Haunting mist envelopes Lushan mountains in China
An eerie mist enveloped the Lushan mountains in Jiangxi Province on Thursday. The clouds seemed to flow down the mountains as though a gushing river.

My Chinese supermoto and Drift HD Ghost
Filmed on Maofeng mountain in Guangzhou, China. My cheap Chinese supermoto I bought off of Taobao (Chinese Ebay) with a Shineray 250 engine has proven to be pretty solid. I wanted to open the thing up more in the twisties, but I crashed in Vietnam after coming around a blind corner to avoid slamming into some farmers and their water buffalo. Hence my wariness...
Guilin China
Guilin is a prefecture-level city in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, situated on the west bank of the Li River, and bordering Hunan to the north. Its name means, Forest of Sweet Osmanthus, owing to the large number of fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees located in the city. The city has long been renowned for its scenery of karst topography and is one of China's most popular tourist destinationsIn 314 BC, a small settlement was established along the banks of the Li River.
During the Qin Dynasty's (221–207 BC) campaigns against the state of Nanyue, the first administration was set up in the area around Guilin.[2]
In 111 BC, during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Shi An County was established, which could be regarded as the beginning of the city.
In 507 AD, the town was renamed Guizhou.
Guilin prospered in the Tang and Song dynasties but remained a county. The city was also a nexus between the central government and the southwest border, and it was where regular armies were placed to guard that border. Canals were built through the city so that food supplies could be directly transported from the food-productive Yangtze plain to the farthest southwestern point of the empire.
In 1921, Guilin became one of the headquarters of the Northern Expeditionary Army led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
In 1940, the city acquired its present name.[3][4]
In 1981, Guilin was listed by the State Council as one of the four cities (the other three being Beijing, Hangzhou and Suzhou) where the protection of historical and cultural heritage, as well as natural scenery, should be treated as a priority project

Yan Cha: Wu Yi Shan Roasted Wu Long Sourcing Video
Available to purchase at
One of the three sub-categories of Wu Long, Wu Yi Yan Cha represents the pinnacle of Min Bei (northen Fujian) Wu Long, in which the leaves are heavily roasted to achieve a signature dark and bold aroma and taste. The mantra for Yan Cha is “rock bone and floral fragrance.” While all Wu Longs are floral, the rock bone of Yan Cha refers to a highly desired molten stone mouth feel. One of the hottest teas in China right now, Yan Cha has one of the widest price swings as well as some of the wildest stories associated with a tea.
One of the most famous stories associated with Yan Cha is the legend of Da Hong Pao, or Great Red Robe. The story tells the tale of a student who, on his way to the national exam, got sick while in Wu Yi Shan and took shelter at the nowadays Tian Xin Yong Le Temple. The monks in the temple nourished him back to health so he could continue to the capital for the national exam. The student eventually won first place in the national exam, which immediately placed him among the nation’s top elites. When he went back to the temple to thank the monks, he wore a red robe, a garment to show his new status. The monks told him that it was the teas they gave him from the back of the temple that revived him. To show his gratitude, the student went to the tea trees, took off his red robe and put it on the tea trees. This tribute gave those tea trees not only fame, but also the name Da Hong Pao, Great Red Robe. This story is so famous, the name Da Hong Pao is very commonly (but mistakenly) used synonymously with Yan Cha.
Nevertheless, Wu Yi tea does have a very long history of being a tribute tea, and since the Tang Dynasty (618AD – 907AD) people have been raving about tea produced in the region. But similar to the other historically famous teas, we cannot definitively conclude that in those times Wu Yi tea was made in the same style as Yan Cha today. Actually, it is more likely the tea that was made in the region before late Ming Dynasty (1368AD – 1644AD) was green tea, and it was not until the abolition of certain restrictions on tribute teas that Yan Cha as we now know it was first created.

In the tea shop
At a tea shop in Huangshan, Anhui province, China. I was a little tipsy and let them sell me the most expensive tea without bargaining too much. Chinese people usually hate having pictures or video taken of them (unless they're posing!) so I got my money's worth. I ended up getting Mao Feng tea. Mao Feng's not my favorite, it's too delicate. I ended up giving it as a gift.

The Taster - Episode 7 - Black Chinese Tea
In today's episode I have a first look at Tea. Tea is made by infusing the leaves, buds and stems of the Camellia Sinensis plant, of which there are hundreds of varietals. Black tea has been oxidised (as opposed to the unoxidised Green and slightly oxidised White varieties). The four teas I tasted were: 1st Flush Darjeeling Giddapah China Delight; Bai Lin Gong Fu (my personal favourite); Keemun Hao Ya; and Superior Early Grey. They are all available from The Canton Tea Company cantonteaco.com/

Intro to Renaissance of Tea
Chinese cuisine
Chinese cuisine includes styles originating from the diverse regions of China, as well as from Chinese people in other parts of the world. The history of Chinese cuisine in China stretches back for thousands of years and has changed from period to period and in each region according to climate, imperial fashions, and local preferences. Over time, techniques and ingredients from the cuisines of other cultures were integrated into the cuisine of the Chinese people due both to imperial expansion and from the trade with nearby regions in pre-modern times, and from Europe and the New World in the modern period.
Styles and tastes also varied by class, region, and ethnic background. This led to an unparalleled range of ingredients, techniques, dishes and eating styles in what could be called Chinese food, leading Chinese to pride themselves on eating a wide variety of foods while remaining true to the spirit and traditions of Chinese food culture.
