Syracuse to Watkins Glen/Ithaca Bike Trip 2017
Video summary of my recent bike tour that brought me from Syracuse to Ithaca, to the stunning Watkins Glen and then back to Ithaca! Other places I visited include Skaneateles, Filmore Glen, Taughannock Falls and the Ithaca Farmers Market. Along the way I met many cool and interesting people with whom I shared stories; I ate new foods, enjoyed awesome music and saw the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Central New York, with all its stunning natural beauties. People who complain about New York State being an awful place to live should visit this region; after seeing it they may have to bite their tongue!
The first day, I rode approximately 50 miles from Syracuse to Filmore Glen, a relatively younger, smaller glen than Watkins, but still plenty beautiful in it's own right. It is located in the small town of Moravia. I stopped for lunch in Skaneateles and saw the absolutely gorgeous Skaneateles Lake I stayed at Filmore Glen that night, then hiked it's breathtaking trails the next morning. On the second day, after hiking Filmore, I rode from Moravia to Ithaca (a little over 20 miles). After spending a few hours in the beautiful, alternative community of Ithaca, I rode another 5 miles to my camping spot, the stunning Taughannock Falls State Park. Most of the 5 miles, I rode on the Black Diamond Trail, built on the old Black Diamond Railbed. This beautiful trail is very well maintained and mostly goes through forests. This made the last five miles of the day very enjoyable, since I was able to slow down and enjoy the scenery. The trail also connects directly to Taughannock Falls State Park, so I was able to turn right into the park without having to cross any major roadways. After setting up camp for the second night in a row, I built a fire and looked at the stars. For day 3, I visted Taughannock Point, the southern tip of the park which boasts a beautiful view of Cayuga Lake. After eating the Falls Diner in nearby Trumansburg, I continued to Watkins Glen, although I went way out of my way so that I could explore another Rail Trail along the way; The Catherine Valley Trail. This trail was also beautiful, travelling mostly downhill from Milport to the Village of Watkins Glen. After riding up the huge hill into the park and to my campsite, I dropped off my luggage, secured my bike and walked the down to the trails. Nothing could prepare me for the sheer beauty of Watkins Glen; the further down the trails I went the more beautiful the scenery. Everytime I thought that there was no way I could find anything more beautiful and perfect, a turn of a corner would prove me wrong. The glen has numerous cascading waterfalls, hanging gardens and caves, with stone steps and walkways seemlessy sculpted into the natural structures of the Glen. All of this is nestled deep in an ancient canyon, carved by hundreds of thousands of years of erosion. After exploring this amazing park, I settled into my campsite for the night building another fire, where I cooked soup and potatoes and chatted with other fellow travelers who were also staying the night at the sprawling camping area at Watkins Glen State Park. On the fourth and final day of the tour, I ate breakfast at a local diner, then rode back to Ithaca, where I visited the local farmers market where I met some cool people, tried some amazing food, all with a soundtrack provided by a very talented local band known as Immortal Jellyfish. I then headed to the nearby Stewart Park where I met my brother, and we drove back to Syracuse. All in all it was a wonderful trip that I thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait for my next adventure!

Bodycam Shows Officers Pleading With Armed Man Before Shooting
** (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) **
On Monday, July 1, 2019, at approximately 12:45 PM, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Athens Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) to investigate an officer involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates that 2 ACCPD officers responded to a scene after receiving a 911 call about a male, later identified as Aaron Hong, age 23, causing a disturbance with a butcher knife at the River Club Apartments on Macon Highway, Athens, GA. Hong was using the knife in an aggressive manner and appeared to be injured himself. When police made contact, Hong immediately confronted them and began to walk towards officers with the knife in hand.
During the incident, officers provided numerous verbal commands for Hong to drop the knife. Instead, Hong charged one of the officers with the knife and the officer fired his weapon multiple times, striking Hong. Hong managed to get back up and during the confrontation attempted to grab one of the officer’s weapons. The second officer fired at Hong multiple times, striking him. Nearby medics responded and Hong died at the scene. One officer sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Here's a video on how to do a three point turn, which is basically a U turn, but with an extra maneuver (or even more, depending on the width of the street). In this case I show only the three points, but if you have a longer car or if the street is narrower, you might have to repeat the steps of turning the wheel completely to the left, moving forward as much as you can, turning it to the right completely, backing up as much as you can and so on.
Note: While I try to make my videos as universal as possible, rules and laws may vary according to the place where you’re driving and might be different from the ones in this video. Always drive according to the laws and rules that apply to the place where you are driving. Requirements at the driving exam may also be different than the ones shown here. Always respect the requirements that apply to the place where you are passing your driving exam. This video is not meant to replace your official driving courses.

