Santa Lucia Mountains and the west by the Pacific Ocean, it’s traversed by narrow, 2-lane State Route 1, known for winding turns, seaside cliffs and views of the often-misty coastline. The sparsely populated region has numerous state parks for hiking, camping and beachcombing.
Big Sur is a beautiful area and Highway 1 offers many breathtaking stops. Here are my favorite! Hopefully they help you pick a few great stops for your next California road trip!
1. Bixby Bridge
2. Nepenthe
3. Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park

Andrew Molera St Park, Camping & Hiking, Big Sur, California
A trip to Andrew Molera state park in Big Sur, California. Enjoy a hike into the overnight campground and then take the 8 mile (7.76 mi) hike up the ridge and a great view of the ocean and inland valley. Take the River Trail out of the parking lot, up the Hidden Trail, follow the Ridge trail to the peak and then follow the Bluffs Trail back to the beach and parking lot. Enjoy a stay at the hike in campground with firepits, tables and facilities (though no showers, but hey, its 'camping').
The state park sits approximately 26 miles south of Monterey, California, USA, though allow at least an hour to drive down the 2 lane highway, and enjoy a stop in Carmel by the Sea as a nice side trip.
If you plan to camp, try and arrive early in the day as the walk in camp sites are limited and closely monitored, but well worth the planning if you like a simple hike in campground away from the crowds. Wood is available for purchase from the gate agent. A tent is recommended due to the ocean moisture. Make sure to use the food cabinets as the squirrels are very aggressive and will climb on your picnic table to eat anything left out, even your tent is not safe for food storage.
A hike through Andrew Molera is a nice trip off the main beaten path, enjoy it!
