Lāhainā is the largest town and census-designated place (CDP) in West Maui, Maui County, Hawaiʻi, United States, and the gateway to the famous Kaʻanapali and Kapalua beach resorts north of town. As of the 2000 Census, the CDP had a resident population of 9,118. Lāhainā encompasses the coastal along State Highway 30 from tunnel at the south, through Olawalu up the CDP of Nāpili-Honokōwai is to the north. During the heavy tourist seasons, the population can swell to nearly 40,000 people. Before Hawaiʻi's annexation by the United States, Lāhainā was the Royal Capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom as city signs proclaim. The name means cruel sun in the Hawaiian language, describing droughts that affect the area. In the 1800s, Lāhainā was the center of the global whaling industry with many sailing ships anchored in front of town; today a score of pleasure craft make their home there.

I love this beach - Papalaua Beach Park / Thousand Peaks in Maui
This is a beach along the Honoapiilani Highway near Lahaina. It's good for snorkeling and picnicking with the family. It's a somewhat narrow beach, but has a fun shorebreak and a great view of Molokai.

Beach Bungalow Luxury Vacation Rental at the Oceanfront Maui Sands Resort
Our brand new remodeled one bedroom one bath condominium located 62 steps from the Ocean is on the ground floor. You can walk directly out across the lawn to the waters edge.
The complex has 3.5 acres of lush beautiful tropical grounds on an Old Hawaiian style development with only 76 units. This ocean front complex sits at the northern tip of North Kaanapali. Feel like you're a million miles away from all your worries and relax under the swaying palm trees. This low density complex is in a very quiet area of west Maui yet you are only minutes to all of the activities that Maui offers.
Two reefs run parallel to the front of the complex that harbor many species of fish to be discovered while swimming and snorkeling (we supply the snorkeling gear and boogie board, you only need to bring yourself). Enjoy the viewing area to see if you can spot the whales migrate in front of the complex during the winter months. Enjoy the refreshing sparkling swimming pool and lounge area in the center of the complex. Just steps from this unit is a freestanding complete barbecue to cook fresh fish that you can purchase across the street at the fresh fish market or catch in the ocean (no license required).
Within three blocks is virtually every service you will need during your stay, including a gourmet coffee shop, health food store and west Maui's farmers market open on Monday, Wednesday's and Friday's from 7-11 AM. A local dive shop & fishing gear store, gas station, bicycle rental, major grocery market, restaurants, deli and bar are two block walk.
The condo was completely taken down to the studs and rebuilt with new sheet rock plus new granite counters, stainless appliances, new tile, new custom wood cabinets, all new fixtures and lighting (including ceiling fans). New tile was installed on the Lanai that leads you to the ocean.
The unit is wheel chair accessible (there is a 5 tile rise to get into the shower). Right next door to the unit is the laundry facilities to provide clean clothes.
Take a stroll along the beach all the way to the Black Rock at Sheraton or hit the boardwalk promenade that runs in front of the North Kaanapali resorts and taking you past mega mansions. People watching at its finest, plus the ocean view is pretty nice too.
