Snowshoeing Lolo Pass, ID
My first time out on the snowshoes this season, I purchased a season pass for Lolo Pass while I was there. Lolo Pass is a winter playground on the Montan/Idaho border with trails for all winter activities that are maintained throughout the season. I hiked to the top of one the peaks near the visitor center.
Hwy 12, Lolo Pass towards Lolo Hot Springs, MT, Part 1.
Starting out from the parking lot at the Lolo Pass visitors centre and rest area. We take a right turn back onto Highway 12 which has us crossing into Montana. From here its a long run down from the summit, the first place we will pass is Lolo Hot Springs, seen in part 2 of this mini series

Lolo Pass, elevation 5,233 feet , is a mountain pass in the western United States, in the Bitterroot Range of the northern Rocky Mountains. It is on the border between the states of Montana and Idaho, approximately 40 miles west-southwest of Missoula, Montana. The pass is the highest point of the historic Lolo Trail, between the Bitterroot Valley in Montana and the Weippe Prairie in Idaho. The trail, known as naptnišaqs, or Nez Perce Trail in Salish, was used by Nez Perce in the 18th century, and by the Lewis and Clark Expedition, guided by Old Toby of the Shoshone, on their westward snowbound journey in September 1805.

Siamese Lakes Campout - Lolo National Forest, Montana
In early July we made our way into Montana and to Clearwater Crossing. We planned on getting to Siamese Lakes along the Idaho / Montana border.
We took straight creek in and went up and over Chilcoot Pass in the process. We stayed our first night at lower Siamese Lake and made our way up on to the Bitterroot Divide on the second day. We traversed the divide on the Idaho Centennial Trail until the trail dropped us in to Goose Lake in Idaho.
On the third day we made our way back to the trailhead via the North Fork of Fish Creek.
It was a great trip and gave me a bit of a scare getting over Chilcoot Pass.

*** About the Walk For Liberty
What are you willing to do for freedom?
Vote? Protest? Participate in a rally? Walk all the way across the country?
We are.
This summer, a group of activists will be walking across America to achieve more freedom and liberty.
Our pioneer forefathers trekked across the continent from the east to the west to find a better life for themselves. This time, we're doing it in reverse.
I am walking coast-to-coast across the country, from Oregon to New Hampshire. I am joined by my immediate family as well. We're on a quest to gain more freedom for ourselves and for our country by spreading the message of freedom and liberty along the way.
Why are we doing this?
We see the gradual chipping away at freedoms in America, and want to do our part to stop it. My wife and I are moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. New Hampshire is already the freest state in the country, which is why we are moving there. But we also want to help bring more freedom to as many other people as possible.
Therefore we are walking across America to get to New Hampshire. We are walking all the way there to bring as much media attention and publicity as possible to two liberty-oriented causes: the Free State Project, which is working to make New Hampshire even more free, and Ron Paul's message of freedom for everyone. Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park - Full Time RV Living
On a recommendation, we hitch up the Airstream and travel to Whitehall, Montana for a quick overnight stop to check out Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park. This is the third cavern system we've explored and they never disappoint, but this is the first time we've taken a guided tour which proves to be a fun adventure.
