Mo's Restaurant Celebrates 70 Years on the Oregon Coast
When Mohava Marie Niemi, Newport’s crusty, big hearted chain smoking mother died in 1992 at the age of 79, she left behind much more than a successful business and a trunk full of colorful anecdotes. Her greatest legacy, perhaps, was the work ethic she instilled in her family, which survives to this day.
Paul Newman, Joann Wodward, Henry Fonda, Lee Remmick and the entire cast and crew of “Sometimes A Great Notion,” the movie made from author Ken Kesey’s novel, became friends of Mo’s while filming in Newport. Mo, herself, was in a scene which took place in the Bay Haven Inn, renamed The Snag in the film.
Senator Robert Kennedy, who came through Newport on his presidential campaign tour in May of 1968, liked the chowder so much he took a couple of buckets with him on the plane and even invited Mo to join them for the trip to Los Angeles. She politely declined, and then bitterly regretted her decision. Shortly thereafter Kennedy was shot to death after a campaign speech at the Ambassador Hotel.
Mo and her restaurants have been and continue to be written up in dozens of newspapers and magazines around the United States. In 1999 Mo’s Clam Chowder was a featured entrée at the first luncheon ever held in the Smithsonian Institute, which celebrated “Best American Regional Foods.” She was very proud of the notoriety, but most of all grateful for the restaurants’ popularity, and she gave back graciously to her community. Mo gave of herself completely, promoting “Newport the Friendliest,” with her time, energy and money. That legacy continues to this day in her granddaughter Cindy McEntee. For her “outstanding development of her business and her contributions to the community” Cindy was awarded the 2001 1st runner up, National Small Business Person of the Year from President George W. Bush. Cindy continues to run the business today along with the help of her daughter Gabrielle and son Dylan. In January of 2005 Cindy published a book, Mo’s On The Waterfront, Tradition Turned Legend to honor the life of her beloved grandmother and to celebrate the business she created over 55 years ago.

USA: OREGON: KILLER WHALE KEIKO IS DOING WELL IN HIS NEW HOME

It's been one year since the famous killer whale, Keiko, took up residency on the Oregon Coast.
Keiko, who starred in the 'Free Willy' movies, was involved in his own drama when fans from all over the world donated money to move him from his previous home, a cramped pool in Mexico City.
Trainers and vets say since he was relocated Keiko's health has improved dramatically, he has gained weight and is thriving.
Keiko has made quite a splash since he moved into his new seven million dollar home.

What we are starting to see now is an animal who is starting to explore his environment, he is starting to manipulate his own environment and become master of his own environment within this environment here - the pool that he lives in.

Keiko's new home is four times larger than his old one, is filled with cold purified sea water, has a concrete beach, an artificial reef. And he daily gets 300 pounds of his favourite fresh fish.

Keiko arrived a year ago today, rather underweight for a killer whale his size. He weighed 7,720 pounds. In the last year we have put a thousand pounds, maybe a little bit more on him in weight. We have increased his cardio-vascular fitness. He's living in a pool that is roughly four times the size he was living in Mexico City. So he has to cover a bigger area to begin with.

The intensive therapy and training is paying off. The Free Willy star's trainer says the difference is remarkable.
The whale has shed a string of health problems. His droopy dorsal fin stands straighter. And those who care for Keiko say he appears to be more confident and mentally stimulated.
Nolan Harvey says the training has been concerned with increasing muscle tone, improving Keiko's cardio-vascular system and strengthening his ability to hold his breath under water.
The Foundation that was supported by millions of dollars donated by movie-goers has an eventual aim of releasing Keiko in the wild.

And I think that one of our biggest concerns is going to be is that he has been in captivity for so long and been around human beings that he is very friendly and we have yet to start weaning him off social interaction and so we would not put him back into the water until we believed he's weaned off of us. But right now he is very, very friendly. It would certainly be dangerous for him to be put into the wild and asked to survive when he is still so dependent on social interaction.

There are other reasons why Keiko is far from being returned to the sea - one major problem is his that the tamed whale doesn't know how to hunt for food.
Still a big draw card for audiences of all ages - Keiko appears to enjoy the attention as well as his new surrounds.

