Louisiana Children's Museum in New Orleans!
Whenever we travel to a new city, we always visit the Children's Museum. The most fun is always spent in the pretend cafe where Isabella serves us food she has made herself! The supermarket is also very fun- Isabella collects food in the cart and then works the cash register! The Louisiana Children's Museum in New Orleans has some cool things: a gong you can sound, a Chinese dragon/lion, a balance bar made of bamboo, lincoln logs, a house with magnets, a ship, a bayou with rowboat, a house with swinging chair, a magical poet tree...We always have a happy time with the family when we visit a Children's Museum!

New Louisiana Children's Museum Opening in 2019
The new Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) in New Orleans City Park at 1 Roosevelt Mall is set to open its doors to the public, end of summer 2019. The museum began construction at their new site in May 2017 after 31 years at their beloved location in the New Orleans Warehouse District. The move was motivated by LCM’s expanded vision to invest in improving resources for the region’s young children, and their support networks and ecosystems. The design of the new campus is modern and contemporary, filled with light and glass, taking full advantage of the natural park setting.
The new museum is nestled on a lush and beautiful 8.5-acre site in City Park, and it will be an undeniable asset to New Orleans and Louisiana children and families, as well as visitors from around the country and the world, with a focus on early childhood development for children eight and under. But anyone visiting will find the new LCM a treasure.

Cafe Du Monde, Jean LaFitte NHP & Louisiana Children's Museum - French Quarter RV Park, New Orleans
The French Quarter RV Park in New Orleans, Louisiana was the perfect base for exploring during our day in the French Quarter. We were able to walk just a few blocks into downtown where we explored the arts district, saw the St. Louis Cathedral, ate yummy beignets at Cafe Du Monde and walked Bourbon Street. From there we walked just a few more blocks and the kids got their junior ranger badges from the Jean LaFitte National Historic Park. Next we headed to the Louisiana Children's Museum. This was a great spot to spend the rest of the afternoon. It had exhibits that featured the history of the city, as well as taught us more about the boats on the Mississippi River. We took our first Uber ride back to the campground. The French Quarter RV resort is tucked next to a highway beside a cemetery, but we always felt safe. The sites are clean and charming, lined with brick and lampposts. The pool and hot tub were warm and inviting!

Family Travel with Colleen Kelly - New Orleans, Louisiana
Family travel expert, Colleen Kelly, shows us how to let the good times roll in New Orleans, Louisiana. Accompanied by local parents, Colleen uncovers the city’s gems starting in the heart of the French Quarter to sample Beignets at the iconic French Market. We then take a tour of Mardi Gras World where artists design more than 80% of all parade floats; Colleen meets with a float designer to get the inside scoop on how these decorative floats are created. We then get a chance to make our own creations during a Bug Cooking Class at the Insectarium, the largest museum in the United States dedicated to bugs!
It’s always important to learn when you travel to new places with your family. The National World War II Museum is a treasure chest of information for visitors of all ages. Colleen meets a multigenerational family with personal ties to the war and learns how parents can pass down family history while seeing the different exhibits. But our trip to New Orleans wouldn’t be complete without a swamp tour in the bayou, followed by heart racing laps around the tracks at NOLA Motorsports for Kart racing. To round out our family vacation we learn the difference between cajun and creole cuisine and we dance the night away at Mulate’s Family Restaurant.

Check out all the places we visited in this video:
When ready, browse vacation packages to Baton Rouge:
#BatonRouge lies along the banks of the legendary Mississippi River in southeast #Louisiana. It is the state’s capital and is famous for its sports-mad universities, cultural fusion and of course, laid-back southern charm.
From the days when a red stick (or Baton Rouge) marked the boundary between native tribes, to its subsequent administration by France, Britain and Spain, transformation has been built into the DNA of this city. In 1846, a stroke of the pen made it the Louisiana State Capital and since then, it has continued to grow as a city, and a vacation destination.
Mark Twain is often quoted as saying,
“Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
And there is no better way to the catch the trade winds in your sails than with a #vacation to Baton Rouge.
We hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.
