Maui epic scuba diving - Hawaii 2014 GoPro Hero 3
Recent scuba diving video from Hawaii. Two Maui shore dives (Olowalu and Makena Landing). Boat dives locations - Lanai (1st Cathedral, 2nd Cathedral, Fish Rock), Molokini crater. I used GoPro 3 Black Edition with and without red filter plus Sola 500 video light. All in HD.
I had 6 (time limited) boat dives (not so cool for the price) and 2 shore dives (very cool) I was diving with two different companies. Boat dives with Lahaina Divers. Amazingly most of my video made on shore dives thanks to Mike from Maui Diving Scuba Center. Best on the island if you looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable dive instructor. Super cool time underwater.

Scuba diving in Molokini Crater (MAUI)
Since my first diving trip in Turkey back in 1992, my partner became my official diver buddy and together we have been diving at many spots, where visibility and water temperature are ideal, plus the locations are perfect for me to do shooting underwater.
It doesn't matter if it's Marmaris (Turkey), Key West, Maui, Molokini (USA)... or even any of the beautiful beaches near Rio (Brazil)... scuba or free diving has become our ritual to meditate. To find ourselves contemplating the beauty of life with a real sense of love and happiness: BEING IN OVER OUR HEADS!!! C'mom, come dive with us!

Maui Dive Sites - Maui Kai
This stretch of coastline is in front of a number of high rise hotels in Kanapali. It is an easy shore dive and the reef extends out about 40 to 50 yards before dropping off to the sand at about 40 feet deep. Out on the edge of the reef you can often hear and see the many humpback whales that have their babies here in the winter. It is common to be on the edge of the reef and watch a school of yellow tangs float by as if dancing to a whale song. This is also a good place to see large porcupine fish.

Molokini Volcano Crater Backwall Dive, Maui Hawaii
Diving the Molokini Volcano Crater off the coast of Maui in Hawaii. Molokini is a volcano dead for over a quarter of a million years.
It was an amazing deep dive onthe craters backwall to over 120 feet of the 300 ft crater ocean floor depth. I would love to go deeper! We got lucky with amazing conditions.
Honokohau Falls | Kukui | Maui | Hawaii | plunges in two tiers for a total of 1100ft
Honokohau Falls is said to be the tallest waterfall on Maui as it apparently plunges in two tiers for a total of 1100ft.
In order for us to get to this waterfall, we had to take a helicopter tour since the falls was situated in an inaccessible valley in West Maui. This was our first ever helicopter ride (as we did this way back in September 2003) so we didn't really know what to expect. Basically, the lure of seeing the tallest waterfall on the island was enough to get us to do this.
Now with that being said, we almost weren't able to visit this waterfall even though we were going on a helicopter tour. We actually had to do a little bit of negotiating in order to even get to this waterfall on our chopper ride.
It turned out that as we were walking around in Lahaina, numerous tour vendors were trying to solicit our business, and one managed to get our attention with this Jurassic Park waterfall pitch. Apparently, the saleslady said that was Honokohau Falls (though I haven't really watched the Jurassic Park movies so I can't really say whether this waterfall was in it or not). However, later on in the conversation, she then tried to convince us that this waterfall and the Wall of Tears (supposedly a bunch of waterfalls tumbling down the mountain in one spot at a time) were the same thing.
Anyways to make a long story short, we looked past the obvious lies and went with this vendor (which was Air Maui) because they offered a pretty decent price (I don't recall exactly how much we paid though). But I knew whatever the saleslady promised wasn't going to be communicated to the pilot. So when we were in the helicopter, the way we communicated with the pilot was to write something on a notepad and hand it to him. That was when I asked about Honokohau Falls, and the pilot (grudgingly) complied. And it was a good thing he did because the Wall of Tears was a dud.
Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park is a United States National Historical Park located in the Kona District on the Big island of Hawaiʻi in the U.S. state of Hawaiʻi. It includes the National Historic Landmarked archaeological site known as the Honokōhau Settlement. The park was established on November 10, 1978, for the preservation, protection and interpretation of traditional native Hawaiian activities and culture.
Honokōhau means bay drawing dew and refers to the ancient settlement on the south part of the park. This area can be reached via trails from the park visitor's center, or from the small boat harbor access road on Kealakehe Parkway.[9] Features include loko iʻa (Ancient Hawaiian aquaculture fishponds), kahua (house site platforms), kiʻi pōhaku (petroglyphs), hōlua (stone slides) and heiau (religious sites). The ʻAiʻopio Fishtrap is a 1.7-acre (0.69 ha) pond, with a stone wall forming an artificial enclosure along the naturally curved shoreline of a bay. Small openings allowed young fish to enter from the sea, but as they grew larger (or at low tide) they were easily caught with nets inside the trap as needed. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 as site 66000287.[citation needed]
Recreation[edit]
Several restored trails include about one mile of the Māmalahoa Trail.[10] It was built in the mid-19th century, and evolved over the years into the Hawaii Belt Road which encircles the entire island. The coastal trail is part of the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail. The Honokōhau boat harbor provides a launching area for traditional canoes, fishing boats, Scuba diving and snorkeling tours of the area.

