JAPAN | SHIZUOKA - DREAM SUSPENSION BRIDGE (夢の吊り橋) & STEAM TRAINS
Hi guys! Moira here ????
before everything else, click CC for English subtitles :)
I AM SO EXCITED TO SHOW YOU GUYS WHAT WE DID IN SHIZUOKA!
Our very first time to ride a steam train and went hiking to the
famous suspension bridge located in Shizuoka, Japan.
We rode a 40 minutes Shinkansen (bullet train) ride from Shin-Yokohama to Shizuoka and transferred to a local train to Kanaya then to Shin- Kanaya to ride a steam train going to Senzu.
From Senzu, we rode the cog train, THE ONLY cog train in Japan.
It was fun going away from the city noises and enjoying the calm and fresh breeze of nature.

Sharing a cup of Japanese tea with the world
Shizuoka Prefecture, which is Japan’s biggest tea producing region and accounts for around 40 percent of all the nation’s tea production, is seeing its tea market slowly die due to severe aging issues among tea farmers and a plunge in tea leave prices caused by wholesalers looking for cheap leaves to satisfy the demand of increasingly popular plastic-bottled tea.
Now, with almost no successors to take over their businesses, elderly tea farmers are abandoning their mountainside tea farms.
To raise awareness of such issues and introduce Shizuoka green tea to the World, Akito Ohashi, who grew up on a tea farm in Shizuoka, began a tea-experience business called “The Tea Bridge.”
Joined by his business partner Sandra from the U.S., Ohashi is attracting tea lovers from all over the world to Honyama City in Shizuoka, where they have the opportunity to experience life on a tea farm, visit a local tea factory.

Blackened Canteen Ceremony
This ceremony was hosted by the National Park Service, the Pacific Aviation Museum, and Dr. Hiroya Sugano, M.D. Dr. Hiroya Sugano, Director General of the Zero Fighter Admirers’ Club, came from Japan to conduct this annual commemoration of peace and reconciliation ceremony with a silent prayer and pouring of bourbon whiskey from a World War II-blackened canteen into the hallowed waters of Pearl Harbor as an offering to the spirits of the fallen. The blackened canteen is a recovered relic from a B-29 bomber that collided with another B-29 over the city of Shizuoka, Japan in 1945. Twenty-three American airmen were killed. The American dead were buried among the Japanese citizens of Shizuoka who were killed during the bombing raid.

Tokyo’s First Regular Night Market
We went down to the new Tokyo Night Market — created by the team behind the long-standing Farmer’s Market in Aoyama — to see what all the fuss is about, and it didn't disappoint. Filling a gap in Tokyo's evening scene, the Night Market houses a range of stalls selling homewares, clothing, art, crafts and more, plus international food trucks. Don't forget about the live art, friendly atmosphere and a rotating schedule of culinary events.

A TOKYO MINUTE - Temples and Shrines
A TOKYO MINUTE - Temples and Shrines
Showcasing local temples and shrines around Tokyo.
How to visit a temple/Shrine
At the purification fountain near the shrine's entrance, take one of the ladles provided, fill it with fresh water and rinse both hands. Then transfer some water into your cupped hand, rinse your mouth and spit the water beside the fountain. You are not supposed to transfer the water directly from the ladle into your mouth or swallow the water
Behave calmly and respectfully. Show your respect by making a short prayer in front of the sacred object. Do so by throwing a coin into the offering box, followed by a short prayer.
At some temples, visitors burn incense (osenko) in large incense burners. Purchase a bundle, light them, let them burn for a few seconds and then extinguish the flame by waving your hand rather than by blowing it out. Finally, put the incense into the incense burner and fan some smoke towards yourself as the smoke is believed to have healing power. For example, fan some smoke towards your shoulder if you have an injured shoulder.
When entering temple buildings, you may be required to take off your shoes. Leave your shoes on the shelves at the entrance or take them with you in plastic bags provided at some temples. Wear nice socks.

Guys, I've decided that I'm going to take a more direct and honest approach with you, my viewers. And part of that real talk has to do with something most Youtubers are not that willing to talk about - money.
The thing with Youtube ad-revenue is that it's a complete joke, and the only way smaller channels can earn an income worth the time spent making videos is with lots of low quality content, or sponsored content. I dont wanna play that game. I want to make the best videos possible for you, my viewers, but making good videos takes a ton of time, effort and money.
Thus, I started Patreon to help with the costs of producing these videos. There's a few of costs like: travelling around Tokyo, entrance fees and the cost of my time (hundreds of hours scripting, shooting, editing).
A lot of my fellow YouTuber friends are using Patreon so that their audience can support them directly. I would LOVE to make working on this channel my full-time job, so If you feel that my content is worth it then please have a look at my Patreon page and help me grow Tokyo Drew.