V7 -CPS-Newport Oregon HUMAN TRAFFICKING of newborns at SAMARITAN COMM (FOUNDLING) HOSPITAL!
08/29/16 We were red flagged at hospitals to call CPS. The reason that we knew CPS was coming is because they have been intruding in our lives starting 03/11/14 on allegations which they substantiated using a preponderance of evidence. That case closed 01/30/15 and ended in a coerced divorce of Jim and I. Then on 12/23/15 they came back to my door to investigate another apparent allegation. This time the same supervisor (Marion County Amber McClelland) who secretly moved to have my daughters put into the custody of their estranged father during the first case, was again the supervisor on the second case.
The real issue concerning CPS cases should focus on how societies have been conditioned over the years to accept the violation of our rights. People tend to believe that real abuse and/or neglect has occurred when an agency like CPS is involved, however the truth is that these public servants are working under the color of law and allegations of any kind are substantiated without due process of law by a corrupt system that is incentive driven, as it is a for-profit corporation. They have gained momentum through eliciting support and acceptance of their intrusions through deception and ignorance. We were once ignorant to the underlying agendas perpetuating these criminal acts as well. My master's of counseling degree unfortunately did not prepare me for these real life threats to families but it did give me the tools to research!
For those who are just now looking into CPS corruption, a great place to begin is by researching late congresswoman Nancy Schaefer ( ( as she exposed what is going on under the guise of protecting the child and In the best interest of the child There is nothing, up to this point, that we could have done beyond petitioning the Unified United States Common Law Grand Jury (UUSCLGJ) for a habeas corpus and default judgment to lawfully seek due process of law in a true court of record (nationallibertyalliance.org) and contacting our local county Sheriffs who are supposed to be Constitutional (i.e., Jason Myers and Andy Long). However they refused to uphold their oaths of office to protect us from having our rights violated.
Adolf Hitler following statement makes it pretty clear as to the mindset we are fighting against, “The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation.” This is exactly what is going on in America and other places around the world today. We must seek out truth as to the players involved, follow the money, and become part of the solution.
We are just one of the countless other families who have been victimized by our public servants. As a result of the corruption, our newborn, Elijah was not allowed to come home with us from Samaritan Newport Hospital and we were coerced to request grandparents to file for guardianship to protect our children from CPS' constant threats. No due process of law has ever occurred and we have not had criminal records to support children being taken. Anything and everything we have ever done in response to false allegations being made, has been to protect our children from the very corrupt system. The hard reality is that the corruption that is plaguing our justice system has kept people from receiving justice in the defacto kangaroo courts currently working in America today (criminal included).
None of the courts are true courts of record. The common law court that guarantees a trial by jury of one's peers is the only Constitutional court where justice can be received! We will state the disclaimer that pretty much everyone makes when talking about abuse and/or neglect. We are not talking about the handful of cases of true abuse and/or neglect which the media uses to propagate further support of the need for the corrupt CPS system we currently have operating today, this is about the majority of cases that are in fact funding the multidisciplinary team which then continues to traumatize innocent families.

Don't Fence Oregon In
This is a response to the recent ad campaign by Cover Oregon.
As native Oregonians, we found it strange that a large-scale, federally-funded ad campaign is trying to twist the meaning of the Oregon Spirit.
Quoting the Oregonian - 'Mark Ray, co-owner and creative director of North [who created the ad campaign], said the initial ads are to create almost a hello sort of vibe, while stressing an Oregon pride, Oregonians take care of themselves kind of thing.'
We agree, and believe that Oregonians take care of themselves means exactly that. We take care of ourselves. No government mandates, no tax penalties, and no manufactured marketplaces. We love seeing our fellow Oregonians happy, healthy, and strong, which is why we don't want to see our state fenced in by government-controlled health care.

