Visiting Costa Rica for the First Time - Our Self Planned Trip
Visiting Costa Rica for the First Time - Our Self Planned Trip. November 2019.
This video is intended as a resource for anyone planning their own trip to Costa Rica. We planned every aspect of the trip ourselves including accommodation, flights, car hire and activities. Watch the Vlog to see our experience; Travel tips at 14:25. Flights were with British Airways from London Gatwick; Car Hire with VAMOS. We booked a tour to Tortuguero with Expediciones Tropicales; Zipline/Hanging Briges with Viator.com. Most of our hotels were through Booking.com. I forgot to mention Mosquitoes! They really weren't too bad and we found a combination of Picaradin and Nosilife Craghoppers clothing the best.
For my regular viewers: Costa Rican Photography Vlog coming soon!!
Hotels we would recommend:
Puerto Viego - Banana Azul
Arenal - Las Iguanas
Monteverde - Calathea
Puntarenas - Punta Leona

I studied economics and went into business, but I never really liked it. I decided to follow my dreams and start traveling and seeing the world
I’m crewing on different sailing boats. You can call me a boat hitch hiker. I started in San Diego on the Baja Haha ralley and am planning to cross the Pacific Ocean. Join me on this amazing sailing adventure from the United Stated through Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, The Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, The Kingdom Of Niue, Rarotonga, Tonga, Fiji, some other small islands and ending up in New Zealand
I aim to create an entertaining piece of content about my travels about 1 time per week. Unless literally everything goes wrong, but than still, I'll try to make a video about that! The total length of this trip including Island visits will be more than 10.000 nautical miles. I promise you beautiful scenery and all the things that go right and wrong by living on sailing boats as a crew member! By creating these VLOGS I hope to put a smile on your face!

I shoot everything on my iPhone. I used to use iPhone 6s. Now, I use iPhone X/Xs 4k mode (once you go 4k, can't go back). Get the highest storage possible. If you're a true minimalist travel blogger, you'll need it
Videos Editing:
I edit all my vides on my phone. A lot easier than transferring to my computer:
I used to use Splice on the iPhone (free, but only does 1080 resolution).
For my 4k Videos, I use iPhone X/Xs and Luma Fusion:

Love this case too for the Mavic Air. I take it on all my travels:

Playa Azul Costa Rica
This is some video from a trip to Playa Azul, Costa Rica. This is in the Northwest part of Costa Rica - Guanacaste, which is the drier region of Costa Rica. This is in March which is the dry season so it had not rained for a few months.
Even though it was very hot and dry, the beach was beautiful and there weren't many people around which was great.
Las Tres Tortugas - Ocean View Home / Small Hotel for Sale in Costa Rica (Junquillal)
More details:
Las Tres Tortugas is the perfect fit for those who dream of living in a tropical paradise, while receiving guests to share all the beauty of nature around and the luxury of quiet and peace.
It consists of three independent buildings sitting on a 3,943m2 lot, granting privacy for owners and guests. The main house, surrounded by tropical gardens, allows for quiet family living for the owners, while being steps away from the one-bedroom cottage and the 3 private suites for guests. The manicured pathways and landscaped garden guarantee privacy for each of the three separate buildings.
Not only the set up, but also the location is ideal for a small hotel: with public road frontage, allowing for commercial activity, yet inside a residential community with 24-hour guard and unlimited access to the high-end amenities for guests and owners. A double infinity edge pool with separate lap lanes and swim up table area, a solar heated Jacuzzi, a gym and fitness center, a yoga studio, a tennis court and a club House with cook- out areas, all form part of daily life at Las Tres Tortugas.
The main house, with an under roof surface of 239m2, allows for ample family living, with an open kitchen with dining area and a guest bedroom on the ground floor, and ample terraces looking out over the tropical garden. The very spacious master bedroom with ample bathroom on the second floor offers an ocean view! The huge second floor terrace even provides space for expansion with a third bedroom.
Walking down from the main house through the garden, one first reaches the one-bedroom guest house, which can easily host up to four guests by using the pull-out sofa in the living area. A fully equipped kitchen and a private bathroom complete the comfort of the guests.
A little further down the pathway, the building housing 3 identical private suites is nestled quaintly and privately between the tropical plants. Each suite is provided with a king size bed, a kitchenette with refrigerator, a full bathroom and a private terrace, from where the guests can enjoy the sounds of nature around and watch hummingbirds and iguanas roam around in the garden.
All bedrooms in the main house and independences are equipped with air conditioning units and fans.
The garden has been manicured and an automatic, programmable irrigation system ensures that the mature fruit trees, such as lime and mango, orange and papaya, guanabana, manzana de agua and guyava just to name a few, provide fresh fruit throughout the year.
Las Tres Tortugas has a private entrance directly from the main road, but can also be accessed through the main gate of the residential community.
The lot itself offers room for expansion, yet if that would not be enough, the neighboring lot of 5,394m2 could be purchased as well.
The pristine beaches of Playa Junquillal and Playa Blanca are only 2 kilometers away and can be reached walking, biking or driving. Playa Junquillal is one of the country’s most important nesting beaches for Leatherback, Olive Ridley and Black Turtles, and was awarded an “Ecological Blue Flag” for being one of Costa Rica’s cleanest beaches. Experienced surfers can try their luck with the fast beach breaks that roll in at Playa Junquillal, or you can also wade or swim in the calmer areas or meander along the water’s edge on the 2-mile stretch of beach. It’s not uncommon to catch a glimpse of dolphins, whales or stingrays jumping out at sea. Sunset on the beach is a daily spectacle you won’t want to miss.
In short, this property has all you need for luxury family living in the tropics while generating income from hosting guests: location, set up, permits, luxury amenities, nature, beach, tranquility. With some extra marketing effort one can make this place a thriving business, while savoring the same delights of life in the tropics as the guests by living on site!
