Fun Facts:
Silver Falls State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, located near Silverton, about 20 miles (32 km) east-southeast of Salem. It is the largest state park in Oregon with an area of more than 9,000 acres (36 km2), and it includes more than 24 miles (39 km) of walking trails, 14 miles (23 km) of horse trails, and a 4-mile (6.4 km) bike path. Its 8.7 mile (14.0 km) Canyon Trail/Trail of Ten Falls runs along the banks of Silver Creek and by ten waterfalls, from which the park received its name. Four of the ten falls have an amphitheater-like surrounding that allows the trail to pass behind the flow of the falls. The Silver Falls State Park Concession Building Area and the Silver Creek Youth Camp-Silver Falls State Park are separately listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
The park's most visited waterfall is South Falls, a 177-foot (54 m) cascade. Remote Double Falls, however, is listed as the highest waterfall in the park, plunging 178 feet (54 m) in a small tributary side canyon deep within the Silver Creek Canyon.
Silver Falls City formed in 1888 and was primarily a logging community with a few homesteaders, and the area was extensively logged. The small lumber town of Silver Falls City sat atop the South Falls, and as the land was cleared, a local entrepreneur sold admission to the Falls area, with attractions such as pushing cars over the falls and even hosting a stunt with a daredevil riding over in a canoe.
By 1900 a Silverton photographer, June D. Drake, began to campaign for park status, using his photographs of the falls to gain support. (Drake Falls was later named for him.) In 1926, however, an inspector for the National Park Service rejected the area for park status because of a proliferation of unattractive stumps after years of logging.
In 1935 President Franklin D. Roosevelt announced that the Silver Falls area would be turned into a Recreational Demonstration Area. Private land that had been logged was purchased, and workers in the Civilian Conservation Corps were employed to develop park facilities, including the historic South Falls Lodge, completed in the late 1930s. It was used as a restaurant from 1946 until the late 1950s and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Silver Falls State Park Concession Building Area in 1983. The Silver Creek Youth Camp—Silver Falls State Park was also added to the National Register at this time.
In January 2008, during the 2008 supplemental legislative session, Fred Girod of the Oregon House of Representatives sought federal designation of the area as a national park via a house joint memorial to the United States Congress, but the bill died in committee.

[RV Life & Travel] SILVER FALLS State Park || Trail of Ten Falls || Oregon's Lush Beauty [Ep103]
We lived in Oregon for a decade and yet this was our first visit to this gorgeous state park. If you love waterfalls, hiking, and lush greenery you've got to check this place out. You can even walk behind several of the waterfalls! If you're able to visit in the late winter or early spring, you should be able to see even more impressive water flows.

Cycling Pacific Coast USA Bike Route Tour
Oregon Coast Bike Route and California Highway 1. Riding along the shore at Cannon Beach, trail running at Cape Lookout, wading in the ocean at Oregon Dunes south of Florence, banana slug at Prarie Creek State Park, rock climbing near the Trinity River, windy moment at Hurricane Point, and a foggy downhill death ride in Big Sur. The trip started in Seattle and followed the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic Route. Then, after a two day mission along the Columbia River, I took the bus to Astoria and rode the coast south until Pismo Beach (near San Luis Obispo). A that point I hopped on a train and headed home to San Diego. Distance = 1,560 miles in about 20 days (plus 8 days of rest and non-southbound riding) Music: Follow aka Club Soda Creek (Western Plains 2009)

The Lost Coast | A Hidden Beauty
Please Watch In HD
Since moving out to the northernmost corner of the California coast, I have been taken aback by its unmatched beauty. I am constantly in awe of the natural landscape of this remote and often overlooked part of California. Equipped with my camera, I have attempted to capture some of the sights that have me claiming this as the most beautiful place I have ever lived. Since July, I have hiked, driven and explored Del Norte and Humboldt Counties, spending my days wandering through and capturing the woods and beaches of NorCal.
Shot on Canon 70d and GoPro Hero 3+
Edited on Adobe Premier
Shot on location in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties including Prarie Creek State Forest, Jedidiah State Forest, Sinkyone Wilderness State Park and Trinidad State Forest.

Drone Detroit Lake Music Video
Passing through the amazing abyss that is the Lake shocked me initially, though it was the end of summer.
I'm using a DJI Phantom 2 a Zenmuse h3 2d gimbal and no FPV monitor. I later acquired a monitor for FPV and played around with a FUTUBA remote while DJI software was working out the smooth operation of the gimbal sensitivity. The videos take place on my trips in and around Portland, Corvallis, Eugene, and Roseburg, Oregon.
Detroit Lake is a reservoir impounded by the Detroit Dam on the North Santiam River 46 miles (74 km) southeast of Salem, Oregon, United States.[1][2] The lake is adjacent to Oregon Route 22 near the city of Detroit. This mesotrophic lake stores water for use by the city of Salem and other nearby communities.
Detroit Lake is situated over a historical road bed of the former Oregon Pacific Railroad. This route was built by Colonel T. Egenton Hogg as a proposed transcontinental railroad. Because of a lack of funding, the line terminated in Idanha, southeast of the lake. Idanha had rail service until the 1950s, when the track was removed for installation of the Detroit and Big Cliff reservoirs.[3] Detroit Lake was created in 1953 after the completion of the dam.[1] Part of the Willamette Valley Projects, the lake was intended primarily for flood control and power generation but has become one of the major recreation resources in western Oregon.
The reservoir has a capacity of 455,000 acre feet (561,000,000 m3) of water when full and 281,600 acre feet (347,300,000 m3) in the summer when drawn down.[1] Located in the North Santiam Canyon, the 9-mile (14 km) long lake has shoreline of 32 miles (51 km) when full.[2] One swimming opportunity is at the Mongold Day-Use Area (an Oregon State Park).[4] Detroit Lake is stocked by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife with 125,000 catchable rainbow trout along with fingerling rainbow, kokanee and chinook salmon.[5] A self-sustaining population of brown bullhead catfish resides in the lake.
Detroit Lake offers year-round fishing as long as you fish in still water and not in or near the rivers and streams. It is one of 32 lakes federally designated for recreation, managed by the United States Forest Service.[1] The lake serves many purposes including flood control, water conservation, and recreation.
There are many camping and recreation opportunities at Detroit Lake. In 2009, a new winter boat ramp was constructed,[citation needed] making it possible to launch a boat safely during the winter months when other ramps are on dry ground. Patreon Patreon.com/garthvapor
