Mirror Lake Trail - Mount Hood National Forest, Government Camp, OR - (May 2019)
The string of great weather in the PNW continues so we headed up to the mountain and completed the very popular Mirror Lake Trail. The hike from the trailhead to the lake is about 2 miles with the extended hike to the top of Tom, Dick & Harry Mountain being another 1.5 miles.
If you plan to do the full hike, get to the trailhead early as it is a very busy trail. If you want to complete the full hike, wait until the temperature warms up in the summer as the melting snow in the spring can make this much more challenging.

Trillium Lake
Trillium Lake is a favorite family camping spot near Government Camp on Mt. Hood. It's a great place for kayaking, picnicking, or fishing.
We like it here. You might too.

Mazama Campground ~ Crater Lake National Park ~ Be Prepared!
This was probably my fault... as that afternoon while looking from the rim at Crater Lake down into the bluest water I had ever seen, I said something dumb along the lines of wouldn't this place be pretty in the snow? Hmmmmmmmmm Mazama Campground can surprise you with weather! Be prepared :)

Finding Oregon is the compilation of six months of timelapse photography across the state of Oregon, punctuated by a 1600 mile road trip in September. We've filmed the Columbia River Gorge, Mt Hood, Mt Jefferson, the Southwestern Coast, the Alvord Desert, Leslie Gulch, Blue Mountains, Crater Lake, Eagle Cap Wilderness, Deschutes River, and more. We're proud to have touched all four corners of the state; however Oregon is the kind of place that the more you see, the more places there are to still discover.
The greatest challenge with this project was being in the right place at the right time. Night timelapse sequences particularly have an unexpected number of requirements to get the bright, stunning payoff. First, the moon should be around the New Moon phase (no moon) so as not to compete with outshining the stars, so that means we get about 5 days a month window. Next, weather must be cooperative with a dependable expectancy of cloudless skies. Here in Oregon, only the Summer months have good chance of clear skies, so only 1/4 of the year offers good chance of clear skies. So that means, we have three months in the year, with a 5 day window each month to plan with fingers crossed for epic star shooting conditions. That's only 15 days in a year. Then, you hope that something doesn't come up in regular life to pull you away to other obligations on those few days. It is a maddening challenge getting all the factors to line up to be in the right place at the right time. But, when it does happen- it is such a satisfying feeling!

Bailey Cove and Trail | My Favorite Place | Shasta Lake | Lakehead, California
This is my favorite place in this world...
Bailey Cove Campground and the (3 mile) Bailey Cove Trail on the McCloud River arm of Shasta Lake. It is located in the area known as Grey Rocks.
Located near Redding, in Lakehead, California.
In the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
We stumbled across this place when trying to visit the Shasta Caverns, they were closed. Thank goodness!
Includes a picnic area, boat ramp launch, beach, Bailey Cove and Trailhead. Bailey Cove Trail is a 3 mile hiking (or mountain biking) trail that hugs the shoreline with incredible scenary.
Great place for camping, fishing, hiking, kayaking, water sports. This place has a little bit of everything.
Be sure to bring your bugspray for the trails!
Each site has a tent pad, picnic table, raised fire ring, bear boxes, and they have restrooms on site as well.
If I was a place, this would be it.
Lake Shasta attracts anglers due to its wide variety of fish! Great place for fishing!
Abundant wildlife. Everything from lizards to osprey nests can be found in this area.
Checkout the nearby Hirz Mountain Lookout to see some of the best views of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lasson!

Badger Lake Road Off-Road Trail - Mount Hood National Forest, Oregon
For the full trail guide please visit:
Badger Lake Road off-road trail snakes through a thin ribbon of forest flanked on either side by the Badger Creek Wilderness. After coming around the flank of Badger Butte, the trail narrows and plunges down a rocky shelf road toward the lake. Big views of the ridgeline where Bennett Pass Road traverses can be seen across the basin. The palisades in the distance are below Flag Point Lookout. Badger Lake, just after a shallow water crossing, is a wonderful spot to spend an afternoon canoeing, fishing, swimming, or hanging out enjoying the mountain air.

Crater Lake National Park
This video was entirely shot inside Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the U.S. and 7th deepest in the world at 1,943 feet!! It is also the clearest lake in the world. It is 5 miles across and there is no outlet (river, stream, etc.), just evaporation. It is absolutely gorgeous and there are a lot of good hikes all around the lake to waterfalls and springs coming right out of the ground and through the snow.Unfortunately the road to get down to the water was closed due to snow despite the fact that I was there in June! I did not get to use my underwater housing :( Check it out! All the information can be found here:
The music was selected and licensed from JewelBeat which is a great website for youtubers who want to partner-up and have all the rights to their content. And it's affordable!
All shots were taken with a Sony Alpha57 and Sony f2.8 16-50mm and 75-300mm lenses. I used a combination of tripod and Glidecam HD-4000. Here are links to all of the product sites:
I shot at 24fps and sometimes 60fps to conform to 24fps later in post for better slow motion. I use Adobe Premiere and Final Cut, this film was edited in Final Cut ProX. It was very difficult to narrow HOURS of footage down to FOUR minutes! That is by far the toughest part of these videos.
I love hiking, nature, and filmmaking, I shoot commercials and music videos as well. Don't hesitate to contact me to collaborate. Please like, share, and comment on where you would like to see a video made or if you would like to make one together!
Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe, there will be a new location at least once a month and behind the scenes. I am also just getting started on Facebook and Twitter. Get at me!
I am looking for someone to compose original music for my upcoming projects, please contact me if you would like to work together!

Oregon Supreme Court - Youth Climate Case: Chernaik v Brown
Crag Law Center filed the case on behalf of Kelsey Juliana and Ollie Chernaik in 201. Kelsey, now age 23, and Ollie, now age 18, brought the case to correct violations of their legal rights and to prevent the irreversible catastrophes facing the state and their futures if climate disruption is not stopped.
After an initial win from the Court of Appeals in 2014, in January the Court of Appeals issued a disappointing decision that would allow the state to sit back and allow the waters, wildlife, and other natural resources of the state to waste away in the face of climate change impacts.
The youth plaintiffs asked the Supreme Court to review, and ultimately reverse, the Court of Appeals decision. Multnomah County, 69 law professors, and over 50 individuals and organizations representing a wide variety of interests, including government, communities of color, public health, youth, faith, business, conservation, and education, filed amicus briefs supporting the youth.
Mirror Lake & Mt Hood Scenic Forest
As we began our accent up Mt Hood on the ski lift, we froze as we swung perilously over sharp rocks and blunt boulders six stories below our dangling feet, no soft comforting snow beneath us, just bare rock waiting for us. We could hardly move, dared not. Annie gave me a look and a sound escaped her lips like Nancy Kerrigan, WHY, WHY?! But it was OMG. After finally getting to the top and crawling out of the lift, we decided to walk down. Then it was on to beautiful Mirror Lake just below Mt Hood in Oregon. This video has great background music and wait until you see Mirror Lake. The Sandy River is also featured.
Exploring Lakes in Clackamas County
Large and small, easy to find and off the beaten path. This video highlights some of the beautiful lakes open for recreation in Clackamas County.