Step-By-Step Instructions To Pass 3 Point Turn :: K Turn :: Y Turn
A 3 point turn is a required slow speed manoeuvre for a road test. Watch the video to learn how. PASS YOUR ROAD TEST FIRST TIME CHECKLIST: SUBSCRIBE TODAY! ►
#3pointturn #smartdrivetest #passfirsttime
Most of a passenger vehicle road test is in a forward motion – approximately 7/8th of the test is in a forward motion, however, the 1/8 that is slow-speed manoeuvres gives new drivers the most challenge.
For the purpose of a road test, drivers are required to know how to do a 3 point turn. The step-by-step directions for a 3 point turn can be found here:
Most of the time, a driving examiner will take you a dead end street, or a thoroughfare with minimal traffic to complete this manoeuvre. As well, the street will be narrow and will preclude you from doing a ‘U’ turn.
It is important to go slow for this manoeuvre – no or little throttle is required. Often a driver will be required to apply the brake to control the speed of the vehicle.
Other key components of the 3 point turn are observation and communication. In other words, you must not move the vehicle until the way is clear in both directions, and you communicate to other traffic what you are doing on the roadway.
STEP-BY-STEP Instructions for 3 Point Turn
You are stopped at the right side of the road
• Select Drive
• Check the left mirror, signal to the left and check over the left shoulder
• Release the brake, don't give the vehicle any gas and steer all the way rapidly to the left
• As you go over the centre line begin to straighten out the wheels
• Stop near the curb
• Select reverse and activate your right signal
• Do a safety scan, check for traffic and look over your right shoulder - release the brake when the way is clear and steer rapidly to the right
• When your reach the centre of the road, look over your left shoulder, straighten out the wheel and stop the vehicle near the curb (you are looking over your left shoulder because the rear left tire is the first to the curb - the rear tires are just behind the back seat)
• Select drive, signal left, do a safety scan (left, centre, right) to ensure it is clear to pull out and drive away
- Look into your intended path
- Accelerate
- Steer the vehicle
Good luck on your road test!

Air Force vet pleads not guilty to federal terrorism charges
NEW YORK (AP) -- A U.S. Air Force veteran and former airplane mechanic charged with attempting to join the Islamic State group in Syria pleaded not guilty Wednesday to terrorism charges.A bearded Tairod Nathan Webster Pugh, wearing prison-issued khaki pants and a blue short-sleeved shirt, repeated his full name when asked but said nothing else before Judge Nicholas Garaufis in a New York federal courthouse. His attorney, Michael K. Schneider, entered the plea on his behalf. He declined to address reporters after the brief court appearance.Pugh, 47, of Neptune, New Jersey, was indicted Tuesday on charges of attempting to provide material support to a terrorist group and obstructing justice. He was stopped at a Turkish airport in January carrying a laptop containing information on Turkey-Syria border crossing points as well as 180 jihadist propaganda videos, including one featuring an Islamic State prisoner beheading, according to an indictment. In a letter addressed to a woman investigators believe is Pugh's Egyptian wife, Pugh declared: I will use the talents and skills given to me by Allah to establish and defend the Islamic States, according to court papers. There is only two possible outcomes for me, said the letter, which was recovered from his computer. Victory or martyr. The computer, as well as thumb drive data-storage devices and other recovered equipment, appeared to have been intentionally destroyed to deny investigators access, the indictment said.Garaufis scheduled a May 8 status conference to review prosecutors' evidence and discuss any possible plea negotiations. Schneider said in court he would need time for his own forensic expert to review the data seized by federal authorities and to coordinate interviews with potential witnesses in Turkey, Egypt and elsewhere.Pugh has been living overseas for the past year and a half, most recently in Egypt, the court papers show.Pugh served in the Air Force from 1986 to 1990 and was trained in installing and maintaining aircraft engines and navigation and weapons systems. The airman first class was first assigned in July 1987 to the Woodbridge Air Base in England and then to the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona in July 1989, the Air Force said. After leaving the air force, he worked as an avionics specialist and mechanic for companies in the Middle East and U.S.The FBI got a 2001 tip about Pugh from a co-worker at American Airlines who said Pugh expressed sympathy for Osama bin Laden, according to court papers. The airline said he left in early 2000 after a few months at American. In 2002, an associate of Pugh's again told the FBI that Pugh was interested in traveling to Chechnya to wage war, the indictment said.Pugh was stopped by Turkish authorities on Jan. 10, and returned to the U.S. five days later by way of Egypt. He told investigators he was in Turkey on vacation and to look for a job and had no intention of crossing into Syria, the indictment said.Follow us on Twitter @Local12 and LIKE us on Facebook for updates!
