Home of the Balsam Range Winter Concert Series. Opened in 1932, the Colonial Theatre—located on Park Street in downtown Canton—was the first theatre in the town of Canton built specifically to house a modern motion picture facility and served as a central focus of the town's social life through the 1960s.
Haywood Arts Regional Theater is one of the most active theatres in the Southeast, producing a year-round schedule of plays and musicals from its home, The Performing Arts Center at the Shelton House. Opened in 1997, and funded by the support of people throughout the community, HART's home is a stunning facility constructed in the style of the traditional Summer Stock playhouses of the 1920's.
Biss Honeycutt (Yancey County, NC 1993)
Biss Honeycutt (1909–2000) of Yancey County, North Carolina told me that he was born near Burnsville in a mountain cabin that spanned the Tennessee state line. His father, Tom Honeycutt, was a horse trader and a fiddler, and his mother was a dancer, who could dance the “double shuffle.” Honeycutt grew up with house dances and learned to dance as a child. In 1921, the family moved to Rutherford County, where his mother worked in a cotton mill. He later lived in Marion, North Carolina (for six years before 1941) and in Detroit (from 1943 until 1956) before he moving back to Yancey County. Every time I visited Honeycutt at his home, he was dressed in a white suit, white shoes, and a white hat. At age eighty-four, and with only one lung, he was still willing to demonstrate his old-time buckdancing: the “backstep,” “heel-and-toe,” “shoe shine,” “walkin’ the log,” and other steps.
Music: Honeycutt Brothers
Recorded: Burnsville, NC (April 3, 1993)

Walking The Floor Over You Lyrics & Chords
written and recorded by Ernest Tubb
G E7 A7
You left me and you went away
D7 G
You said that you'd be back in just a day
E7 A7
You've broken your promise and you left me here alone
D7 G
I don't know why you did dear but I do know that you're gone
Chorus:
A7
I'm walking the floor over you
D7 G
I can't sleep a wink that is true
E7 A7
I'm hoping and I'm praying as my heart breaks right in two
D7 G
Walking the floor over you
E7 A7
Now darling you know I love you well
D7 G
Love you more than I can ever tell
E7 A7
I thought that you loved me and always would be mine
D7 G
But you went and left me here with troubles on my mind
Repeat Chorus
E7 A7
Now someday you may be lonesome too
D7 G
Walking the floor is good for you
E7 A7
Just keep right on walking and it won't hurt you to cry
D7 G
Remember that I love you and I will the day I die
Repeat Chorus

Elevated Mountain Distilling Company - Moonshine University Alumni Spotlight
Elevated Mountain Distilling Company is a craft distillery located in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. Located between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, it's the perfect place to run a distillery. Using methods that hark back to moonshiners of old, while incorporating some modern equipment, owner Dave Angel makes everything from corn whiskey moonshine and flavored moonshines, to bourbon, rye whiskey, and vodka. Dave attended Moonshine University's week long course in Louisville Kentucky to make connections and kick start his journey into the distilling industry.