MAUI, NAPILI BAY//SNORKELING WITH MORAY EEL!!!
Hey everyone! I am going to be posting lots of GoPro vlogs from 2015 and 16 today and tomorrow! Here is some excellent footage, filmed from an excellent Dad! Also, tells me your thoughts of the fish and the moray eel in the comment section below! Love you guys!
Napili is an unincorporated community located north of Lāhainā, West Maui, Hawaii, United States.[1] Napili Beach is a small beach surrounded by condominiums, and the local neighborhoods of Hui Road and Napilihau are home to hundreds of the people who work in West Maui's tourist industry.
Maui is a leading whale-watching center in the Hawaiian Islands due to Humpback whales wintering in the sheltered ʻAuʻau Channel between the islands of Maui county. The whales migrate approximately 3,500 miles (5,600 km) from Alaskan waters each autumn and spend the winter months mating and birthing in the warm waters off Maui, with most leaving by the end of April. The whales are typically sighted in pods: small groups of several adults, or groups of a mother, her calf, and a few suitors. Humpbacks are an endangered species protected by U.S. federal and Hawaiʻi state law. There are estimated to be about 10,000 humpbacks in the North Pacific.[11] Although Maui's Humpback face many dangers, due to pollution, high-speed commercial vessels, and military sonar testing, their numbers have increased rapidly in recent years, estimated at 7% growth per year.[12]
Maui is home to a large rainforest on the northeastern flanks of Haleakalā, which serves as the drainage basin for the rest of the island. The extremely difficult terrain has prevented exploitation of much of the forest.
Agricultural and coastal industrial land use has had an adverse effect on much of Maui's coastal regions. Many of Maui's extraordinary coral reefs have been damaged by pollution, runoff, and tourism, although finding sea turtles, dolphins, and Hawai'i's celebrated tropical fish, is still common. Leeward Maui used to boast a vibrant dry 'cloud forest' as well but this was destroyed by human activities over the last three hundred years.[13]

Lahaina, Maui
Lahaina is the largest census-designated place (CDP) in West Maui, Maui County, Hawaii, United States, and the gateway to the famous Kaanapali and Kapalua beach resorts north of the community. As of the 2000 Census, the CDP had a resident population of 9,118. Lahaina encompasses the coast along Hawaii Route 30 from a tunnel at the south end, through Olawalu up the CDP of Napili-Honokowai is to the north. During the heavy tourist seasons, the population can swell to nearly 40,000 people. Until permanently moving to Honolulu, Lahaina was the capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii. In the 19th century, Lahaina was the center of the global whaling industry with many sailing ships anchored in at its waterfront; today a score of pleasure craft make their home there.
