Marblehead Lighthouse, Ohio
This is the Marblehead Lighthouse along Lake Erie, in Ohio. There are shots of Kelleys Island, and the Cedar Point amusement park. Since this was filmed in the off season, you can not go inside the light house. Not far away is the U.S. Coast Guard station, and I saw but could not film a coast guard helicopter.

In this episode we explore Marblehead, Ohio. We visit the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the United States side of the Great Lakes. Then on our way back to our campground we find the CUTEST winery called Rocky Point Winery! Both of these activities we would highly recommend (if you are of age for the winery of course :) )

Marblehead lighthouse in Marblehead Ohio on March 29, 2013. Marblehead Lighthouse in Marblehead, Ohio, United States, is the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the United States side of the Great Lakes. It has guided sailors safely along the rocky shores of Marblehead Peninsula since 1822, and is an active aid to navigation. In 1819, the fifteenth U. S. Congress recognized the need for navigational aides along the Great Lakes, and set aside $5,000 for construction of a light tower at the entrance to Sandusky Bay. Contractor William Kelly built the 50 foot (15 m) tower of native limestone on the tip of the Marblehead Peninsula. The base of the tower is 25 feet (7.6 m) in diameter, with walls five feet (1.5 m) thick. It narrows to 12 feet (4 m) at the top with two-foot (0.6 m) thick walls.

Welcome to the oldest surviving home in Ottawa County, Ohio, the Keeper's House. Located on the Danbury Peninsula near the Village of Marblehead, it was the home of the first three lighthouse keepers for the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes.
This house was built of limestone from an early quarry a short distance from the back of the house. The house is an excellent example of early domestic architecture in the Firelands.
Benajah Wolcott was keeper of the lighthouse until his death due to cholera in 1832 at the age of seventy. At this time the Treasury Department appointed the most obvious and capable replacement it could. Benajah's wife, Rachel, became the first female lighthouse keeper on the Great Lakes on October 25, 1832.

Come along with us for a tour of Ohio's favorite island, Put-In-Bay. While it's definitely fun for adults it, can also be a great family destination for the day or weekend.
