Macau museum is the biggest museum in Macau. It is located in the famous Monte Fortress, in the heart of the city and where the Portuguese first set foot.
Different from other Museums in Macau, which have only one specific theme. The museum was built to show the face of nationalities, tradition, custom and culture.
How to get the museum of Macau? -
Take a bus 8a, 17, 18a, 18 to Hospital kiang wu
Entrance fee : free of charge every Tuesday and every 15th of the month.
Free on children under 12years old and 65 y/o
Opening hours : 10am-6pm
Closed on Monday except during holidays.

The Macao Museum is located in Mount Fortress. It was built by the Jesuits in the 17th century, and opened on 18th April, 1998. The Fortress adjacent to the Ruins of St. Paul's was the city's principal military defence for almost three centuries.

The Macau Museum Of Arts, Museu Maritimo
The Macau Museum of China is an epitome of the beautiful Portuguese maritime influence on Macau and China. The Museum is filled with the historical Macau sail boat replicas and Portugal industrial theme with different decks about different examples of the era. The place where the Museum is located is called Barra Pagoda where the Portuguese first landed according to many first hand believers. The building itself is shaped like a boat anchored in a harbor. It’s 3 storied and different stories have different exhibits like we mentioned earlier. Check out the host, Karuna having a close look at the ancient Boat models and getting awed by knowing about the history and trade between Portugal and South China.
According to our tour we have come to know the three floors of the building have a unique set of things at display and will keep you very interested until you reach the exit. It’s a perfect show of craftsmanship and beautiful history depicting true friendship between two different cultures during that era with their trade. The first floor displays the traditional look of fishermen of the 16th century and the tools and techniques they used are on display giving ample knowledge required. Second floor gives us the trade between the two countries and the Portugese exploration in the land, and how they used their brilliant minds to discover the great Macau maritime industry.
The top floor of the Museum is full of technical details on the maritime advancement in Macau. Combining Portugal minds and South China’s ample brawn power, the industry of maritime has thrived here, and it’s distinctly visible by the boat models displayed. It also gives full information on the transport link and how the explorers from Portugal landed here to change this part of the world. If you have some time to spare, there is the ‘A Ma’ theatre showing small film about the same, believed to be the protector goddess of the local fishermen.
Once we are ready to step out of the Museum, we’re in for a beautiful aquarium that displays different parts of the marine world, like they have independent tanks to display the river bed, harbour and the coral reef. Host Karuna and team Vihari were spell bound by the detail and history of this part of the world superbly depicted by the Museum. “Art Macao” will be a five-month mega international arts and cultural event, featuring the “Art Macao: International Art Exhibition”, in which visual arts works will be presented at various exhibition venues in Macao, including exhibitions to be held by the Macao Museum of Art, hotels and integrated resorts, and foreign consulates.
Art installations will also be displayed in outdoor public spaces, providing ideal hotspots for checking in through social media. In addition to the exhibitions, a feast of diverse musical and theatrical performances will also be presented from June on, as well as the International Youth Dance Festival, the International Youth Music Festival, the International Youth Drama Festival, and the Visual Arts Exhibitions of Macao Higher Education Institutions.

Macau, a territory with booming industries, belonging to People's Republic of China is situated on the south coast of China. Macau is famous for Portuguese and Chinese culture. It has variety of historical places and buildings, which are of European, Portuguese and traditional Chinese style. Macau is a city of tradition and modern, centuries old antiques and latest fashions.
Tourist from all over the world are attracted by its green and beautiful hilly landscapes with green lands, variety of delicious foods. The clean streets and gardens give comfort and enjoyment for the flocking tourists. . By wandering around, the tourist can enjoy well all the sight-seeing places in the city. The busiest place in the centre Largo do Senado, the square attracts the tourists with Portuguese and baroque style tall buildings. Jewellery, pharmacy, Clothing, snacks and many shops dazzle and extend from this square where the tourist can have all purchases. Walking towards the north we can see the preserved sight-seeing places such as Monte Fort, a very old preserved fort, the ruins of St. Pauls Church revealing the history and cultural heritage of Macou.
The museum of Macau adds more history to the visitors. In the southwest part of the city there is a very old and famous A-Ma shrine belonging to Ming Dynasty of 14th century dedicated to the Goddess of Sea A-Ma. Thousands of people come to this temple and devout their prayers during the festival season.
The southern part of this city is the newly developed area while the central and western areas are glorious with traditional and historic places. The southern part of the peninsula has the latest and modern buildings, gambling centres Casinos and museums. Art Museum, Wine Museum, Grand Prix Museums are some of the museums located in Macau delivers the culture and history of the Macou people to the international tourists.
The two islands Taipa and Coloane are connected to Macau by two bridges, attracts the beach loving tourists. The Macau Jockey Club's attracts the gamblers with its spectacular horse-racing. The two sea-side areas Hac Sa Bay and Bamboo Bay are enjoyable place of nature beauty. Not only sight-seeing but also delicious traditional cuisines of various countries comfort the food-lovers should never be missed.
It is a deserving tourist spot with traditional and modern cultures, a peaceful place with prosperity to rejuvenate a weary tourist.
