Kerrville-Schreiner Park, Texas
Had a wonderful stay at Kerrville-Schreiner Park which use to be a state park but now is owned by the City of Kerrville Texas. A beautiful Park within minutes of down town Kerrville. Lots of wildlife and great fishing in the Guadalupe River. Met up with some great friends over in Boerne, Texas, Justin and Christine Hunt and family. Had one of the best Bar-B-Q dinners I think I have ever had, Thanks Justine and Christine for the great hostility. Hope this gives you an incite in case you might ever want to stay there. Lone Star Land Steward: Spicewood Ranch
By acquiring land, resting it from grazing, and reducing deer numbers, the Harte family began to restore their Hill Country ranch. Through years of prescribed burns, native plant seeding efforts, and patience, their Spicewood Ranch is now a living library of plant diversity.
A Place for All
Most hunting blinds are not designed for people with disabilities. Inks Lake State Park northwest of Austin has tackled that problem by building special hunting blinds that are accessible for people with physical limitations.
The Climate Detective
What can old Texas trees teach us about our climate? One researcher is finding out. Follow him as he taps the secrets of the trees and learns the warnings they may hold for water planners.
Lizards on the Move
For generations, Texans grew up seeing Texas Horned Lizards throughout much of the state. Today the threatened lizards are common only in certain spots, but research at the Muse Wildlife Management Area is investigating how lizards fare and where they go when they are relocated to restored habitat.

Melanie M.'s Review on The Dyrt:
▶︎ Beautiful Pines
I went there for 3 nights. It is a beautiful little park. It has an 80 acre lake that is really nice except there is too many lilly pads. I took my tiny camper, fishing poles and kayaks. I wish there where more campsites near the water. It is a quite little park. The campsites are nice. The restrooms are very nice. This park is very clean. The park had different activities during the day on Saturday. They had live music and a campfire that I really enjoyed. Then after that they had a dance with a free jukebox and disco lights. It was fun watching the people dance. They have a really nice fishing dock and a store to buy supplies, sueveniers and ice. They rent Kayaks, paddle boats and boards by the hour. The trails go completely around the lake and are easy and very beautiful . They have free WiFi that actually work. The sunset and night sky is amazing. The racoons are very brave and will rob you of anything they can. Do not leave ice chest out or vehicle windows down. The park is only a couple miles from town. I would say this is one of Texas hidden gems. The people that work there are very nice. You don't have to have a fishing license to fish there and that I like because I didn't have to buy an out of state fishing license. There are lots of places to eat out if you don't want to cook. There is a place called Arnold's about 7 miles from park that has really reasonable food. $4 breakfast Eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns, and biscuit & gravy. The also have a giant hamburger, bigger than a dinner plate that can feed 4 adults for only $15. Also 2 miles from the park is a big grocery store that is very reasonable, convenience stores, ice machines, and drive in restaurants. There is a $4 per person per day park entry fee. If you are a 100% disabled veteran that fee is waived for you and 1 other person. The campsites with electric are $20 & $25. Unlike many other states Texas does not give discounts for camping if your disabled or hold an America the beauti...

Albert Pope, Carbon Sixty-Five
4/21/16
An adequate response to the climate crisis requires a new model of urbanism that wholly reconstructs the relationship between urban and natural systems. The key to this new model is the recognition that modern urbanism began revising this relationship more than a century ago. The organicism of Mies and Hilberseimer, the primitivism of Le Corbusier, and the “organic space” of Frank Lloyd Wright all positioned natural forces as the baseline of modernist urban reforms. These architects’ attempts to create a working urban “ecology” constitute a powerful legacy that is arguably more useful today than it was at its inception. Today, this legacy not only gives the discipline a head start, it avoids a diversion into the natural and human sciences and proposes instead broad-based cultural solutions to environmental problems that have long incubated within the discipline itself. That is the theme of this lecture by Albert Pope, the Gus Sessions Wortham Professor of Architecture at Rice University. In his lecture, Pope will present two large-scale urban projects that attempt to directly extend the legacy of modern urbanism.