Oregon is such a beautiful state with experiences for everyone. Oregon both have upcoming big cities such as Portland. Portland is with no doubt a place to visit due to their fascinating culture and a funny slogan “Keep Portland Weird”. When in Oregon you should also make adventures in the stunning nature and go explore waterfalls and vigorous forests. During our trip, we visited among others Susan Creek Falls, Watson Falls and Multnomah Falls and it was an experience for life. When in Oregon you should definitely also visit Craker Lake; one of Oregon’s Seven Wonders. Also, you must experience the very scenic coastline of Oregon with smaller cities such as Florence and Newport which trademarks are surfing, windy sea, beer, and wine. We visited the headquarter of the famous craft beer Rogue Ales like we went horse-riding on the beach.

USA: OREGON: STAR OF 'FREE WILLY' ARRIVES IN NEW HOME

Keiko the killer whale and star of the Free Willy movies is happily swimming in his new seven (m) million dollar home.
Keiko's new pool, paid for by donations, is four times the size of his old one and is filled with cold, purified sea water instead of warm salinated freshwater.
He has a concrete beach and an artificial reef and will have a daily diet of 300 pounds of restaurant-quality fresh fish.
Keiko, the whale who made a killing at the box office, was cheered by his loyal fans as he was lowered into his new home.
This ailing killer whale who starred in the 'Free Willy' movies was finally freed - into a larger pool, at least.
And Keiko was determined to make a splash in his new pool which is four times larger than his old one.
His journey started in Mexico City - his old home - and he was given special attention as he was transferred to his new pool at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
As with the visit of any Hollywood movie star, it seemed as if the whole town had made an effort to greet the killer whale.
United Parcel Service, carrying its biggest delivery ever, had arranged for a chartered C- 130 cargo plane to carry the whale to Oregon from Mexico City.
The streets from the airport to his new home were filled with thousands of well wishers and fans waving placards.
Keiko was welcomed in style by just some of the schoolchildren from all over the country who raised money to help move Keiko to his new home.
Once he was lowered by crane into the pool, Keiko flapped his tail, slapped the water and then began swimming in circles.
It is hoped he can eventually be freed into the ocean once he has recovered from a number of health problems.

USA: OREGON: KILLER WHALE KEIKO DOING WELL IN HIS NEW HOME UPDATE

It's been one year since the famous killer whale, Keiko, took up residency on the Oregon Coast.
Keiko, who starred in the 'Free Willy' movies, was involved in his own drama when fans from all over the world donated money to move him from his previous home, a cramped pool in Mexico City.
Trainers and vets say since he was relocated Keiko's health has improved dramatically, he has gained weight and is thriving.
Keiko has made quite a splash since he moved into his new seven million dollar home.

What we are starting to see now is an animal who is starting to explore his environment, he is starting to manipulate his own environment and become master of his own environment within this environment here - the pool that he lives in.

Keiko's new home is four times larger than his old one, is filled with cold purified sea water, has a concrete beach, an artificial reef. And he daily gets 300 pounds of his favourite fresh fish.
SOUNDBITE:
Keiko arrived a year ago today, rather underweight for a killer whale his size. He weighed 7,720 pounds. In the last year we have put a thousand pounds, maybe a little bit more on him in weight. We have increased his cardio-vascular fitness. He's living in a pool that is roughly four times the size he was living in Mexico City. So he has to cover a bigger area to begin with.

The intensive therapy and training is paying off. The Free Willy star's trainer says the difference is remarkable.
The whale has shed a string of health problems. His droopy dorsal fin stands straighter. And those who care for Keiko say he appears to be more confident and mentally stimulated.
Nolan Harvey says the training has been concerned with increasing muscle tone, improving Keiko's cardio-vascular system and strengthening his ability to hold his breath under water.
The Foundation that was supported by millions of dollars donated by movie-goers has an eventual aim of releasing Keiko in the wild.

And I think that one of our biggest concerns is going to be is that he has been in captivity for so long and been around human beings that he is very friendly and we have yet to start weaning him off social interaction and so we would not put him back into the water until we believed he's weaned off of us. But right now he is very, very friendly. It would certainly be dangerous for him to be put into the wild and asked to survive when he is still so dependent on social interaction.

There are other reasons why Keiko is far from being returned to the sea - one major problem is his that the tamed whale doesn't know how to hunt for food.
Still a big draw card for audiences of all ages - Keiko appears to enjoy the attention as well as his new surrounds.
